  1. Hey- I was just checking out the daily Woot and they have the 2006 Microsoft Streets and Trips with the GPS Locator on sale for $44.99. I've bought mine in 2005 and it was about $125, so I think this is a pretty good deal. Here is the link: http://www.woot.com/Default.aspx If you aren't familiar with Woot, they offer one item for sale per day and once its gone, that's it. My husband has bought several items from them and hasn't had any problems. Dawn 1 of the 5 Happy Campers
  2. This is the exact same issue we ran into. We did a lot of research before purchasing the Etrex legend. It's very frustrating! It's not like its a bottom of the line unit! Thank you for phrasing your frustrations so clearly. That is exactly what I was trying to convey in my posts. Dawn 1 of the 5 Happy Campers
  3. Thanks for all of your help! It is great to talk to others that are having or had similar problems. I realize the GPS will not take me directly to the cache and I don't really want that. However, being on the correct side of the trail would be nice. We get frustrated when when we are hot on the trail fo a cache and the numbers are going down, you get to 10 feet, etc then all of a sudden the compass starts to spin and it tells you to go 40 feet in the other direction, then when you do that it sends me in another direction. Sometimes, I am convinced that a maniac is controlling those satelites and is playing games with us while we cache!!! (Kind of like the man behind the curtain!) Dawn of the 5 Happy Campers
  4. We are relatively new to Geocaching (20 caches as of today!), we have the Garmin Etrex Legend and we have reception problems when under tree cover. When we get close to the cache the GPS starts to flip out. It never gets to zero feet. A friend of mine has one of the new color models of Magellan and while we were caching together, mine was flipping out and hers was right on, in fact, it took us right to the cache. This is a very annoying problem. Is the problem with the quality of our GPS or do we have a setting wrong? We are going to be purchasing the map software soon maybe we should purchase a better unit with software included. Please advise! 5 Happy Campers
