  1. We use the GC and its awesome, while you can't add new maps it comes pre-loaded with a worldwide map so other than wanting a topo map you really don't need to get a new one.
  2. Make sure you are actually logged into the app. I have noticed on occasion that I get logged out when attempting to drop a trackable through the app and have to log back in. So this might be why you are seeing them again.
  3. Basically there is one key question that needs to be asked. What do you normally carry with you? Once that is answered it will help you determine what size you need. For me while caching I have a little schwag bag and pen, plus my GPS unit. Since I do most of the caching as a park and grab currently I don't really need much more than a zip-lock baggy, granted that's starting to get a bit old as the baggie will eventually rip and need to be replaced. Are you doing day hikes or hiking a couple of miles at a time? Do you need water easily accessible, etc.? Maybe a little waist pack is all that you need, or possibly a sling bag. But again it really comes down to your needs for your caching trip.
  4. I will sometimes plan cache finds in order to locate travelers. Then to come up empty handed. Sometimes there are logs from the same day. But if it has been weeks it is sad to see. I will post a note that there was nothing when i arrived and will do my best to note them all.
  5. So, I got some news from the minter there was a mixup with the finishes. So the actual finish is as follows 300 Brass 100 Nickel 50 Gold
  6. Here are the pics now that I am home and can get these posted.
  7. The coin is now available for sale at www.geocoinstore.com and I want to thank Direct Mint for all their help. They look great. I especially love the antique Nickel. They are 6.49 each. I want this to be a series and I have the art almost ready for the next one. the pics are at the store.
  8. I will answer the favorite coin. There are pics in this thread already of my favorite, and a whole thread dedicated to it. The Mickey Mystery Dive coin. I am a Disney fan, and love to scuba, its kind of brings in three activities I like to do in one coin.
  9. That's a nasty looking one seeing as how its closed all summer. The CO also hasn't been out in over a year to check on it, where all he did was move the coordinates. He is active so its odd that he isn't responding to the emails. Man and its out of the way too.
  10. I have never actually been to the Tar Pits, driven past it a couple of times though. I would love to head out and make the grab, then hand it off to help it on its way. but I won't be in the area this weekend and I could see this getting grabbed before the weekend. At least I hope.
  11. Placed a bid on a coin. I really like this effort.
  12. Its a good question. As I have just started to design a coin as well and I want it to be a series. But its really based on how the first one goes. I haven't really purchased one yet for collection only. but so far i have purchased coins based on a mission I want to send it on.
  13. just to jump in on this. I use the iphone 4 for my caching adventure. I find that you will save some battery life if you choose to only save the log. then go back to the pending requests and choose to send them all in one go. So, for now just select the save while caching, but dont forget to go back and send later. What a great first day of caching!
  14. I am loving this mission and am watching it closely to see how it turns out.
  15. The order is in and they should be available for sale within 3 to 4 weeks. They will be sold exclusively at www.geocoinstore.com and I thank them for helping me out with my first coin. If you would like to ensure you get one of each finish as has been requested directly to me it will be a first come basis on the store. I will keep you posted when they are ready to sell.
  16. The order form is being filled out now. I am going with the 1 inch coin. There will be 300 nickel, 100 brass, and 50 gold. I will keep you guys updated.
  17. We were out caching this weekend, and looking for a place to drop a TB, since most in town are micro's or mini's. I got to the description and it mentioned to beware of homeless and people having sex. This was on the edge of a business. We walked over spotted a few homeless having hanging out pretty much right on top of the cache. We decided to skip it and never return to that particular cache.
  18. OK, I think this is it. I have received some direct messages of interest. So what are your opinions, should I go with the micro or the full size coin? I am getting ready to make the order and have just ask that the LOS be closer to the original size. I hope this does well so that I can proceed with the next coin in the series.
  19. Its the first part of a series of transit coins I plan to do. This one is similar to an LA coin. I am looking at doing some other cities as well.
  20. The worst so far is a ticket stub. I just threw them away because its trash. Who cares what movie you saw before you went out caching. Now that I think of it I dropped a medal i received for doing a Bike the Coast event. I bet that's really not good swag to find.
  21. So I am in the process of making a coin and have some early artwork. I am going back to work on the text. But overall this is what it will look like. I am talking with the minter about a 1" or a 1.75" coin. Basically a full coin or a micro coin. The smaller one would be closer to size of an old transit coin. These will be all metal finishes without color. I am looking at doing different metals in limited edition. What do you guys think?
  22. Coins generally come with a card that indicate who minted it. If that is still available try going to their website to request an activation code form them. Also what coin is it. By having that information at least there are plenty of people on the forum who know who you can contact regarding obtaining an activation code.
  23. Since the latest update it is still not an option.
  24. I am curious as to how it got into a cache that hasn't received a FTF yet? CO decided to drop bugs he picked up into his new one I guess. Sorry I live in the west coast and in California. But I do have a Canadian Flag micro heading up to Canada, its stuck in Oregon right now.
