  1. For sure!! I'm from washington state currently doing a stint at the UCC office working with VBS programs. Do you know of any SDA geocaching clubs? If not, we should see about getting one together. Yes, we are in North West Washington. We got started from another Adventist family and we have been caching on and off for 5 years. It would be great to get a group together. There are a few cachers up in our area.
  2. Hi, I will be leaving the Seattle area on March 19, to go with my school on a history tour of Greece and Turkey. I will be doing some caching while there, and I would be happy to place your TB for you. Please email me for information of where to send the TB if you haven't already taken care of this. 3. Thanks for asking this questions and getting me started, but I am still having a terrible time with it. When I try to Export from GSAK - it tells me Note: Do not try to open the file that GSAK generates – it should be imported (see import wizard) It won’t save anything as a “text file” So I go to MS S&T and it looks for what file GSAK has saved, but it hasn't saved anything. In fact I looked in every folder and none of them even show files in text format. What am I doing wrong? I even tried to save it in the CVS format, but then can't seem to find it once I try to Import it. I looked at the link "Import Data Into M$ Streets & Trips" and it talks about downloading GPS Babel. Must I download that to get it to work, and if so, which one for Windows XP? There were so many choices.
  4. I got a HPiPAQ for caching. I have downloaded GSAK into the computer, but can't figure out how to make it work. I did get a list of caches in my area, but they are all listed as 1 difficulty and 1 terrain, yet the webpage shows them as a variety. Since I have GSAK loaded, it will no longer let me download into my GPS using GPS Easy. What should I be using? Has anyone used the cachemate for NON-Palm? All I am able to find is for Palm users. How does that work? Where does GPX Sonar, Spinner and all the other software come into play? Does someone have a link telling step by step how to get the information into both the PDA and the GPS? Thank you for all the upcoming answers. I'll keep watching.
  5. I am looking for the easiest and fastest way to download the software I need to start using my PDA for geocaching this weekend. Are there any links I can go to that will show me, or does anyone have the time to list out the directions. I have found things for Palm, but not PPC type of PDAs. Also, do I just need GSAK on my computer and Cachemate on my PDA? Has anyone tried the new cachemate for PPC, and what do you think. Thank you for your help.
  6. Thank you everyone for your input. I will do some comparisons shopping now. I appreciate all the help from my fellow cachers. Who know, you might see me on the trail some day.
  7. Thank you for the information. I haven't even started looking at paperless caching units, since I wasn't sure what to look for. Looks like people like both ways of doing it. I figure for now, I'll probably get one just for geocaching. As for Why you trying to use "SIZE=14"? That's huge. Like this! You forgot the "/size" command. I have not posted on here, and am learning it as I go. Sorry if it was too big for you.
  8. I am trying to decide which PDA to use for Geocaching. Most of what I have found is written regarding the Palm versions. Can the Pocket PC be used also? Are they harder to use? Should I get a cheap version for geocaching, and then a seperate one for other applications? Thank you for any input you can give.
  9. I really like this coin. Our neighbors are from Alberta, and we wanted to introduce them to geocaching. This would be a cool way to start. I'd like to place it in the first cache they get to, so they could have it as a gift. I would like 2 of them please. Thanks!!!
  10. I am really getting into geocaching. It gives me an opportunity to be outdoors and see a lot of places I would have never gone. I get to spend time with my family and friends along the way. We've had many hours of good times and laughs. We've met new friends along the ways. It gives us that quality time with our children. Only a few more years and they will be out of the house, then we won't have them around as much. I want to take advantage of it while I can. When you are at a movie or watching TV, you don't get a change to know the people around you better. If your playing video games, you're so zoned in you don't even notice when people come into the room. So all in all, I love geocaching and the closeness it has brought between us and others.
  11. I will be in the Gladstone, Oregon area on July 23. Does anyone know easy finds that I could take my dad to that just had knee surgery? He can't do a lot of walking. He went with me once before, and thought it would be a neat hobby to take up. I want to give him another chance to enjoy it. Thanks
