  1. Here in Arizona we almost EXPECT to see a rattler now and then....especially out in the desert. As everyone has said the #1 rule is DONT put your hands OR feet where you cannot see! That and dont keep your eyes fixed on the trail 2 feet in front you...try to scan the trail and sides 8-10' ahead of where you plan to walk. Those 2 things and water and you should be fine. Have Fun! 4. We in Az have had cache Karma for along time...see this page. last column. "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." Yogi Berra
  5. Ive had both and put Delorme in a Cache. Been using NG Topo! for about 4 years now and find it excellent for use in Az. Not real great for cities as the base maps are USGS 1:24k topos that are a bit old but for off roading and backwoods stuff its great. Ive loaded it on the laptop and use it for live tracking (with a G3+) in the backcountry and find it VERY accurate. When im on a FS road that is on the map my track is very seldom off more then a few feet. "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." 6. Garmin states non WASS or DGPS to be accurate to 15 meters (about 45') but I find my G3+ to be at least twice that accurate. At least with a good view. "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." Yogi Berra
  7. Wouldnt this setup be great for caching? "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." Yogi Berra
  8. Jeep Wrangler works great for us here in Az. "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." Yogi Berra
  9. Things have slowed here a bit from a peak in Mar. Of corse it is starting to get a bit "warm" here and now most of the National forest is closed to entry. To see Az stat activity try this page. 10. Not exactly Geocache oriented but I do alot of cacheing offroad. so heres <---- mine. "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." Yogi Berra
  11. Unless you have the interface cable you will need to enter the co ords manually. If you do have the cable go and download Easy GPS (its free) and that will be all you need to get co ords into your GPSr. If you need to enter them see the owners manual here for your model. Good luck! "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." Yogi Berra

  13. Same holds true for most Arizona forests as well. You can check here for info on both states "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." Yogi Berra
  14. Check out Garmin blue charts. for some info. "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." Yogi Berra
  15. Ban GPS use by civilians because terrorists may have been aided by it....I say get to the heart of the matter....ban civilian air travel! I really dont think either will happen. Even with SA on they still would have had 100 meter accuracy, Id say with a target that size 500 meters would be close enough. "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." Yogi Berra
  16. You can only load maps provided by Garmin into Garmin GPSrs. You can load waypoints and routes from the software. "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." Yogi Berra
  17. As stated above these are aviation units...and old...Besides 8 channels they arnt paralell receivers ( receive more than one sat at a time ). Fine if you are moving 150 MPH in a rather constant heading with a clear view of the sky...but walking at 1 mph in tree cover etc. it rather lags a bit. So if you arnt in a hurry it will work...bur rather frustrating...Id look at a basic etrex yellow for around $100 "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." 19. Try posting something in the south/southwest regional forum and see if you can locate any locals willing to help you out. "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." Yogi Berra

  21. Maybe you guys dont get it...there are sites out there that post the stats ( like the one I linked to earlier in this thread). One site is even international ( dont have the link right now )and I know there are others. They do this with software that "crawls" the geocaching.com Wed site and pulls all the log info and compiles it into statistical format. So even if Jeremy were to remove them they are still just a click away....get over it they are just stats... "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." Yogi Berra
  22. Ive seen some fake rocks at Home Depot that are planters on top...but cant remember what the cost was...seems they were a bit pricey, but less then 50 I think and they were rather good size, easily fit a 50 cal ammo can under. but rather light...might blow away in a strong wind unless rocks were placed in the planter area...which might be a giveaway. Ive also seen some with out door speakers in them... now with a small cassette player with a tape that repeated "over here" every 30 seconds or so and trigered by a motion sensor and battery....oh this could be fun.....wait what about 3 of them saying "over here" placed about 30 feet apart... "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." Yogi Berra
  23. Well in Az anyway we have 9 people in the top 100 hiders that have zero finds...some people like to hide, some like to find....no big deal. We have one person with a 157:32 find hide ratio...so if some people like to find only I dont see it as a prob....but then we have over 550 caches here so.... Check here for the stats "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." Yogi Berra
  24. If there was an actual Garlic Mustard product Im thinking it would be great on a pastrami sandwhich. Anyone been to the Gilroy Ca. Garlic Festival and seen such a thing??? "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." Yogi Berra
  25. quote:Originally posted by The GeoGadgets Team: It's not whether or not you pick your nose that matters, but where you put the booger...
