  1. Mission received. : For whoever got me, I don't keep a seeking list, though there are a few of my most wanted coins at the end of our GC profile page.
  2. Around here we have The Deadliest Cache. It's a micro and not an ammo box, but I bought an extra coin to give to the cache owner as a present, I'm sure he'll be very amused! edit: spelling & grammar
  3. Our most frequently found cache, The Queen's Iki (312 finds in 2 years) is in a small often overlooked public garden. We enjoy reading logs like these: "What a nice little garden!! Been by here many times, but had never stopped." If you are lucky you can find more than flowers.
  4. Our moved to a very spiffy Travel Bug Hotel in Tennessee. The cacher who retrieved said its next stop would be California. Is there a prize for the first coin to make it to Sacramento?
  5. Aloha! We live on Oahu, you can't beat caching in paradise. For a few specific recommendations feel free to check out this bookmark it highlights our favorite unique caches on the island. Most are not in the typical tourist zone, but will take you to amazing places. Feel free to contact us through our profile (we don't get forum PMs) with terrain and hike length limitations (if any) and I will send you an e-mail with links to our other favorites that are more "on the beaten path." jrr BTW there's only 400+ caches on the island, sorting through them is nothing compared to when we plan a trip to the mainland and find 1000+ within 20 miles!
  6. A second Secret Agent coin? That would be amazing. Agent 137 has been feeling a bit lonely sandwiched between 2 Geocoin Fairies... The CreepyCrawlyCachers invited him out, but he says he can't trust them...
  7. Very cool! Was just wondering about this one yesterday, can't wait for details.
  8. Ditto. Glad I'm not the only one who is missing this feature. As for the concern over caches that get archived due to their "sensitive" nature, if they can't be retracted (i.e.., they were found) then the coordinates can easily be changed to bogus ones and the description modified to remove any specifics. As others have noted this is a very small percentage of caches, here it has only happened once in the 2.5 years. jrr
  9. First Many Congratulations! Sex of baby (we don't know yet) : girl Date of Birth: 11/19 Time of Birth: 2:06 a.m. Weight: 7lbs 14 oz Length (will be used for a tie breaker): 19.5 Second, to tadpole379 I know my guess is really close to yours but those my own stats (from many years ago!)
  10. Like RR said, I personally would contact the originator before selling. If that person said, s/he still expected me to abide by the no sell agreement, I wouldn't sell the coin, though my opinion of the originator might change in a hurry. (Depending on why s/he was now selling trade only coins). (Sometime I think half the angst around here is really just a failure to communicate.)
  11. You are correct. I guess I am referring to unactivated, non-trackable, or adopted coins where there is no ambiguity about possession and ownership. On this issue of ownership, I have a a car analogy. From the beginning this thread reminded me of something I witnessed many years ago at the city of St. Louis, MO impound lot . I was there with a friend. His car had been towed and we had come to retrieve it. On that morning there was only one guy working behind the plexiglass in the little trailer. As a result, we got to hear many sad stories before he could pay his fine and drive his car out of the lot. Just in front of us was a young woman who wanted to pick up a car that had been towed there after a fender bender. This was not her first attempt to retrieve her car. The problem? Seems she was not the "registered owner" of the auto. According to the city & state her father was the rightful owner of the car. Second problem? Her father was deceased, and had been so for some time. Despite the fact that the woman had an insurance policy for the car and had paid the most recent registration (she had brought receipts on this trip) and was driving the car at the time of the accident, the guy in the coveralls wouldn't budge. Ownership had never been properly transferred; the car wasn't hers and she couldn't have it back. She left without "her" car. When it comes to geocoins. I consider those that are trackable and activated, to be "registered" to the owner listed on the tracking page, period. I believe that to be the case weather the coin is in a cache, is traveling or is sitting in the binder of another cacher. For me there is little difference between "activated" and "registered." In fact I've seen ebay listing for geocoins that specifically say "unregistered." That's just my opinion (and we all know what they say about opinions). jrr
  12. So there's one opinion - how do others feel? (I realize that many are offline right now) I disagree. IMO, the "strings" associated with the original transaction actually become part of the geocoin. This is how conditions work with other types property. For example, when we acquired our current home it came with "encroachment agreements." For a variety of reasons, part of our neighbor's retaining wall was actally on our property; the previous owners & neighbors had written a mutually acceptable agreement allowing this. When we bought the property, we had to agree to abide by the previous owner's commitment. This would have been the case weather we bought it, inherited it, or won it on a bet; we would not have been allowed to own the house without also agreeing to the previous owner's "strings." In addition, saying future owners don't have to abide by the conditions, just seem to me a big loophole for someone wanting an easy way out. Anyone wishing to sell a coin they agreed not to sell, could simply trade/gift the coin to a relative/friend and have that person sell coin as a way to circumvent his/her original agreement. Now I realize that the value of a geocoin is nothing compared with a house, but it just helps me to think about analogous situations and how they might be handled. jrr
