  3. I bet I can log just about any find that I want and not actually visit the cache (including traditional caches). How many of you actually visit your caches and compare the physical cache log to its online cache log? Its not the type of cache we should be worry about its the honesty of cache finder we should be wary of. On another topic. Some developers will put your photos on CD for only a little extra and a few online photo printers will develope and email your pictures to you (if you want prints thats extra . ) - Lone Rangers

  7. Let the folks that own the cache know that the info can be found by a simple internet search. I have a virtual cache and I did a search for the info enscribed on the cache and came up with nothing. But the approver told me of how he was able to find the answer by searching. So I changed what was needed to clame the cache, now everything is fine. BTW: The take picture idea is great however you get people who have reservations for buying hundereds of dollars of GPS equipment but are too cheap to buy a camera. - Lone Rangers
  8. Just curious. How much training do you get in RFI and RF devices? I was told on a flight that I couldn't use my GPS but my Handspring (Palm) was okay. On the same flight a guy in the seat in front of me was asked to turn off his mini disc player. The reason was because it had a laser in it. Did this mean if he had a tape player he could use that? P.S. Always ask. Sometimes the airlines policy isn't the captains policy. - Lone Rangers

These are permanent, waterproof paints that write just like a ballpoint pen and come in many colors. I've used them successfully in outdoor environments, and they can be found in many art supply stores. Not to sure because I dont own one. However, pocket pcs use Windows CE right? I would think that you should have a pocket version of IE available. You just need to get the webpage to your pocket pc so you can veiw it offline. Thats what programs like plucker and Isilo do for the palm os computers. They take the html and convert it to a format that can viewed on the palm os computers. - Lone Rangers

  17. If the extreme heat during the summer doesn't bubble the tupperware then the brush fires will certainly melt the tupperware. Can't find any ammo cans here in Italy and I don't want to ship any in. They might be illegal. There are a lot more restrictions on guns and ammo here than there is in the US. The first cache I found used a Danish Butter Cookies tin container. I just hid my first traditional cache and used a Danish Butter Cookies tin. They seen to survive the Sicilian summers very well and can survive the heavy rains (stay water tight) during the winter. - Lone Rangers
  18. quote:Originally posted by VentureForth: It would definitely cost Jeremy an AvantGo premium to offer this service. The Standard List Prices (annually) are as follows: 0-8 Users: Free 9-99 Users: $1000 100-499 Users: $2000 500-1000 Users: $8000 1000+ Contact sales That's a big spike from 499 to 500 users. But, frankly, I don't know that there would be more than 499 users. Perhaps. If he had 500 charter members, that would bring in $13000. That'd leave him $5K for bandwidth & server space. But seriously, I don't see the problem with 'outsourcing' the data. And, yes, Jeremy's conspicuous absence from this topic does raise eyebrows and speculations. I hope he's working on it and wants to suprise everyone. Any other reason I don't want to even consider. Go! And don't be afraid to get a little wet! Why is everyone so crazy about AvantGo? Just make the site Palm friendly to allow us to use whatever program/service we want to use to get the pages on to our Palm. - Lone Rangers

    Book tracking!

I found two book sitting on my book shelf that I havn't read in years but I just can't throw away. I entered then at BookCrossing and left them in an airport near where I live. I hope they are getting read, and do not end up in the landfill or blown-up by the bomb squad. I guess I'll know soon. - Lone Rangers

Adventurous BookCrossers release their books "into the wild" on airplanes, trains, park benches, bus terminals... These similar sites track money instead of books... Kudos to both Brian and Jeremy. spidertea Or work on something to make Brian's service not needed. You should be able to use style sheets to make palm friendly pages. I've never had the need to do this on my webpages but www.w3c.org has some info on doing this. - Lone Rangers
