  1. We can guess once an hour? How about Archery and Crew/Rowing.
  2. You will not be disappointed! And does that mean your paypal issues are behind you? I hope so! jrr
  3. Today, not in my mailbox but at an event: New Tiki Stackers in Bronze. (And got to admire Silver #1). And the mailbox yielded: Rainforest Jewel V2 Relax it's only a Gecoin Let it Snow
  4. Congratulations! I'll guess: Equestrian and Crew/Rowing
  5. First: Happy Birthday scavok! Second: I'm a big Tolkien fan and have always loved that poem in the "Fellowship of the Ring." In fact jrr is shortened from my first nickname which was jrrNOTtolkien. As for a random act of kindness story, this is the reason I originally got a Paypal account. Years ago I was a moderator of a small forum (back then I think we still called it a board). That board, much like this place, had a sense of community. When one of the active posters was diagnosed there was a great desire to help her out. While she did have health insurance, she was self employed. She didn't not want to take time off after her surgery, even though her doctors were recommending she take at least month to recover. After many secret PMs, everyone wanted to raise some money for her. And since I was scheduled to visit the city where she lived (and am a doctor) I got nominated to actually present her with the funds. Since board members were scattered across the country, I had to get a Paypal account to keep track of all the money. Naturally donations of $5, $20, even $50 started coming in. Then one day there was another $2000 dollars in the account. Turned out a couple (both of whom posted on the board) were scheduled to attend some big fancy dress up gala fund raiser (with celebrities and every thing). They decided instead of attending they would donate the money to the board's breast cancer fund. They also swore me to secrecy about the amount they had contributed. In the end more than 100 folks contributed, but that couple's contribution amounted to half the check I eventually presented. Now that I've written all that, not sure the act of kindness was totally "random" but seems in the spirit of the thread. jrr
  6. Yeah but can someone tell me what these guys are doing playing on Saturday?? It is Saturday isn't it??
  7. Glad we were able to help & welcome to Geocoins. Looks like you were able to retrieve the coin okay. You don't get to keep the coin, but you do get to "keep" the icon that shows up under your "trackable" profile. jrr
  8. It looks to me like you found TBWGTR GA Cacher's 2006 Mississippi Geocoin. It is logged into the cache you found today. You have found a traveling coin, which you can retrieve from the cache and then drop it off in another cache. If you click on the link in this e-mail, you will go to the coin's page. Then click the "found it? log it!" link in the upper right. For the travel bug tracking number use the 6 digit code on the coin itself. As for log type, choose "Retrieve from..." Once you do this the coin will show up in "your inventory" and will be there for you to drop off in another cache. jrr
  9. So Hawaii is technically part of the US (though it is in the middle of a pond....). Seriously, for some more "down under" releasing get in touch with Team Webguy I don't think he visits the forums much, but he loves to release coins near Sydney. We attended an event of his when we were there earlier this year so tell him we sent you. jrr
  10. Yeah pack up those Rainforest Jewels to BJ Thomas and Raindrops Keep Fallin' "But there's one thing I know, the blues they send to meet me Won't defeat me, won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me Raindrops keep falling on my head But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turning Red, crying's not for me, 'cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin' Because I'm free, nothing's worryin' me."
  11. Aloha & Hau'oli Makahiki Hou! Resolution? Whine less, exercise more.
  12. Sent an e-mail too. As for other ideas, since you are sending the coins to specific caches, see how far away the destination caches are from your home coordinates. Then "pair up" coins who have goals that are similar distances from you. Then have the pairs race each other to their respective goals. Can a coin travel 5000 miles to Hawaii faster than anther can get 5000 miles to Finland? Will a coin get to Florida before it's pair gets to Maine? (I'm just guessing on all mileage estimates, but you get the idea). If the coin coming towards me was racing one going in another direction, I'd watch them both. jrr
  13. Here is the link to the original thread A Thank You To the Military. Details are in the first post, not sure if the shipper has any left or not. jrr
  14. If you are having a raffle: Instead of just giving folks numbers, hide a temporary cache with numbered poker chips (or just numbers on paper). Have the coordinates at the sign in table. Annound that to have a chance at winning a prize you need to find the cache. This works well if there are new cachers who have never found a geocache. They get a bit of practice, and if they are having trouble someone will help them out. If you want to stay indoors, then just give hints as to the location of the cache. If you want to give away your prizes in a non-random fashion have a scavenger hunt. Hide a few (4-6) temporary caches each full of some small item. The last one we did had a Halloween theme, so there was a film canister full of bat erasers, a pill bottle with little spider rings, etc. Everyone gets the coordinates (or hints if they are inside) for the caches at the same time; the first one(s) back with an item from every cache wins. Have a fun event!
  15. Oh no...are you having mail forwarded???? I sure hope so, there might be some good coins in there. jrr
  16. Just one question, is this one auction for all coins? Or are you taking bids for each coin separately?
  17. Mahalo Santa's Caching Clauses (and those elves), your timing couldn't have been better, Christmas Eve. And living here, it seems silly to get a live tree. We do however have a little table top one, and the stocking is the perfect size! Mele Kalikimaka and Mahalo Nui Loa! We've found most of our mystery coins in caches, it is fun to get these envelopes with mystery (smudged) postmarks!
  18. Christmas Eve was a very good mail day for me, 3 padded envelopes and a box! 1) kuntry Kashin Coins, plus a cute little Santa Hat coin. 2) December Coin & pin club, plus lots of extras 3) A small square mailer addressed to me from me---inside the most adorable little stocking with a blue glitter top. 4) My long lost Secret Santa package.
  19. I have reason to believe that mission was sent to England....hope you left a forwarding address! I am happy to report that my Secret Santa package, did arrive today! Proving that good things come to those who wait! Thanks usyoopers! Got some human stuff and some kitty treats. Will post pix later. But the cats love the catnip mice! For coins I got: usyoopers Geotag Sauvignon Blanc GeoJellie love anything wine related around here! Fall Into Caching & Antique Copper Earth Turtle!!! (That completes my set, well except for an Artist Edition or two!) Merry Christmas everyone! jrr
  20. We have played a game we like to call: "Geocaching trivia: fact or Urban Legend?" In this game the organizer reads 15-20 geocaching/geocacher related statements and all the attendees answer "fact or legend" on their answer sheet. At the end (or even as you go) the answers are revealed. We let everyone score themselves and give prizes to the highest scores (anda joke prize to the lowest). Even if you don't know anything you have 50/50 chance of being correct, so it's fun to see who scores "less than chance." As for what sorts of things to ask, there's stuff like: As of December 31, 2007 there are 2113 active caches in Montana. Personal things work well too (and remember some will be made up). We give attendees the opportunity to submit a fact/legend of their own to be included. We also scan old logs (especially those from long time cachers/archived caches). All sorts of interesting tidbits there. You can see how we explained it on the cache page: here. It went over pretty well as you can see from the logs.
  21. I need a little help. The image below is from the original thread. Can anybody tell me what the PMS for the "Cricket" color below is? Or how to find out? And if you know, can you please answer in this thread. (I'm getting the scooters as a surprise for sillygirl (she doesn't read the forums unless I send her a link). Back when the idea got started I figured they might be a birthday present (October), now we'll have to see what holiday comes up. I'm looking for the chartreuse bright green not too much yellow color in the art below, but can't seem to find it on the chart Mike sent us. I have found the R,G,B numbers and its hex triplet....so if anyone knows how to translate those to PMS it would be helpful too. Thanks, jrr
  22. Congrats to the recent finders!! Glad to see the Creepiness continuing in a "Nightmare Before Xmas" sort of way.
  23. We've confirmed that the package was sent to the correct address..so I'm thinking it will get here eventually. It won't be late, it will just extend the holiday. I'm glad to know we were not forgotten and something is on the way. No matter if it comes or not, mahalo usyoopers for being my Secret Santa; it is really the thought that counts! jrr
  24. A really heavy box from Pennsylvania, aka the winnings of the Fox and the Hound's Thanksgiving cointest. Will post some pix in the contest thread tomorrow.
