Go to the cache page. At the top you can see where it says the number of favorites for the cache. That is a drop down menu. Click on it and it should say at the top of the menu, "Add to your favorites". Click that, and it will add the favorite. When logging via the web, there is also a checkbox below where you write your log. That is the most convenient spot to do it, but if you forget, then you can go back to the cache page and do it as Ambrosia suggests. That would be more convenient, wouldn't it? I usually award favorites later, so I don't usually think about it when I'm logging the cache. Stick around, kid. We'll teach you all about this geocaching thing.

Is it ok to log a "Found it" online on a muggled cache?

By the way, as a cache owner, I thank you for that! -

I hid a cache with similar directions a number of years ago. It was in an often very busy disc golf area. I cautioned about stealth, and instructed the cachers to sit on the hollow log that was on the ground, and very carefully, reach their hand in the end of the log to grab the cache without being spotted. What I neglected to tell them was that the container was a jar covered in fake fur! It was before the days of Favorite points, but got a lot of good comments (and no negative ones) -

I had a woman watching me through her kitchen window as I filled a fence pipe with water to float a cache out. I knew she was watching, and even smiled and waved at her. Got home and received an email from a geocaching friend that is on the police department in that town asking me if it was me. I had no clue that she was going to call the cops, but glad that TheBaldEagle was the one to get the call! -

What ^^^ he ^^^ said. I don't do costumes, vests, hard hats, none of that. I (and the wife) just go for it. If you look like you're worried about someone seeing you, they will. Just act normal, like you belong there and know what you're doing. I get asked more about what I'm up to by the nearby ranchers along rural back roads than I ever do in towns and parks. Agreed. Maybe it's a great opportunity to introduce muggles to geocaching. I've done it a couple times. Each time, the locals already knew about the cache and just said "You're close. Just keep looking." Add my name to the list, whoever is the keeper of the list. -
If the foil is intact, and the cork's in the bottle...I don't think there's a problem with that at all! Alcohol isn't considered family friendly. Hopefully you have taken proper care of it. On the contrary, a lot of families exist because of it.

You just opened a big can o' worms, I'm afraid, and you will probably see a wide variety of answers to your question. Given that it had the geocaching label on the container and swag was scattered about, I would suggest you log it as found, along with a Needs Maintenance log, and make it clear that you are willing to delete your log at the cache owner's request. Better if you can send a picture of what you found, or at least describe it to the CO. Describe to the CO where you rehid the container too, if possible (I assume you put a temporary log in?) To see the flip side arguments, you may enjoy reading the Found It = Didn't Find It thread, although I personally don't believe that applies to your case. -

I have sure lost many contact lenses for a guy that doesn't wear contact lenses. I hate it though, when well-meaning muggles want to help me look. What do you tell them when they ask why you're wearing glasses? I hope they don't ask. -
Trail Cams guarding a cache,... Yes or no?
knowschad replied to graciesaver's topic in General geocaching topics
True. In that case, the same argument could (and would) be used against leaving a geocache in a Minnesota WMA. As one who has worked as a press photographer for several of his younger years, I concur with what you say about the expectations of privacy and photographing in public. -

Already demonstrated there are no legal issues... What about in Maine? Did you see the links I posted above? Possibly Utah as well, and other states are considering regulation of trail cams. -

They sure talk funny in your rural areas!. My rural areas are not that far from yours, dog-with-glasses Apparently far enough. Around my parts, they would simply say, "Who IS that *?" -

In my area, the trend seems to be toward park & grab caches. And not simply because the good places are taken... I have archived caches in wooded off-trail areas that have yet to be re-used, a couple of years later, while stop-sign and other P&G hides proliferate. I guess that's what the new kids want. -

I guess I can't say that I see more "Stealth Required" caches today than I did ten years ago. -
Local Cache in Private Park?
knowschad replied to LaughterOnWater's topic in General geocaching topics
The story so far: Intelligent new geocacher questions a No Trespassing sign on route to a geocache and posts a message to the Geocaching Topics forum Forum members and the OP do the research and learn that the cache is, indeed, hidden on private property without permission One forum member posts a NA log to notify the reviewer Reviewer posts a 30 day warning to the cache After some weeks pass, the cache is re-enabled, apparently indicating that sufficient permission has been obtained after 10 years without it Since the cache is enabled again it must be assumed that the process worked. Thank you for your cynicism. -

I agree that we are not "owed" an explanation, and I did not demand one. -

I am making an appeal here for Groundspeak to speak up and let us know what happened behind the scenes here. There is a lot going on here besides a simple permission issue and some of us would love to know why it appears to have been handled so much differently than other caches. I personally have submitted caches for publication that had explicit permission and still had to jump through more hoops than it would appear that this cache owner had to do. Can you do that for us please? -
Local Cache in Private Park?

You know, this is what I find most distressing about the whole situation. A reviewer refusing to do anything about clearly-documented trespassing situations can do real harm to this game/hobby. I hope GSHQ is fully aware of what's been going on with all involved parties. I wonder if they have access to this forum...? -

I am really surprised that the reviewer didn't require that as a condition of re-enabling the cache. -

And if your trail cam catches a picture of some one running naked through the woods you might truly wish you never saw that picture. True. Real life is not Penthouse magazine.
