If we start getting huge numbers of reserved caches, I can imagine there will be enough complaints to create another guideline. Heck, just look at the number of complaints to just ONE reserved cache...
Originally posted by Gorak:You misunderstand. I was in no way suggesting that we needed a new rule. I was asking because the whole concept of Reserved Caches gave me some interesting ideas and I wanted to ensure that they would be approved before I went any further. In fact, a similar concept crossed my mind not too long ago but I dismissed the idea assuming that the cache would not be approved.
It is really amazing to me that most of the complaints that are posted to the General Forum lately seem to come from the same 3 or 4 "community" mermbers.

Cache reviewers/approvers tend to be a lot harder on themselves about placing caches. They have the bennefit of being able to confer with other reviewers/approvers before posting a cache.

Hydee's comment here just means that if you have a questionable cache idea, try dicussing it *politely* with your local approver before you post it. Instead of *bashing* them over the head with it when it gets declined.
These are just MY observations, not to be taken any other way.

Thank you R.K., for expressing how many of us feel. I never just hap-hazardly place a cache. Most of my caches usually take a good 2 - 3 months for me to put together and find a suitable place to hide them.
While I've never really had a problem with the brevity of a finders log, its the trading down part that REALLY urks me. As an example I give you this one. I spent 4 months gathering just the right treasures to place in it, only to have the contents reduced to fecal matter by the first group to find it. Not that I'm whining, I fully expect a cache to decline in quality OVER TIME, not at the first finder.
Thanks for enduring my micro rant, I'm off now.

In the 1800s, the Tates Watch Co. wanted to diversify. Since it
already made watchcases, it decided to manufacture compasses for
pioneers traveling to California. But the compasses were so bad that
people often ended up in Canada or Mexico. This is the origin of the
expression, "He who has a Tates is lost!"

Wander Lost just snickered and said that her Chocolate Kiss Cache seems to be the toughest one in Western Washington right now.
Another one of WL's that is pretty tough is Dead Languages.

If trees could scream, would we still cut them down?
Well, maybe if they screamed all the time, for no reason.

We even tried to stay at a place in Utah where they had computers with internet access near the front desk for guests to use, which would have been great! But alas, they don't take Barney dogs. Argh! If it isn't one thing, it's your mother!
Wander Lost & I use AT&T broadband for our home computer, but we also pay a nominal fee(@ $10.- for 30 days) to have access via their dial-up service. This allows us to connect to the internet just about anywhere we go, and all we have to do is unplug the hotel phone and plug in our laptop.

Here at Team Misguided HQ we started out using MS Home Publisher. Then we switched to MS PictureIt! Publishing Platinum edition, after we had some difficulties with the former. We just purchased Print Shop Deluxe about a week ago, and were eager to give it a good shake down.

OK, so you weren't po'd. That's ok.
I spent 13.5 hours yesterday doing The Yakima Cache Machine. There were 30+ cachers, some were hitting their 800/900 cache mark. Others were fairly new the game. I don't know what the cachers are like in B.C., I never heard a single dispariging word said about any of the people involved.
If there are Elitists among us they are few and far between, or they all live in your part of Canada.

Great minds think alike.
I posted this thread yesterday in the N.W. forums. My idea was to get a collection of parks together, and which ever got the most nods as the dirtiest park, would be selected as the site for a cache in/trash out event cache. I was just waiting for the list to grow before I presented the idea to the WSGA exec. board for consideration.

If you really feel the need to have a "GEO Dating" forum, why not just start your own YAHOO group. Then you can add a link to it in your signature line. If anyone is interested they can click on the link, and it doesn't waste space on the geocaching.com servers.

We've talked about a hosting either a Pre-Event or a lunch event. But our plans for the CM are up in the air right now. (We're supposed to be putting a fence up that weekend)
I may get with L&R about helping with a Babaloo event.
