  1. Exactly, it is a hunt after all. Prosposed new guidleine for GSP caches: Cache owner must stand at GZ and hand whiney finder cache....................with a smile
  2. Definate Beefy, paperless is the way to go! I bought myself a PDA a couple of years ago, and as soon as my wife saw it in action, guess what she wanted for her birthday........ Sorry, I'm off topic again!
  3. Simple minds are easily amused, and Munkeh's pictures had me rotfl......brilliant!!!
  4. Yeah, I need to get out a check my caches, but with all the snow in my area, it'll be a while before I can! Mind! Carry a spare cache or two, help a fellow cacher.
  5. GSP, Could I please have an answer to the questions I have asked on this thread???
  6. I've had note back from a reviewer asking me to consider a rating of 1.5 if the wheelchair user is unable to access the cache themselves on a submited cache. After considering the request, I raised the rating to 1.5. I think it's a good way for wheelchair users to filter out other caches that they can't easily get to, thus saving them the disappointment of arriving at the GZ with three steps between them and the cache.
  7. You're quite right to bring this subject back up again, as new cachers like yourself can't always see the answers they are looking for in a mountain of threads. Don't be put off by others opinions, they are after all, just opinions. I would hate to think that new cachers felt intimidated by the responses given to perfectly reasonable questions. Happy cach'in
  8. I must admit, when I placed my first caches I put them in plastic bags thinking that it would afford them extra protection. It wasn't until a certain Scottish haggis fella pointed out the down side to this, that I went back and found the bags with holes in them, slugs crawling about inside, and a smell that didn't agree with me. The bags were quickly removed and the caches have been fine since then (nearly 4 years). I think cache placement is another thing to consider in respect of how your cache will hold up thoughout the year.
  9. I think you can see where this is going undermanager, lift the bags and set those caches free
  10. You are correct, thanks for pointing that out.
  11. Well done to those who helped reunited the booklet with it's owner
  12. Thanks for your reply. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to the idea of "giving a gift membership", In fact I think it's a great idea that can be used by caching buddies/family/friends in order for gc.com members who use pm features that they enjoy. The only problem with the "give a gift membership" is that it allows anyone the change the status of any members account without their consent. Myself, I'm happy with my basic account, and don't use or need the features of a pm account, and as it's my account I have the right for it to remain that way. All I'm asking for, is for the automatic upgrade option to be removed. The rest of it is a great idea that I'm sure wil be enjoyed by many members. I've noticed that GSP have answered others questions, and would be grateful if they would answer mine? (even though I'm a basic member )
  13. Many moons ago, I misplaced a geocachers USA geocoin. I hunted high and low for this coin, wondering where on earth I'd put it. After exhausting all the possible places I could have put it I gave up the search, and in an effort to do the right thing bought the cacher an identical coin, sent them the tracking number and released it for them. Several weeks later I was tending to a cache I had disabled a few months earlier, and what did I find in the final container? Not remebering that you put a coin in your own cache......................now there's a worry!
  14. I've asked this question on the other thread. I would hope the answer was yes, as I'd not be happy with anyone changing the status of my account without my consent.
  15. I have two questions for Groundspeak? 1, If a member upgrades my account without my consent, do I have the right to refuse the upgrade and have my account returned to it's original status? 2, If the answer to question 1 is yes, will the member who upgraded my account be given a full refund?
  16. I spotted this last night while browsing through member profiles, and thought the member was having a laugh by adding it themselves. See! GSP does have a sense of humour
  17. I got one of these a while ago, and left it in the car. It did notlike it I am not certain how or why but it started leaking ink... They are good just keep an eye on it... Thanks, GerritS. I keep mine in a sealable bag just in case this happens, I'll be sure to mention this before handing the ALDI one over to arock&ahardplace. If the stamp was to leak in her cache bag, I can see myself walking around with "This cache has be found by arock&ahardplace, TFTC." stamped on my forehead.
  18. I was looking for one of these a couple of months ago, and ended up spending £20 getting one custom made (looks good). arock&ahardplace seemed keen on a stamp too, so I might nip out to Adli tomorrow and see if they've got any left. Thanks for the link.
  19. Please tell us more Paul, I wouldn't happen to be anything to do with people under 16 that require stuff......eh?
  20. Well, that was a well thought out heart-felt post I think, which I'm sure will be welcomed by most forum members. IMO, that form of communication will only help the UK forum (and community), so long may it continue. Thanks for taking the time to share your views.
  21. Oh yeah, you had to go and bring up Culloden didn't you??? No one told me anything about 1746! I thought I was meeting you outside The National Art Gallery at 1745? Must be a coded message or something
