  1. Hi! I had a Garmin Etrx last time I geocached a few years ago and I liked it well enough. It was stolen and I need a new one. Can someone tell me which gps around $100 I should get? We picked up a Triton 200 this morning but then I came on here and the Tritons sound reall bad. Thanks!
  2. I've searched and searched and I can't find any caches in the Winchester Bay area that are accesabile by ATV's. I think I'm just not working in the right spot. Help?
  3. Are there any threads on how to create cool cache pages? I don't know how to add hit counters, html or flash but would like to be able to do some of that. Shoot, I only just figured out how to add attributes. If for some reason there aren't any threads on this already, wanna start one?
  4. I know this doesn't answer your question but....... I make my own. I'm a scrapbooker so it's second nature for me but it's so easy, anyone can do it. ETA- mine are also smaller than those sold in the above post. mine are appox. 1x2
  5. So, we are going to Mexico in January. La Paz to be exact. How can I search for caches in that area? The search pages just gives me all of Mexico.
  6. Oww, that just hurts my brain. Maybe when the kids and grown and moved away I'll feel more adventours. (sp)
  7. I really am too dumb........ I don't even want to count the dnf's I have. I was dnf on a 1/1 just today. I looked at the logs and everyone who has looked for this has found it....Even in the dark!........I think I need to turn my brain off when I go geocaching.
  8. What is your favorite hide. One that youve done yourself. And why? Well I've only hid 2. So far, neither are a favorite.
  9. Thanks for the reply. If anyone else wants to give input, we have to drive I-84 on the way back home too. I'll check the site while I'm on the road.

Hi All, I'm travelling your way from Oregon next week and want to take my very agile for being 80+ grandparents caching. They live on Parker St in Omaha. Can someone give me a cache listing close to there please? Also, we will be staying at Louisville State Recreation Area. If someone could send me a listing from that area as well, I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much!
  12. We placed our first cache today and the for the FTF we left a certificate and a wooden mechanical pencil that my 11 makes (and sells for $12). We intend this to be a prize/gift. They are in a bag together. If someone chooses not to take the pencil, then it turns into a trade item.
  13. We placed our first cache today and we are looking forward to placing more. We have 2 theme ones in mind. A take a quickfish, leave a quickfish type and a trade a handmade item type. The instructions for both will be on the cache page as well as very noticible inside the cache. Of coarse I do realize that people don't always listen/read and know it won't stay the way we want it to but we'll do our best anyway.
  14. We'll be travelling along I-84 from Portland Oregon to Omaha Nebraska. We've hit a couple caches along the stretch from Portland to Pendleton but would like to get more this trip. If anyone can point me in the direction of not too difficult caches along this route, I would be really grateful. Oh, we are definately hitting that popular one in Hood River.
  15. We have never cached with someone else. once in a while we take some cousins with us, but they aren't geocachers. But we now know other families who cache in our area and it would be fun to cache with them.
  16. We would love to find more books in caches. don't forget kid books too. We found one Nancy Drew and my 11yo son snatched that up. He rarely takes things because things are generally too young or too old for him. But books in ziplocs are great. Even if they are used.
  17. I'll play. Our goal is to get to the 100 mark. We would also like to be a FTF once. Simple goals to happen by August 31st.
  18. sometimes I'm a 1 and sometimes I'm a 3.
  19. When we find a cache that we think is out of place, we always put it back where we found it (in case we were wrong) but then email the owner and post in the logs that we think it has been moved.
  20. I would like to find if there are certain travel bugs travelling around out there. Is there a way to do a keyword search?
  21. My kids learned about Geohuns and upswagging this past week although until now, I didn't have a name to put with it.
  22. someone who doesn't get geocaching wouldn't get this but yesterday I found a wouldn't nickel which I believe is a signature item from snowman. The kids didn't understand that I was excited to get my first sig item. LOL
  23. We are new too. Don't underestimate the power of a 10yo. LOL My 11 yo is pretty handy on the GPS (we use a Magellen) I've only just this past week surpassed him on GPS skill. My 7 yo is catching on fast and can follow the compass and the knows to watch for the feet getting smaller. (Wow, I'm techinical huh?) Put together a pack with something like water and granola bars. Nothing worse than hot, hungry kids. Also, make sure everyone wears pants, not shorts. Maybe those zip off pants so you can convert them to shorts if the kids get hot and you aren't on a bushy cache.
  24. Wow, alot of you are more tenacious than I ever hope of being! We've gone back and then found one. We plan on going back to another. DH spent 45 minutes looking for one that I gave up on after 10 minutes. It was hot, and I didn't feel good. If I don't find something withing 10-15 minutes, I'm done.
  25. Of the few caches we searched for, 1 had a serious problem. We never did find it but neither did several other people who like us I admit trampled a lot of ground down. But you know what? I learned a lesson. If I feel that coordinates are taking me off of a real path, in the future, I'll probably choose not to go. I'm not a tree hugger either, but I don't want to help goverment and enviromentalist be pissed at geocachers either.
