  1. I use the Android App and am fed up with having to go out of the App and remove it from the recent list and then reboot or.. Move the location I am looking at on the map to something many miles away to get it reloading a different area and then come back to what I want to look at. All this messing around could be stopped if the tech guys for the App could install a refresh button. Nothing worse than being outside and having the App running and an email comes over for a new cache local to you but you cannot see it because you can't do a refresh.. Bet I'm not the only one tired of this scenario. Please do some work on the App
  2. Right guys.. I've done a little digging. It's a bit of a faff but if you take a copy of your profile sections that use Photobucket and save them in a notepad for reference. Then looking at these saves you can see WHO has uploaded the pics to PB. Assuming you have a free account on PB you can search for these pics by looking for the user and then copy the pic to your own library. Use the 3 lines to the left of the pic and press copy. When the pop up appears select your own bucket. Bit tedious I know but...!! Once you have these pics go back to your bucket and download them to your Hdd. That is done by selecting the "gear" top right of the pic and selecting download. Create an account on Tinypics website and up load the pics to there. Use the link for websites and replace those in your profile with the ones from Tinypic not forgetting to add to the link any resizing that needs doing. Almost caught me out that bit.. Eh Voila once you save your profile you should have all your pics back again and in your own library and NOT on Robbing-basket err I mean Photobucket lol Have fun. Give me a shout if you have problems. Peter, Piggy53
  3. Any comments or suggestions re the Photobucket debacle. ?? I have a few pictures up there which I have re-acquired but quite a few of my profile page achievements have gone blank because of their decision to stop third-party access. I for one will not pay to use the system and wonder what everybody elses thoughts are. ?
  4. Seems that GS is getting just like Facebook.... Making changes that no-one has asked for or wants and always for the detriment of the website and its users. Betamaps it may have been but it worked, except on a smart phone. That was its only downfall. To the majority of its users it did the business so why mess it up.. I can't believe its about money either. Was anyone asked at any time about costs and possible ways to generate more funds. Is it a funds problem at all.??? Are we just assuming it is. Who knows.. Put it back the way it was GS and sort out the mobile issue and all will be well again.
  5. I'm not saying I use Google THAT close. But it IS possible to view in detail at that level and not a 36 x 22 MILE area that Mapquest gives.. I often use goolemaps option in the field to help find the best path to take. Can't even see Major roads with the set of maps we have now.. If this is an upgrade with all the technology we have in the world at our disposal then gawd help us if we ever downgrade. Besides we are paying for this service remember...
  6. If you need to zoom in that close to a cache, then use the Google or Bing map links from the cache page. You will be too close to see its relationship to other nearby caches anyway.
  7. What a load of rubbish the new maps are.. For everyones sake bring back GoogleMaps.. I've just done a check and with Google Maps I can scan right down to less than the size of my garage roof top. Drawing a line across the screen measures just 6 feet across and 4 feet down.. To even get an aerial pic on my page with Mapquest the screen covers an area of 36 MILES across and 22 MILES down. Wow what a resolution that is... Get it off and bring Google back... Rant over..
  8. At the end of the day it is the cache owner who has the choice to accept the find. If he/she finds the person logging has not done enough then he can delete that log if required. I went to Italy and doubt I will return but still only logged a dnf after realising a cache had been muggled. Why... Because I never found the cache only it's resting place.
  9. Personally I find 90% of caches posted with coords taken using an iPhone are out. Usually 'way' out and would advise any user of phone apps to seek help from a proper GPS user before posting their lovely new caches..
