  1. That's awesome. I did not know I could do that. I have a whole area I can now explore without my handheld GPS. Thank you!
  2. Thank you for the reply. I will check my PQ log to see what I may have overlooked. Happy caching!
  3. I use the app on my phone but many of the caches are in places where I don't get cell service.
  4. Thanks all! What's the deal with PQ's? The first one I made came through fine, but I still haven't seen the second one.
  5. Hey all, I am just getting back into geocaching and have some questions. I am a premium member because I wanted to filter caches by type and size and wanted to use PQ's to send to my Garmin. 1. How do you all set yourself up for your day of geocaching if you have several? Do you take note of where they are and where to park? Print a map? Right now I have a Garmin full of caches and am not sure how to best get ready for the day. 2. I became a premium member again and the first PQ worked but I haven't seen one since. I tried with two lists yesterday. The first list was 11 caches and the second list was 18. Never got the second list. Thanks so much for your help and suggestions!
  6. Okay, so I was able to send a list of 11 caches in my area to my GPS using EasyGPS. Is there any reason I should NOT be using EasyGPS because it seemed, well, so easy.
  7. The Garmin WebUpdater is not working so I am going to uninstall Garmin Express and related files and try EasyGPS, but I'll porbably go back to GSAK. I do have my notes with special tag info and I think it will come back to me once I dive in. I certainly appreciate all the info. I am looking forward to many finds this summer!
  8. "Garmin Express does not support this device. Please use Garmin WebUpdater." Not exactly sure what that means. Installing updates. Gonna reboot.
  9. I don't mind! I will try Garmin Express and let you know.
  10. I just downloaded EasyGPS. If I can't figure that out I will try GSAK but it'll probably eat up the rest of the weekend!
  11. I haven't used GSAK in 7 years. Eeek!
  12. I just paid and became a premium member. I saw the two options for Send to Garmin and Send to GPS and I will disregard teh Send to GPS feature. Should I use Garmin Express? Is it still functional? Does it work with all browsers? Or should I use EasyGPS?
  13. Good tip. I have my Garmin out and am refreshing my knowledge of it. I just found my notes on using GSAK, but am going to check out the tutorial and see if any of it comes back to me. I am just so happy to be back at it!
  14. I think I will become a premium member again, only because I'd like to know the size of the cache. I guess I will have to figure all this software out again. I remmeber it being a bit of a long process, but I am not sure I can enter each cache manually. Thanks for your replies!
  15. It's been a long time since I have been geocaching but my Garmin 60CSx still works well so I'm hoping to take some time this summer and explore the area. I have been trying to catch up on PQs, Lists, Send to GPS, GSAK and the like and I'm feeling overwhelmed. I mean, I can't even remember the lingo of geocaching so I'm not sure how I'm going to figure out how to load my unit. I'm seeing a lot of functionality has been lost over the years so what's the process now, and can someone link me to the best tutorial on the subject? Thanks so much!
  16. Thanks for the info on clearing out the GPS unit. It makes perfect sense!
  17. What great information! I had no idea about the calendar function on the GPS, nor did I know about downloading PQs into my iPhone. This keeps getting more and more fun! Thanks so much.
  18. I answered one of my questions. I was able to clear/delete all waypoints stored in the unit to make way for the new files, which is glorious because they now all have names that I can use, but is this the way it is done every time you add a new PQ? Thanks!
  19. OKAY, I fixed this issue. I deleted all the waypoints out of GSAK and reloaded the zip file, then I was able to export the file to mapsource, but now I am having other issues. I sent the file to my Garmin and now I have double entries on my GPS. One entry with the previous smart name and the new file with the names the way I want them. I was able to create a new file in Mapsource and retrieve the file from my GPS, but the files are still on my GPS. Questions: 1. How do I get clear files on my GPS to make new for new ones? 2. How do I get the "found" caches that I marked as such to actually show up as found at geocaching.com? I don't see any of my finds showing up in the GSAK file that came from my PQ. 3. I would also like to know if I can use my iPhone offline in places where I don't get cell reception so that I can see cache details and log my caches. I am going to keep playing with this and maybe I'll be able to answer some of my own questions.
  20. I am catching on, or so I thought! I had a wonderful inperson tutorial with Team Laxson, and then I decided I wanted to tweak the settings and change the way point names. Now I've got a problem. I am using GSAK and Mapsource and am loading caches as waypoints. I decided I wanted to view the names on my unit using the following tags: %typ1%con1%drop2 %dif1a %ter1a Now I have double entries in both GSAK and Mapsource and I can't seem to get rid of them. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
  21. I just purchased a new Garmin and am about ready to return it because it feels too complicated. Is anyone in the Denver/Boulder area interested in providing an in-person tutorial of the Garmin 60CSx, geocaching.com premium features, Mapsource and GSAK? Drop me a PM. Have laptop, will travel. Thanks!
  22. Randco - I am not a Buff. Went to school at Western State in Gunnison, which is maybe why I can't figure out my new GPS?
  23. My daughter has a guinea pig named Moji and we live in the mountains.
