Just remember common sense aint all that common. _____________________________________________ Lost? I'm not lost. At least I don't think I'm lost, well............OK, maybe just a little.
  2. OK, so I decided to read the tutorial about hiding a cache. It does not say specifically no matches or lighters. What it does say; "Please!,no Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, Prescription or Illicit Drugs. Let's keep this safe & legal." If you feel that you have to put matches in, then by all means go ahead. Just remember, and I quote the tutorial again, "Ultimately you are responsible for the cache..."
  3. Just to let you know, I did a hand-off with Matt & Laura when they were in Fed. Way. They dropped it in "Unoriginal Cache". Hopefully it has moved on from there. ______________________________________________ Lost? I'm not lost. At least I don't think I'm lost, well............OK, maybe just a little.
  4. Matches and lighters should not be placed into caches, because you dont know who is going to find the cache. The child proof cap on a medicine bottle won't stop a teenager. I vaguely remember my teen years, a lighter and an aerosol can made one heck of a blowtorch. You might consider a magnesium block and flint fire starter (sold in most camping stores) as an alternative to the matches.
  5. If you click on a members name it takes you to a profile page about that person. Kinda cool. _____________________________________________ Lost? I'm not lost. At least I don't think I'm lost, well............OK, maybe just a little.
  6. The matches are a definite NO-NO. Everything else sounds good. The hooks should be small, 'cause you probably won't be catching anything big in most mountain lakes.
  7. I would have to agree with R.K., if there aren't any cachers in your area, its upto you to educate others about our little game. Once you get the ball rolling it should catch on. If you you haven't had any hits on your cache by the end of the summer (September/October) contact me and I'll be happy to be your surrogate cache keeper. ______________________________________ Lost? 9. It would probably work ok. Be sure to mark it with "This side up", if the top is down it will most likely leak. Also be sure to wash it thouruoghly with a little bleach & water to get the koolaid smell out. You don't want to be attracting any critters. Lost? I'm not lost. 10. You should've seen the trash taken out from "THE SEARCH" event this past weekend. We hauled out a steering column from a Chevy truck, a fender of some other vehicle, a mangled seat from the same vehicle, a folding lawn chair (the kind you would find near a pool), a dead 7 in. Skil saw, and probaly a dozen sacks of misc. garbage. Its amazing the things people will go out their way to dispose of.
  11. Something I keep experiencing; severe Brain Farts. Whether or not it is directly related to GCing, I'm not sure. Lost? I'm not lost. At least I don't think I'm lost, well............OK, maybe just a little.

  15. One of the things that Team Misguided does is put kitchen size trash bags into snack size "zip-loc" or clear film cans with a sticker on them showing the C.I./T.O. logo and a brief message asking cachers to use the bags if they spotted any trash on their way into the cache. Also, as far as dealing with the "toxic waste" items, I always wear a pair of rubberized knit gloves. You've probably seen them in hardware stores, grey in color with blue or green rubber on the fingers and palms. They also work great for pushing blackberry vines out of the way, although, they don't stop the large thorns. Lost? I'm not lost. 16. Put in things that you like, possibly relating to other hobbies that you have. If you get a kick out of the stuff you put in a cache, chances are that someone else will enjoy those things as well. Just remember to leave room in the container for people to put in their trade items. Lost? I'm not lost. At least I don't think I'm lost, well............OK, maybe just a little.
  17. I had two out for awhile, until my second was suspiciously removed. I check on my about every 2 weeks when I visit my in-laws. I've also been checking on one that I've sort of adopted every 3-4 weeks.
  18. Theme based caches wont end the problem of content degredation, cachers will trade what ever they happen to have with them at the time. If you start repramanding players for not keeping to the theme, you might find your themed cache being constantly filled with "geo-junk" in retaliation. Just do regular maintenance and remove the things you would rather not have in the cache. I've got my first theme-cache all set, just have to find an appropriate place to hide it. Lost? I'm not lost. 19. By the way, could someone please tell me the proper pronounciation for 'Champoeq', I've heard a couple different ways. Lost? I'm not lost. At least I don't think I'm lost, well............OK, maybe just a little.

  21. Since my wife has pointed out "The Big Tree" cache, I should probably ask you a couple of questions. 1st. How old is your father-in-law? Next, What terrain level do you think he can handle? How far off of I-5 do you want to go? Lost? I'm not lost. At least I don't think I'm lost, well............OK, maybe just a little.

  23. I get the same thing happening to me on occassion. After it happens I grouse about it and keep on going, suppose someday it will get fixed. Another thought occured to me, You may be logged into GC.com, but not the forums. Lost? I'm not lost. At least I don't think I'm lost, well............OK, maybe just a little.
