  1. I also have a GPSMAP 62squeaker What about the guys who got a new one - was the second unit without squeaking?
  2. if you press any key, the altimeter adds some meters (look at the video after 1 minute at position 1:00 ) Also if you press the screen. (Yes, it is no touchsreen.) Just check it out on your gpsmap62s If you see both (screen and keyboard) at the same time, it would be easier to see the problem (it's not my video)
  3. The gpsmap currently also adds altimeters without moving the unit. (just pressing the keys) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erFU18NsWKM
  4. What type of sort-order is it? It is not sorted by date. picture from: http://www.gpsfix.net/advanced-tracklogs/ I would prever reverse sort order by date: YYYY-MM-TT--01 2010 -->2010-07 ----->2010-07-29 ----->2010-07-26 ----->2010-07-22 -->2010-06 ----->2010-06-03 ----->2010-06-01 2009 ...... and with subfolders for YEAR and MONTH
  5. >>I like the way my 60CSx saves the tracklogs much better... Yes, the type of tracklogs of the 60csx was much better. But i think, garmin cannot change it to the old system. There were already a lot of emails for the Oregons to change the logging, but they never changed it in the last years!!! I do not know what's the problem therefore
  6. OK, thanks for the answer You can delete it
  7. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source...004128&z=19 Airport: Reynolds Airpark Green Cove Springs, Florida 32043 Why are so many cars parking on this place - does anyone have more informations? Thank you!
  8. it is rather easy: Forerunner: Garmins website mentions the sirf4 gpsmap: Garmins website does not mention the sirf4
  9. Just try raster on a Oregon - its a paralyzing compared to an Aventura
  10. Edit : and like I mentioned above, typical of Garmin. No one GPS receiver that's obviously better than everything else in all specs. I'm sure that is all part of their business strategy... to keep us wanting more all the time. Maybe it is the strategy of Garmin. But this would be a bad strategy. Other companies have also great units. Delorme Lowrance Compegps http://www.twonav.com/?op=2_0〈=0en∏=275 http://sportiva.twonav.com/?lang=en There is no reason to wait any longer if it is really 160x240 Pixel Just watch this video and compare the speed of map drawing !!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_K_fYm_SH7o
  11. 160x240 Pixel is Dakota-Style (i thought it would be 240x400 = Oregon-style)
  12. I bet Garmin did NOT take all the features of the 60er unit Otherwise i would be really happy and buy the unit.
  13. Yes you're right. I did not use the 62 but i am sure i will miss the following features too (because there will be the aweful oregon-system inside - just look at the blue-position-pointer) *) no automatic daily logging like the 60 *) sight an go ? *) position of sun and moon *) still missing correct time of moving during hiking on the oregons *) no day/night mode *) no declutter-funktion *) Position circle *) calendar-funktion for the waypoints *) A-B-distance on map screen *) no recalculation option like the 60 *) status bar *) smaller position-pointer .... I hope, that the 62-screeen can be compared with the vista-screen during all weather conditions (also bright sun)
  14. >>- Oregon x50/Dakota OS and software with some design changes to work with hard keys I hoped they would implement a new software-system. I do not like the Oregon/Dakota/Colorado-OS -> to many leaks, very slow, missing a lot of funktions which were implemented in the old gpsmap60-system
  15. Do not forget that the software on the 78-Series will be working as designed in about a year and not earlier. It is always a pitty, that garmin let test their users the system and solve the bugs afterwards. This will take about 9 months.... So if you want to avoid pain, spring 2011 will be the earliest time to buy the unit.
  16. now it is official - i think, the 62 will follow a little bit later https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=145...=63602#specsTab https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=145...=63601#specsTab new unit comparson: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/compare.do?cID=...reProduct=63601 I estimated 240x400 Pixel GPSMAP® 78s Physical & Performance: Unit dimensions, WxHxD: 2.6" x 6.0" x 1.2" (6.6 x 15.2 x 3.0 cm) Display size, WxH: 1.6" x 2.2" (4.1 x 5.6 cm); 2.6" diag (6.6 cm) Display resolution, WxH: 160 x 240 pixels Display type: transflective, 65-K color TFT Weight: 7.7 oz (218.3 g) with batteries Battery: 2 AA batteries (not included); NiMH or Lithium recommended Battery life: 20 hours Waterproof: yes (IPX7) Floats: yes High-sensitivity receiver: yes Interface: high-speed USB and NMEA 0183 compatible RoHS version available: yes Maps & Memory: Basemap: yes Ability to add maps: yes Built-in memory: 1.7 GB Accepts data cards: microSD™ card (not included) Waypoints/favorites/locations: 2000 Routes: 200 Track log: 10,000 points, 200 saved tracks Features: Automatic routing (turn by turn routing on roads): yes (with optional mapping for detailed roads) Electronic compass: yes (tilt-compensated, 3-axis) Touchscreen: no Barometric altimeter: yes Camera: no Geocaching-friendly: yes (paperless) Custom maps compatible: yes Photo navigation (navigate to geotagged photos): yes Outdoor GPS games: no Hunt/fish calendar: yes Sun and moon information: yes Tide tables: yes Area calculation: yes Custom POIs (ability to add additional points of interest): yes Unit-to-unit transfer (shares data wirelessly with similar units): yes Picture viewer: no Garmin Connect™ compatible (online community where you analyze, categorize and share data): yes
  17. MAC is an excellent tool for creating rastermaps
  18. http://blog.sancho.hu/2010/03/garmin-gpsma...ed-legenda.html additional i got the information that the unit will be avaliable this year no colorado, it will be waterproof
  19. The information is from different friends working in special shops
  20. Does anyone know about the release date of the new gpsmap-series? I myself could not find infos regarding to the gpsmap62csx Seems to be that garmin is testing the rastercard-support on the oregon-series just to get a stabile new raster-series.
  21. is there any company which produces a similar unit compared to SPOT or SPOT2, but with a better hardware. I prefer: LCD-Display buttons which cannot be hit by mistake (espeially the emergency button and the power button) Emergency call Position call I am not happy with the SPOT/SPOT2-design and i thing it will again take a few years until SPOT3 with better hardware will be available. Therefore i am looking for a similar unit from a different company - Thank you!
  22. For a bigger Screen, you should take a CompeGPS AVENTURA with a 3,5" screen and extreme fast multimap/multilevel raster map drawing http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xbqb0k_ga...-aventura_sport http://www.twonav.com/?op=2_0〈=0en∏=275
  23. you are taking about 60CSX fw 4.10 Are you sure? This version is not avaliable until now. For downgrading: http://www.gawisp.com/perry/gps60/GPSMAP60CSx_400.exe or http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection....ct=010-00422-00
