  1. Yeah, yet another example of "creative" finds (and my "creative" I mean "padding one's stats to inflate their ego"). However, I will gladly retract my statement if hans415 posts an explanation of how he can find a nearly 4 caches a minute for 24 straight hours.
  2. I don't think there is a list of these on any website.
  3. As a recreational therapist, I have cached with people with disabilities both for clinical therapy as well as recreational fun. I am so happy to see the comments in this thread! I believe nearly anyone can participate in Geocaching with a bit of creativity. Happy trails!
  4. One of our regional Geocaching groups does have an annual vote for "Best Cache" in several categories (including best log which is usually quite entertaining!) Don't see any reason to make yet another "thing" on Geocaching dot com. I agree with L0ne.R about using project-gc to check out all sorts of fun stats about favorite caches.
  5. I'm looking forward to the day Elon Musk places the first MarsCache
  6. Agree. Log it the date you went to GZ and completed the learning questions. Unless you are doing a Mooncache which require travel time back to Earth and, thus, may be logged on the date you return to Earth.
  7. Whoa! You are out there a bit huh? Had to Google that town to figure that out. Regarding events, I would say that there might be more events when the warmer weather returns. At least that has been my observation in other areas. You could come down for Geowoodstock in Cincinnati for North America's first Giga Event!
  8. For me, it's all about hiding a cache that the area accommodates. I even have a "large" container hidden called "Don't Hide Micros in the Woods", lol. It's not that this applies 100% of the time as I have found (and hid) some pretty clever, fun, or otherwise amazing micros in the woods. But a lot of the time, micros among the wooded areas seem like they are given little thought. A pill bottle tossed into the nook of a tree, or thrown down next to some honeysuckle. I think it's fun to hide the largest container possible in the woods because sometimes it's the only place to adequately hide a larger container where it won't be as easily stumbled upon by a muggle.
  9. Thanks everyone. I do the "look at the map" thing too but just wondered if there was any sort of list. Basically, I am asking because this is going to be a busy year for me...getting married, buying a new house, moving....so my caching will be more limited. I would like to get 1000 or more caches this year as I have every year since I started caching, but I was looking for a way to get a bunch late in the year if necessary.
  10. After playing around on Google for a bit, I was surprised that I couldn't find a list of power trails listed by state. Anyone have any resources for doing this? Disclaimer - I'm not inclined to debate what constitutes a power trail so let's just define it as a series of easy-to-find caches (D<2) along a road (T<2) accessible by car which has at least 50 caches in the series.
  11. Another problem is cache owners must not only understand what an attribute means, they first must understand that they should actually consider each and select them. Many seem to bypass this, only selecting one attribute (perhaps in a time-saving effort?)
  12. I am stuck on 49 states plus DC. Drove to every one of them including Alaska. Still trying to figure out how I can drive to Hawaii.
  13. This thread reminded me to order a lanyard, lol! Just got one online for $1.79. And yes, I use it frequently while hiking.
  14. I love my reviewers and have never had any issues with any of them. Sure, I have had variability with regard to time to publish, but nothing unreasonable. That is likely a reflection of the fact that they all have lives outside of being a reviewer. Keystone was my first reviewer and he set me straight on some of the guidelines and etiquette. My current reviewers are very nice and have even brought their dog by to see me and my dog while finding my cache in front of my house.
  15. Just curious, how exactly would you use a drone to either place or log a cache?
  16. You should be able to re-log the find. Not edit the old one, a completely new log.
  17. The map shows the stops the trackable has made but the individual stops it has made are listed below (as well as the distance between each stop)
  18. Ah yes, Germany.... You would think with the recent changes to the logging system (e.g., not allowing a second "Found It" log even by accident) that they would have made it impossible to predate a hide. Maybe that will be forthcoming.
  19. Boy, considering the chronic condition of that cache, it would have to be one hell of a location for me to call it anything but trash! NA!
  20. The day my wife and I paddled out to an island to get a particular cache that completed my Fizzy grid, was my 7000th find, and her 1000th find. While she was out visiting her sister, I had bought a blowup kayak just so we could do this one. She was amazed because I am no fan of water, lol. She passed away on August 7, 2014 so this has more meaning than ever.
  21. I forgot about this thread/post. Happy to report that I completed all three of my goals (but Hawaii will have to wait) In fact, I completed all the Ohio counties! Anyone else meet their goals?
  22. One of the things we had to do to make the jump from Mega to Giga was have 3000 "Will Attend" logs. I am excited to have the opportunity to be a small part of this (serving on a small committee) but I also see the potential for complete chaos due to the size of the event at this point. Time will tell....
  23. TFTP (Thanks for the post. I'd write more but that might appear "mindless")
