  1. What about going back to a cache you know you logged and see how your caching name was displayed?
  2. Sorry. I put bubbles in the first cache I hid. When I went back nine years later (hiding more caches in the area), I removed the bubbles because people say bubbles should not be in caches. No problem. The bubbles were still well sealed. No need to be sorry. I just take them out when I find them. I did write to this new cacher and explained that anything liquid shouldn't be left in a cache. Being that they were new I am sure they didn't know even how to check for mail arriving to their account and if they did they ignored my plea. Since then I have found where they are still leaving bubbles. I understand we have all been new at one time or another. But me....I like to help the newbies.
  3. I have not been able to get into the site to be able to download that file. The site tells me that a email confirmation has been sent but nothing has shown up. Is there a way to send me the file directly through the message system here? I appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thanks so much.
  4. OMG yes! Thank you! Thank you! I went to the site but I am not able to download it even after I register. I added my email and answered the captcha but nothing is showing up in my email. I'll give it some time and maybe it will show up. Thank you again for the help.
  5. Recently I have found where one new cacher in particular is putting bottles of bubbles in caches as swag. I have found a few damp caches since they did this. I think for all new cachers some type of test should be implemented before they can log or even hide a cache. This way they learn the basics and are tested on what to do and not to do. Who's ready to write a 100 question test?
  6. I recently got back into caching after having both knees replaced and let me tell you I have missed this sport so much! I got my swag bag and all my things neatly packed in a hip bag and I am hitting the trails every chance I get. In the process of getting all my caching things organized, I came acrossed the Pocket Decoder from The Caching Place. I would like to set up a cache that requires the use of this decoder. I remember that they had a printable version. I am wondering if anyone has access to this that could send me a copy? I use to go to the caching place all the time to play the games they had there where you had to use the pocket decoder. Such fun. I was sorry to discover that they are no longer around.
  7. Thank you for the fast reply and the help! I appreciate it more then you know
  8. Hello everyone, I have not been able to cache in several years due to medical problems and the last few days my daughter and I have been back out.....finally! I have missed caching so much. Anyway, I decided to do some cache maintenance and have replaced most of my log books and will be adding new swag in the next few weeks to the caches that need it. My problem is that today I went to check on my one and only multi cache. The last log said it was damp and they couldn't read the coordinates to the 2nd stage. I have a book I carry with me and thought it would be no problem because I have everything wrote down in there EXCEPT the cords to my second stage. I went out where I thought this 3 gal pail was at and I have not been able to find it at all. I went into my account and I can't find anywhere that I put the second stage cords in. Is there anything else I can do to find these 2nd stage cords? Thanks for any help you can give me. I feel almost like I am starting all over again.
  9. Thanks for all the replies. I wanted to be sympathetic to what he is going through but wasn't sure how much time I should give him. Thanks again.
  10. Yes it is a tough one. From what I have gathered his wife died sometime the first part of November and believe me I do feel bad for him. He was married for 37 years and when I heard this I replied with how sorry I was and left it at that. Now it is the end of January and still no news from him. He has updated his webpage several times and has new products from what I can see but I have not seen where he is producing the coins. At least he isn't producing my design. I don't know what the other winners coins looked like so I don't know if he is producing them or not. After the winners of the contest were announced he posted on the website that the winning designed would be posted on the site for everyone to see and that didn't happen either. I am just at a loss. I feel bad his wife died and don't want to pressure him. But at the same time I don't think it is right that he runs a contest and then doesn't award the prizes. Thanks for your reply. I agree...It's a tough one. Gemmy
  11. The new cointest ends of course in dec. 31 2012, so that's the only thing I want to change. The price will be a Circle of Four geocoin (blue on rhodium) or if you want to and if they are here at that time a Team Yanagi XLE twotone. PLEASE participate as much as you did last year!!!!!! Let's do some good!!!
  12. Back on 10-12-12 I was notified that I won a contest for designing and submitting a design for a geocoin. There were 3 winners. Two adults and one child. The website said for several days that the photos of the winning designs would be displayed soon. That never happened. The email saying I had won requested my address and my choice of the prize I wanted. I replied to that email with the requested information from me. Weeks went by and no prize ever showed up in the mail. So I contacted the place on 11-21-12 and asked when I could expect the prize and to also make sure they had received my email with the information they requested. I got a reply right back from the owner saying that his wife had died and that "The prizes will be mailed by the end of the weekend." I still have not received the prize and my last email message went unanswered. SO my question is what would you do? Should I just forget it and let them post contests and then not award the prizes or do something else what ever that something else could be? The thing that bothers me is that a child won the contest and I know how kids are. I can't imagine the disappointment a child would feel to find out their geocoin design had won and then not to receive the prize. So what would you do?
  13. I found a place where you can design your own. For anyone that is interested.... www.signsbyyou.com Gemmy
  14. I am trying to find a license plate for the front of my jeep that says something to the effect..."I would rather be caching" or anything to do with geocaching. All I can find is a license plate frame for the back plate and thats not what I want. Does anyone know where I can get this kind of license plate? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Gemmy
  15. Thanks for understanding. I know things come up but I just received notice today that the guy that took this TB finally logged his find. I wonder if he knows the libraries have internet???? Sure hope I can still find a Jeep TB. Gemmy
  16. I think that people that take JTB or any TB for that matter and don't log them are just rude and inconsiderate of other cachers. I went out today with the goal of finding a YJTB. It was a 2 mile walk to the cache and in the heat it was awful. Still I was determined to get the TB. When I got there I noticed the TB was gone and the log book had been signed on July 2nd stating they had taken the YJTB. I couldn't read the log or they would be hearing from me. When I find a TB i always write to the owner if I can't place it right away. But 2 weeks to log you found it and took it is just totally inconsiderate. Ok...nuff griping. Gemmy in MI
