  1. Their is soooo many ways to do what you want to. The best answer is to go to gsak.net and you will get lots more answers. What I do is have a DB in GSAK for my finds and one for my owned caches. When I find cache I edit it in GSAK and check found. Then move it to my finds DB. But you can also use the filter page to weed the ones you own and have found out of your view. Then you can save that filter and call it up when ever. I hope this helps. kf4oox - Paul
  2. Walkworthy, As you know we have very good reviewers here. We have Keystone, Oreviewer, & Skeetsurfer. (I hope I have them right) They do a good job and get it the new ones done and out. Sometimes life does come and they don't have the time they normally do. But they do say up to 72 hours till first seen by a reviewer. Questions adds time. So just be patient and they will get back to you. I have 3 caches out my self and 1 was published in an hour and one took a couple of days. (the reviewer had a couple of questions about it.) So just be patient and so will I. Maybe I will get the FTF on this one. kf4oox - Paul
  3. You can find a cheap Palm on the internet. Do not buy a expensive one as out on a cache run you can destroy it. (Yes I had a Palm Z22 that I fell on and destroyed it.) I then got a deal on a PDA with windows mobile and I really do not like it. It has lots of memory issues. My 2nd PDA has more memory then the Z22 but yet I can not load the files like I could with the Z22. So go with a Palm. You can find them cheap on the internet. For the program I agree with using Cachemate. Used that on the Z22. I really enjoyed it. I hope this help. kf4oox - Paul
  4. Yes a very nice coin you have their Delorme. If want to send me one and I would drop it in Western PA. Or stop by here and put it in one of my caches. Thanks Would just love to move one of these along. I also like your PN-20 & PN-40 GPSr. May be thinking about one or the other soon. Thanks kf4oox - Paul
  5. Very nice looking coin. Would love to have one. Thanks kf4oox - Paul

  8. Hey I have both of these also. I got the orange one for use in the hunting areas while caching. kf4oox - Paul
  9. Can not get the web page to come up.
  10. Looking very nice. Can not wait till I can get one. Thanks kf4oox - Paul
  11. That is a very cool bike. I would add you would have to check with local authorities to where it fits into the legal scheme of things. But very nice and with gas prices high and climbing this would be very nice. I will have to look into this. I have a mountain bike that it would like nice on as well. Thanks kf4oox - Paul
  12. Why not here in Sharon, Pa we have something better than airports and hotel rooms. We have the only Free Golf Course in the world Now top that kf4oox - Paul
  13. Well it did not have me laughing but it did strike me funny. I think it would be a good one. I also like your idea for the back. Hopes this helps. kf4oox - Paul
  14. I think every one uses the PQ differently. I have 2 PQ that are run multiple times a week. One for the nearest 500 un-found caches. The other one is for the AGT caches. When I go out for a cache run I then get a PQ a couple of times in the week before I go. I do have a few PQ made up that I have on standby. For areas I go to frequently. I also have a PQ for my caches I have put out. I hope this helps kf4oox - Paul
  15. As I only have a couple of trades, I don't think I will get much for them. I will try to buy. But with my job situation I don't have that much money so it will be just a few. (I have more fingers on my one hand than what I will be able to buy) So I will be mostly looking and talking. Thanks kf4oox - Paul
  16. To me any hide that is on or in a Hydrant or on, near or in a BLDG's FD connection is unacceptable. If I find one like this I will put an SBA on it. These locations can result in damage to FD equipment (a basic pumper cost $200,000), putting an FD pump out of service till repaired. Result in loss of water and endangerment of FD lives. Loss of life and property. I have heard of some hides like this. I have not come across a hide like this. If I do I will put an SBA on it and email the owner and reviewer about this. Otherwise even though I do not like the electrical hides (trust me 480 V AC was bad enough, 18000 V AC is MUCH worse) they still meet the standards. I think most people do know not to open a transformer case. Also most people are smart enough to see the fake over the real. (At least I hope so) I hope this helps kf4oox - Paul
  17. Their has been a few good replies to your question here. You are going to have to take it slow with her. Why not your having to go to an urban area cache their as part of your other plans. (with her) let her see the urban ones that you do not have to go to the woods. Get her involved in helping to keep you safe. With buying cloths and DEET (or other type product you want to use). Have her check you over. As the song says do a tick check. Talk easy with her do not push. You should know her and how to gently talk to her about this subject with out getting her upset. Talk about the good stuff of caching. Family friendly, getting out of the house and loosing weight. It is going to take her time (if ever) to get comfortable with you going out caching in the woods. I hope this helps kf4oox - Paul
  18. I have a TomTom One V3 and I like it allot. I use it to get me to parking and then use my Garmin Vista C to get the cache. (Well I hope so anyhow). My Vista C is capable of generating a route but it takes along time to generate the route and to re-route if I have to. The TomTom does it in a few seconds. On Sunday I was in Pittsburgh Pa and it took the TomTom 5 secs to generate that route of about 80 road miles. ! hr 47 Min travel time. They do NOT generate the best route but they do generate a route that will get you their. When I was at the event I went to I asked the local people how to get out the easiest to I-79 or one of the sub I-79 routes. They directed me a nice way to I-79 and not having to go on some very traffic heavy roads. A route that TomTom did not come up with. The Mio's can be opened up to be a Pocket PC. So their is even more programs available for them as a pocket PC. I hope this helps kf4oox - Paul
  19. Yes the parks are owned by the Government (Fed, State or Local). They are their for many reasons. It is the job of the manager of that park to ensore that fair use is done with in their guidelines. Some parks are more for keeping nature healthy others are more for our fun. I think they have a very tough job to do, on one hand people are telling them they have to stop the use and let nature have her way, on the other hand people are saying their is not enough people friendly use. GeoCaching is just a very small part of the big picture. Many areas have different rules on Geocaching. In one S.P. near me they have some rules. A permit system is in place for putting Geocaches. You get a form and fill it out and submit it. It is reviewed by a naturalist and park management. Also the cache has to be removed at the end of 3 years. Recently a person has placed caches in the S.P. before the permit came through. Their are some caches still their after 3 years. This type of behavior will cause us problems in the future. Most permit systems I have heard of is more to let the manager know that their is something their and to help them balance the parks usage. This way when a muggle comes across it and dial 911 they know that it is most likely a harmless geocache and not something that will harm lots of people. If placing in a park then you should ask permission of the manager for that park. If you place without getting permission and Emergency Services have to show up and close the park and check you "device" out then you will be talking to some other people. In lots of places you will receive a bill for services rendered. Different places have different rules and regulations. Some do a permit system, some do not care, some have a ton of regulations for geocaching. Just depends on the people involved. The systems that have good relations with geocachers seem to have the better regulations for our sport. The ones that have had problems with geocachers seem to have the heaver regulations (or no contact). Why not contact the manager and open a dialog with them. It might prove fruitful in getting the regulations opened up and more friendly. I hope this helps kf4oox - Paul
  20. I am using a Garmin Etraxx Vista C. I mark them as found then when I get back to my computer I download the tracks and waypoints into Mapsource and then delete them off of the GPSr. Hope this helps kf4oox - Paul
  21. I would like to bring trade items but I do not have any to trade and right now I have very low cash flow so I most likely will not have a trade item. But if anyone wants to give some away I will be more than happy to take some. Thanks kf4oox - Paul
  22. I like the coin art. Based on that I would buy at least one set. I like the state coins. Maybe one day I will have all the state type coins. But this one does look real nice. Thanks kf4oox - Paul
  23. Those look very nice. I will be waiting for them to come out to add to my collection. Thanks kf4oox - Paul
  24. You are not the only one. I think I would like a few of them as well. kfoox - Paul
  25. With the current prices for the unit I am looking at getting one. How it this unit to use? Is it easy to see in bright daylight? How big are the maps? How much of the Tropo maps could a 2 GB card hold? I have a TomTom so I do not need Auto routing. Thanks kf4oox - Paul
