  1. My Premium Membership was set for renewal next week. I use PayPal. Today I got a notice from PayPal that Groundspeak had cancelled my subscription rather than renwe it. Are these glitches still in the system? Has this happened recently to others since the last posts in 2008?
  2. I used to have two. Now I only have one across the top with the coords.
  3. I haven't been caching in about a month and went out yesterday. I loaded caches as I normally do from the computer and when I got to the park and turned on my GPS I was stunned to find that the distance to the cache on the compass page was no longer there, replaced by satellite coordinates. Is this supposed to be? Is this happening to others or is this a problem of my unit alone? I dislike this because I have to back out of the page each time to see if I am getting close to the cache, as walking along the trail. It is like walking blind? Is there a way to fix this? Did I do something to my unit? Thanks for any help you can give.
  4. I did a search for this topic and only seemed to find it related to the forums. Is there any way to place a spell check on the Groundspeak pages that lead toward the publication of cache pages? An occasional misspelled word is sometimes okay, but for many cache pages the spelling is atrocious. Even if not possible, perhaps a reminder on the page itself to run a spell check before submitting it for publication would be helpful. Does anyone else find this lack of both decent spelling and poor grammar annoying?
  5. Does Geocaching.com ever remove the privileges of the site for geocachers who are abusing the site? Case in point, I got notified that my Travel Bug was logged as picked up with a disturbing message "will send to hotdog hell, where no hotdogs safe!" MY TB is a little hot dog car. I checked this cacher's profile and they have been members for over a year with no finds logged and only my TB listed. They did not log the find at the location of the cache. There is no other information. What recouse does another cacher have? Thanks
  6. Finally saw my first wild Jeep TB in a cache in Wisconsin last week. A green Jeep was listed in the cache along with 4 red ones. Turns out the Green Jeep was actually a blue Volkswagen attached to a Jeep TB tag. Apparently someone switched it out kept the jeep and sent the tag with imposter on its way. I emailed the company asking when the 2008 versions would be available and got a reply that they were not continuing the promotion this year.
  7. I emailed the company last week asking about the contest for this year. I received a reply that stated they were not planning a 2008 version.
  8. NYSandy23 if you would please. If numbers don't work then NYSandy is fine. Thanks so much. How exciting.
  9. David Mac has the right idea. Grab the Light Rail from the bowels of the Lindbergh or Humphrey Terminals and you can be wisked away to a number of good caches. There is a series that can be done right form the Light Rail on your way to downtown Mpls. GC16WK3, GC16NH6, GC16WJF, GC16WJ1, GC16WQ8, GC16WJN. Just use the map feature after opening one of them and follow 55 or Hiawatha Ave and you will see many other caches within walking distance for the various stations. Be forewarned that not all are winter friendly and we have snow pack on the ground. Good luck caching.
  10. It is the same here in Minnesota. I too, have Comcast and using webmail only, I can't open notifications of new logs or new caches placed. I did notice, however, that another frequent email sender from another company not related to GC has also exhibited the problem. That company also sends notifications of a different sort. There have been no error notifications, it just hangs up. I hadn't talked with Comcast yet, but may now do so since it seems system-wide. The only solution I have is to wait until I get home from work to read them. My boss should be happier since I should be more productive....
  11. Are you refering to the fact that caches get downloaded as waypoints rather than Geo Caches? That has been my problem and now I only get coordinates and a generic geocache without a title name. Any one else?
  12. I just feel the need to express my lack of enthusiasm for the changes. While I like the clarity of the maps and the cute little icons, not having them identified on the map unless you scroll over them, leaves you clueless when you print them out. It would be so heplful to hae the menu back sot hat you could link icon to cache name, even manually. In addition, once you open the list of caches from the right menu (List all Caches), you may no longer go back to the map and pull it to visit another area. You have to close down and return to the list and re-open the map. This makes the system so very unwieldy. If those feature could be fixed, that would be a step in the right direction. One doesn't really need all the high tech stuff to geocache, but technology is supposed to help mankind, not frustrate us. Thanks
