  1. Just what I was wondering as my Coin has been logged into 18 caches but is showing 0 miles still
  2. The limit is now 40, which is more sensible as at 5 a day you can run 35 in a week. T Fantastic - thanks!! I was starting to worry ......
  3. Hi I've managed to get the database in 19 PQs, if that is any help - at least this way it falls into our weekly allowance!!! The only thing is, give it a couple of months and the database will exceed the 20 PQs allowed 1. 01/01/00 – 29/07/02 2. 30/07/02 – 29/03/03 3. 30/03/03 – 18/08/03 4. 19/08/03 – 23/01/04 5. 24/01/04 – 19/04/04 6. 20/04/04 – 26/06/04 7. 27/06/04 – 03/09/04 8. 22/08/04 – 26/11/04 9. 27/11/04 – 05/02/05 10. 06/02/05 – 23/03/05 11. 24/03/05 – 21/04/05 12. 22/04/05 – 21/05/05 13. 22/05/05 – 04/07/05 14. 05/07/05 – 13/08/05 15. 14/08/05 – 19/09/05 16. 20/09/05 – 28/10/05 17. 29/10/05 – 11/12/05 18. 12/12/05 - 21/01/06 19. 22/01/06 -
  4. Is this still a problem, only one of my bugs is still showing zero miles! Admittedly it hasn't gone far, but it has moved!! Or do they mean long term it will always be a few days before the miles update?
  5. thanks very much will enjoy the trip. ill check out the caches. Just borrowing Redfrock's computer!! Didn't realise posting as her!!! Little Miss Naughty
  6. thanks all! thats really kind . Am at work at the mo' so cannot access my email at home. Mine may not arrive until e.o.Feb - so I don't wish to borrow any that may be needed before that time. I can keep checking this until 2pm and then will be able to contact people from 6pm.
  7. Any idea where I can buy a travel bug and get it delivered by Thursday at the latest?? My 'source' has forgotten to bring the ones I bought back from the States with him (again!) and my friend goes on holiday to POland on Friday and I was hoping to send one with her to be released over there! I've emailed Alex but he is in the States until Friday so can't help!
  8. Geocoin How much?????? Wonder if it only cost them a fiver to begin with like most of our coins! That's some profit!!
  9. Hmmm - hadn't thought of that (it was late when I posted!!) He has done this to a few local caches, I can only think that it may be because we are somewhat lacking in caches locally ..... and may be he doesn't know about the post a note rather than double find etiquette - although i must admit it would seem to be common sense. However I didn't start this post to criticise Mark just to show what an odd thing has occurred. And I guess it may get to the point one day that I have to start re-visiting caches, we have that few locally!!!
  10. Please come from far and wide to support my buddy! Alas we are already booked to go on a (mainly caching!) holiday - some friends we are!
  11. No idea. Seems unlikely given what Mark says! Strange!
  12. ????? Please don't tell me we have a troublesome cacher locally! seems an odd thing to do (read Quiz Mark's log ....)
  13. Yes I am the proud owner of an I3! Hubby bought it for my birthday because of my job involving so much travelling ... although strangely it seems to disappear into his car a lot! But that aside we simply use the Philip's Street Atlas (pocket ed) series. they are fantastic. They are your normal A-Z but based on the OS maps. We then simply look up the British Grid ref and away we go. Although now I tend to cheat and put the road name into my I3 - saves my having to map read and miss the scenery. The maps are fab and range from about £3 - £6, although you can get them cheaper if you order them online @ WH Smith & then have them delivered to the store rather than pay the postage. we don't just use them for caching, they are vital when we are away camping. Back to the I3 - it should have come with a USB cable. You can then download all the speed cameras (fab and soooooooo accurate) and POI's. However am a technophobe so not quite got the linking of cache placement and I3. Still am happy getting there using a mix of old and new technology!!!
  14. From home there are a paltry 61 caches within a 25 radius. However the are only 9 within the first 10 miles!!!! 1 of these 9 is ours. 6 are currently unavailable. We have only 2 left to do within those 9 miles. Bear in mind that these distances are 'as the crow flies' so in actual fact some of the caches are much further away in reality than 25 miles recently one showed up on the new listings as being 30 something miles away. In actual fact it is over 80 miles to drive there! We live in Thanet, the cache was in Southend on Sea - GC.com seemed to think we could just hot foot it over the water
  15. I agree with you about the mission bit - I always attach the mission to the bug and would like to see others doing the same (apart from one time when it was written in Dutch so I didn't have a clue as to what I was meant to do with it!) BUT as someone wrote on their log for one of our TB's the longest journey starts with a single step and I think this is really true. Surely it is better for a bug to keep moving and maybe hook up with someone during its travels who may get it closer to its goal, then sit, languishing in a cache for months on end because no one can complete its goal. I personally would rather see my bugs going all over the place than sat in a box getting cold!!! Some of my bugs have missions to go anywhere and see any thing, others are more specific, including one to reach South Africa and one to visit 6 specific countries, but I know that not one person can get them there - they may need to go to several places and through goodness knows how many people before they reach their final destination and the more the better - it all adds to the interest of the bug and the logs to be read. And as for numbers ... PAH! ... I am definately not a number cruncher!! I just love what we do.
  16. Thanks Moote! Now I get it! Just one more question (she says... although you never know, more may follow) - if these archived caches subsequently become available, will GSAK update them and change them back to available? And all those that GSAK have already marked as unavailable, will it check those and change them as appropriate???? Ta x
  17. Merry Xmas All! Have got my GSAK and PQ's running perfectly and am dead chuffed to seee it updating regularly as clockwork. HOWEVER there is something I don't understand: My PQs are set to download the entire cache base every week (two reasons - easier and we never know where we shall end up at weekends, don't really want to get into the 'is it necessary' argument here) but I have noticed that on some of the caches some of the GSAK info has not updated and this is over a varying period between October and mid-December. It seems to be something to do with the 'LAST GPX' dates I hope this gibberish makes sense and maybe somebody can enlighten me .... please????? Claire
  18. A whole £5 , so that one on Ebay is an absolute fortune ..... and as usual people are getting bid-silly!
  19. We currently have 'Johnn' in our sticky mitts and intend to drop off either tomorrow or Tuesday - somewhere relatively local to us, i.e within 100 miles or so depending on which day we do it
  20. it gets better! Today he gave me my surprise (30th mumble mumble, hmmph, grimace) birthday present (2 weeks early) - my very own baby sat nav system! Just what I need for work and even better when trying to navigate through deepest darkest country side for that elusive cache starting point he must be after something! Oh and Alex ... I read your post out to him ..... which received a big frown (he's 6'3 and built like an All Black!!) ..... followed by a deep and hearty laugh (when I finally read out the second part of it) !! EDIT: when I say baby sat nav I mean an I3 - not something to find babies with - eugh! Just need to listen out for them
  21. I guess I am just a little bit suspicious ... always worried I will be asked if I have packed, sorry hidden, anything on behalf of someone else not forgetting the no sharp items rule!
