  1. If I found it, I would have thought it was a very nice signature item.
  2. I think Treasure Island is just great!!!! You don't have to impress, have fun, and do your best.
  3. Generally, you just email the owner on most virtual caches.
  4. I don't generally carry a camera unless I am on vacation. Also, I don't have a digital camera, so you would have to wait until the film was processed and I took the time to scan and submit. I would just add a friendly comment about submitting pictures....you'll probably get some beautiful if not clever pics.
  5. I have seen where coordinates are put on the inside of a business card sized magnet, on the underside of picnic benches and park benches. Even if this magnet were nicely placed on the flag pole, I wouldn't have a problem with it....painted white to match the pole, maybe?
  6. Another reason is that some people would have to wait longer to download, some people have dial up, dontcha know.
  7. Try: www.geotruckers.com It's a group of truckers/RVers and they have started a rest stop category....it's a friendly group of folks.
  8. Geo-Stu....tsk tsk This sounds like a wonderful idea. Tickets to a nice theatre presentation or concert....keeps the future in mind!!!
  9. I used to do that, however, when I would realize that I left a 3-4 dollar item and someone replaced it with ONE bobber, I don't do it anymore. Hurt my feelings too badly. It's up to you.
  10. I have a hunch 90% of people would have ordered something, if only a soda if nothing was mentioned. However, by virtue of telling me I HAD to, I probably wouldn't have. If not stated, my sons and I would have ordered off the menu. With the statement like it is, we probably would have walked in with water bottles and beef jerky in hand.
  11. I was able to find a few caches by using the google maps, and mapquest. By knowing the park and getting all the hints I could, we found them. Read the hints and the logs, and then you'll get some vague clues that will later make sense.
  12. Also the local coin/stamp shop will have them.
  13. Doesn't sound like an experiment as much as it would make a great topic for an oral or written report. The closest thing for comparison on a science project would be doing an accuracy test of your GPSr vs other brands and/or accuracy of your GPSr in clear open fields, tree canopies, caves, etc. You need a constant and a variable, tested a minimum of three times.
  14. Sorry, you can't give him away anymore....he's family!!!
  15. Got one for about 5 bucks at a military surplus store, I had to rummage through a bunch of dented/rusty ones before choosing the one I have. Makes kind of a cool lunch box for a middle school kid.
  16. Yes, I believe it's the one....2"x2-1/2"x4-1/2" approximately....I don't have one with me or a ruler for that matter. Send a real one on its way, and have the other for a cool reminder....
  17. The closest thing you can do is this. Buy the white or yellow diecast Maistro jeep from Wal-Mart and order a travel bug dog tag, and send it on it's way....however, it won't be considered "the true WJTB". And even if it's an imposter, consider it gone in a relatively short time. The WJTBs were issued by the Jeep Corp....and were numbered as such.
  18. Sets of bungee cords seem to get picked out of caches....... Briansnat, while I would love to find small cans of WD-40, isn't it risky to put those in caches due to weather changes?
  19. I found a travel bug hotel made from a 5 gallon bucket that was buried, however, the lid was ground level and accessible without digging anything. I found it unique, and easy to use.
  20. I think if someone who was offended by gambling, they wouldn't take the ticket....I would just hope they wouldn't take it and rip it up.
  21. As a Scout leader, I have my trusty $3.00 BSA hiking stick. Of course I added some handy items to it, along with my geocaching.com medallion.
  22. This may be a helpful site for you.... http://www.geotruckers.com/
  23. All I know is that since the decision was made to move all virtuals and locationless, I have lost 90% of my interest in geo-caching. I was able to get a virtual cache this past week, it was great, but I must say I was saddened that they'll be gone. Waymarking doesn't quite make sense to me, I can't figure out the site, etc. What a dilemna...but then again, it's not my game and I have no control.
  24. Believe it or not, I returned an eTrex yellow to Target without the box, because you have to destroy the packaging just to get to the gps. I brought back the gps, the instructions and the video, and they returned my money, with no troubles, 6 months later. I did have a receipt for it.
