Why can't you all use English in all logs and descriptions. I don't want to study dozens of languages to be able to understand what is going on in Geocaching all over the world.
  2. Why don't you put your question here? GpxView
  3. quote:Originally posted by gessner17:Just to let everyone know, I submitted a request to Garmin to have their software have the option to change all waypoint icons. I did this about a month ago. I have done that to, a couple of months ago, but with all the other tools it doesn't fell that important anymore
  4. quote:Originally posted by Huga:http://www.iancowley.co.uk/caching, an application I've written, will do it for you. It doesn't talk to the GPs, so you'll need to use something such as EasyGPS to get the waypoints off your GPS. Once you have the file, import it into EasyMPS, set the output options and export to a GPX or LOC file, then re-upload to your GPS! -- **Mother is the name of God on the lips of all children** Now I have tried it, and found it very nice! Thanks!!
  5. I have an old iPaq 3660 with WinCE 3.0 and I can't get GPXViewer to work. Are there any other tool that does the trick om my vintage PDA?
  6. Ozieplorer, which I consider an excellent tool all the way, also does the trick!

Example, type: 5.7 in to mm in the search window and it well automatically be understood as a conversion from inches to millimeters. The first line listed will be: 5.7 in = 144.78 millimeters Google has a lot of neat hidden/unknown features as well as several specialty search categories. I just love the catalog search. http://catalog.google.com/ ------------------- John - ardfarkle@d30.info Excellent tip. I guess I am, or was, just a traditional boring user of search engines
  8. quote:Originally posted by ardfarkle:My overall length came out about the same as yours, but I came up with a slightly wider dimension. I wanted to visualize how it might fit in my kit so I edited an image and added dimensions to it. http://www.d30.info/offsite/GPS60_dims.jpg I based these dimensions upon a 1.5" x 2.2" 'visible' screen area. If the 1.5" x 2.2" refers to the 'active' area, then the dimensions may be as much as 5-10% greater than those listed. ------------------- John - ardfarkle@d30.info [This message was edited by ardfarkle on October 15, 2003 at 04:34 AM.] Looking forward to a new drawing with millimeters

    Winter Caching

Since we are quite a few cachers in the north I suggest a classification of the caches: Either it is a winter cache or not. It could save some unnecessary trips. It is not fun to find that a road is closed during winter, or that the cache is under 2 meters of snow. I realize that it can be hard to determin but at least a "No winter cache" could be a solution, or?
  10. There are re-radiating antennas on the market that you can use with your Legend. I am sure that you can find something here GPS Info
  11. Why don't you drop a mail to Gustaf. It is his page isn't it? quote:Originally posted by CyberJunkie:Anyone know if this page still is up? http://www.geocaching.info.se/ It was some time since the last update! /CyberJunkie _"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former...."_
  12. quote:Originally posted by Gustaf:Earlier today, http://www.geocaching.com/profile/default.asp?A=26205 placed his 100th cache in Sweden! It's amazing how someone can place that many caches. I have a hard time maintaining my 13 caches And http://www.geocaching.com/profile/default.asp?A=26205 has only archived 2 of his. He must have spent a fortune on lunch boxes. [This message was edited by Gustaf on June 21, 2003 at 03:02 PM.] And he has found a couple as well I am impressed that he can figure out all of those different kind of caches, there is a lot of different kinds Congratulations to #100 Cyberjunkie, and may the satellites be with you! /jasy
  13. You can try www.utsidan.se and the market there. /jasy
  14. I used to work with GPS and I surfed to every site that was related. That is how it started for me. My first try was Dr Alban and my first success was Americana Cache, one of the real oldies My first own was Garmin Challenge. I tried to intrest the GPS distributors by placing a cache close to their premises and send them a mail. That did not work out so well

    And increasing again

quote:Originally posted by ArktiS: How about the "quality"? Are your caches worth finding? Are they in nice places? Please elaborate ... Where I live I find that some caches almost "can be reached from the car-door" because they are placed close to parking areas in the road side. Such caches are not worth going for I believe. Quality over quantity! As you probably know we are an outdoor people and hence the many caches are a bit demanding. I don't understand why you have to question this At least the caches I have visited in DK have resulted in at least a short walk /jasy
[This message was edited by frenne on February 27, 2003 at 06:52 AM.] Jag brukar skriva på engelska men är inte helt konsekvent. Men av hänsyn till internationella cachare så borde man hålla sig tll engelska.
  18. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=259 This is a ammobox of the "american kind"

  20. 1006 GC in Sweden right now. Obviously a bunch have been approved now! And Garmin have to rewrite their firmware, will you notify them Anders? /jasy
  21. quote:Originally posted by Elias: quote:Originally posted by Captain_Morgan&Family:Well, i mailed Jeremy and asked him to change the name of this forum to "Nordic countries". I didn't see the e-mail you sent in, but I went ahead and changed the name of this forum for you. My apologies if the countries I listed for this forum aren't appropriate. In an attempt to figure out what countries were appropriate, I found a http://www.goscandinavia.com web site that listed these countries on the front page. As a typical American, my knowledge of world geography is nothing short of appalling. To make matters worse, I'm a tech guy, so I'm almost hopeless. If you'd like me to alter the countries listed for this forum, just e-mail me at admin at Groundspeak and I'll be happy to make the changes. -Elias This is democracy for you /jasy
  22. Exciting! Who will be number 1000? Maybe we should celebrate in some form?! /jasy
  23. quote:Originally posted by Ka-Ka:The name is not really important. The important thing is what we write here. I don't mind if this forum section still is call Scandinavia (and we include Finnish people anyway). Of course it is important, why do you think I started this thread /jasy
  24. That is a more appropriate title :-) Who will mail Jeremy? /jasy
