  1. Sure, I'll trade one of my Haughton's Hunters/Arizona coins for one of these. Expected delivery on mine is mid to late Feb. I'll email you my name & address. Return the favor and I'll add you to my list. Thanks!
  2. If it is a business, I highly doubt gc would allow for their logo to be used (unless some business arrangement is made). No, it's even BETTER for Groundspeak. To use their logo on an item you are selling, you pay 10% of the cost of the item. So, for each piece of the puzzle coin, they are getting $1.50 + 10% of the final cost (which I would say will include the $1.50). So, if they sell for $8.00, Groundspeak gets $2.30 per coin instead of $1.50. I have asked about selling items with their logo and was granted permission at a 10% comission. I personally don't think 10% is out of line, it's the $1.50 I still don't care for but will accept as the price of making a more valued coin. As long as he is paying the $1.50 tracking number fees, my understanding of the new rules is he can post his links to that particular coin. If I"m wrong, feel free to correct it (Eartha/FSM/??) 3. Hey, was out caching today and was talking with my fellow cacher and an idea just popped into my head. I know it would never fly, but seems to me if I have a coin series, say a minimum of 100 coins, made with geocaching.com tracking numbers on them (at $1.50 each), sure would be a nice gesture of Groundspeak to give me a free year of Premium membership. I mean hey, for me giving them $150, all I'm asking in return is $35. So their cut would still be $115!. Now if I did a run of 500 or 1000? I think it would be a year subscription per series minted. And yes, if I made 10 different coins (additional runs would not count), I would get 10 years worth of membership. And do you think this will be around for 10 years? Who knows, but I wouldn't mind having the membership banked just in case! So Groundspeak, can I have a free year just for coming up with this idea?
  4. Very nice, but only one suggestion. As your team name is SoMDCacherz, why not capitalize it on the coin that way? It may be the internet corrupting me, but when I see the name at a quick glance, I see SodomCacherz, which I'm sure you do not want people associating you with (no pun intended). Other than that (and that probably just being my sick and twisted mind), it's very nice.
  5. I am sure that is much better Hehe.. I was thinking more along the lines of "what to MAKE it crappy sentence structure?". j/k..j/k!! But in all seriousness, when you're brewing, things tend to get a little foggy. I really need to make more mead. <SIGH>
  6. GoBolts! and allinfun. Your trades are welcome. Send me your email address and I'll add you to my list. As a note, here's my only problem at this time. As most of my trades are happenning with the makers of the coins, I don't know exactly which coins I will end up with. So if I specify which of yours I want, I may end up with multiple of the same if the owner has made or wants to trade with me. So here's what I'm doing. I will hold the number of coins you want (3 in total between the two of you). When all the trading has died down, I will contact you to see what you have for trade. If you have something I do not have, I would be happy to trade with you. If that sounds good, please email me at geocaching{at}allallens(dot)com. Thanks and I hope to trade with you!
  7. Hi, yes , it is all right, you will be contacted about paying. We will contact everyone next week. Thanks for the understanding Bah! Guess I could have just read this message! Sorry, I'll wait.
  8. 50% Czech here, mom's 100%. I've ordered 2 but got no confirmation email or request for payment?? Should I have? I've never ordered through here before, so I'm pretty new. Any guidance would be appreciated! Thanks!
  9. Date for release is expected mid to late February. Just got that info back from the minter. As I get more info I will post here as well as email anyone that has contacted me for trading or purchasing the gold coins. I will be sure to post the images of the proofs when I get them, etc. nielsenc, I honestly have no idea. I know the gold isn't solid gold and the sliver isn't solid silver. I'm sure they all have the same base metal, but I have no clue what it is. My point is some finishes cost more than others but a "cheaper" finish does not in any way exclude a trade. I have seen trades that are "like metal trades only", this is not one of those.
  10. You can always pre-sell coins (I've done this a few times, dood). Yes, you can, but I've always had mixed feelings about that. I rather not take the chance of some little thing going wrong and screwing it all up.
  11. As a addendum to the above, this is also why I have not (and will not) refuse a trade for a gold coin. If I'm offered a brass (or whatever the cheapest metal is) coin that is non-trackable, I will accept the trade. Many of these will probably also end up in caches as there was no out of pocket for me to get my coins made. Thanks for looking! Edit to add this: I will not turn down a trade for another minted coin. I will not trade for wood/plastic/etc. coins. Metal coin trades only. Just wanted to clarify.
  12. It's a real simple answer actually. If you agree to let them sell a certain amount on their store, they may front the cost of minting for you. Of course, this also requires that you make more than you may have intended. In my case, I was only going to make 100, but we worked a deal so that my out of pocket was actually nothing. They then keep 400 to sell on their storefront and ship me the original 100 I wanted. In my case it worked out extremely well because I was able to do 100 gold for me to do with as I please and 400 silver that they sell. I still would not be minting at this point if I had to come up with the cash for the 100 I wanted originally. So their system allowed me to get the coins I wanted made sooner than expected. Go check out their page for more details. From what I got, they don't always do this, but it's worth asking about if you're a bit short on funds. They may be even more willing if you have some of the cash to pay for minting, but that's purely my speculation.
  13. I"m not sure. I asked the same question of when they will be delivered when I sent the "go for it" message, but that was only shortly before I posted here, so I have not heard back yet.
  14. Yes, it will be trackable. Final paperwork went in today, minting should start soon. 100 Gold numbered 001-100 400 Silver numbered 101-500 Silver will be sold on GeocoinStore.com for $7.50 ea (plus their S&H). Gold will be traded & sold on GeoCoins.net for an as of yet undetermined price. Maybe $8.50 + $2.00 (domestic) S&H per order up to 5 coins max each order (unlimited orders). If interested in trade, please email me at geocaching@allallens.com. I will make a list. Also let me know if you want a specific number. If it is available, I'll get it to you. Not all 100 will be traded, I have not determined how many gold will be traded/sold yet. Right now, I know that 9 of the gold will not be sold or traded. Other than that, it's just a matter of demand I guess. Include in your email Real Name Geo Name (Please, so I know who's who in the forum when I try to keep up with the thread) Shipping Address Thanks!
  15. Posting in any forum now incurrs a $1.00 charge to your membership. And if you don't have a premium membership, you can no longer view the forums. Thank you.
  16. IMHO, it's not that they decided they were behind, it's the cost. If it were say $0.10 a coin or MAYBE even $0.25 per coin, that would be reasonable with all the coins that are being made. But to pay $1.50 per coin is..again, IMHO...crazy. All it does is drive up the cost of the coin from say $5.50 to $7.00, or $6.00 to $7.50. Is it worth it? Don't know, that number seems to make the coin more collectable. Will I put them on my coins when made? Probably, but not because I expect them to be tracked anywhere. Just because it helps them sell. <SIGH> Someone help me, I'm getting sucked towards the dark side!
  17. Because the other sites have not pissed them off, thats why. I think the bigger reason is the fact that $3.00 a month is a LOT easier to swallow than $1.50 per coin. If these other sites were charging $1.50 per coin to list, I bet they would be doing very little business.
  18. No, they charge 10% actually. I've asked. You can make (I think) 100 or 150 personal items with the GC logo at no royalty. If you are going to sell a product with their logo on it, their cut is 10%. Not horrible as far as royalties go I guess. Just an FYI.
  19. Well, it happened once, so I'll throw the one in I like too. I use the geocoins.net forums. It's a fairly new forum with only a few users, but there are no restrictions in the forums. As stated, there are 3 coins in there with no problems.
  20. I agree with several of the posts here. I'm looking at creating a coin for sale/trade. I don't really want to put a GC trackable number on it as it just raises the cost. But if it's the only way that I can get the word out here is to make them trackable, I may do it. I don't really know. It has always seemed like a lot of money for the ability to track something that will not actually be placed in a cache (or if it is, it won't be put in many before it's snagged and "collected"). There are other places out there that allow full posting of where you have your coin for sale. I have a prefered one, though it's very small right now, but there are currently people listing coins (myself included) that are either currently for sale or will be. These posts will be added to when the coin is for sale with a link of where to buy from with no fear of reprocussion. If you want the site info, let me know as (as it has been stated before) I'm sure if I post it openly, it will get deleted. Best of luck to GC.com, but I think the greed is really getting the better of them. I enjoy the sport, but at some point you have to step back and take a look at the big picture again. -Haughton - Haughton's Hunters
  21. http://www.geocoins.net They have standard coins for sale and you can have custom coins created as well if you supply the artwork. So you could have your own custom state coins made for each state you cache/cached in.
  22. As you are stating prices, Geocoins.net is very inexpensive. Of course, they also sell wooden coins meant for trading or actually more of a signature item. Cost is only $0.50 per coin with orders in multiples of 10. They will also do custom coins with a one time setup charge of only $20.00. Then you can order as many as you want for the $0.50 each. All artwork is kept on file so if you order again later, there is no setup charge again. For the price, you really can't beat it.
  23. Are you looking for that unique team item? A signature item with your team name on it to leave at the caches you've found? Check out Geocoins.net We may have the answer you're looking for. Wooden coins with various logos on them and customized with your geo name or team name on them. Latest additions to our catalog include the Gustav design and the GX design. Check the site occasionally as we do add more designs as we come up with them. Custom designs are also available for a one time set up fee
