  1. Have you noticed that over the past few years the GPS technology HAS taken giant leaps and bounds? DO you ever wonder how the technology is driving the sport of Geocaching? Where do you see the sport of Geocaching in 10 years from now… I see the sport of Geocaching eventually transform in order to follow the radiply increasing GPSr technology. I see the Cache Container fading off, It’s swag, and Logs gone. The extinct container replaced with a magnetic data storage device, similar to a credit card. Maybe has a small pocket for a TB Which is Also equipped with a Magnetic strip… The Geocacher would only have to SWIPE the GPSr in proximity of the Cache, where all the information would be recorded. Pre-formatted log entries would reside in the GPSr with the Cachers ID information… That is probably where the game will be in ten years
  2. I'm wondering WHY is it that Groundspeak does not allow More than 500 caches per PQ. I'm confident that the Servers have been updated over the years and could probably handle the work load. As the Geocaches in each province increases, the need to have larger PQs increases proportionally. Shouldn’t Groundspeak augment the number of geocaches allowable in each PQ to reflect the past growth? This is a service offered to their customers and should be reviewed at least once a year. Questions Comments
  3. Good Point However I manage all my Waypoint through GSAK thus I am creating my own data base...

  8. Thanks Hermit... I guess the issue we are having is that the reviewers are following the guidelines, they explained to us that having the local sponsor's LOGO on the cache listing goes against the guidelines AND WE FULLY SUPPORT THAT. Thus, we wish to propose a suitable and workable change to the guidelines which serve all. The reviewers would not have to arbitrarily have to dissect the event cache listing based on sponsorship, thus maximizing their time on the review processes. As stated in the guidelines. "Groundspeak administrators and reviewers are always interested in new ideas" and we think our future proposition is a great idea which will move the sport forward while keeping its integrity and mission. So in all... As i previously said, I cant seem to find EXACTLY where it says that you can not have sponsor listed on an event page so I can understand the LEGALEESE... Thanks you all
  9. I had read that. I must be honest and admit I'm not much for LEGALEESE, and could not interpret in that guideline that I am NOT allowed to post a sponsor who will help, through donations of prizes, for a geocaching event which will undoubtedly attract new geocachers to the sport, thus resulting in revenue to Groundspeak... Thank Motorcycle Mama, greatly appreciated
  10. I'ml ooking for the specifics about including a sponsor on my cache listing for an event... Apparently this is not allowed and I've been looking for it in the guidelines. I must have read over it and could someone please help me find it. No GPS needed
  11. One of my favorite trail food staple...banook Bread 1 cup of flour 1 teaspoon of baking powder 1/4 teaspoon of salt Cooking instructions: Combine ingredients in freezer bag prior departure... on site, add enough water to make firm dough kneed in freezer bag, once all ingrediants mixed well, remove from freezer bag and form into cake about 1 inch thick, fry in a well greased pan over medium heat, cook until golden brown.

  13. You bring up a great subject... everytime I go wilderness camping I will make a fire. For me the fire is a source of heat and security. Mind you the fires i tend to make are quite small and operate with a reflector wall. I tend to start them by various methods to make the experience enjoying. Friction and bow, Magnesium Block, and once with my glasses. As for the environment, I agree that burning wood puts CO2 in the air, but I wonder what the impact of a small camp fire does compared to a gaz lawnmower, Vespa motorcycle, SMART car...etc
