  1. Yes, please keep us posted on this! If you get them up, I'd like to bookmark them.
  2. I'd say it's valid. Certainly frustrating, without a doubt, but still valid. I think only the finders can answer that. I might enjoy this cache very much. Some people won't.
  3. Just some helpful advice: You'll probably get better results with proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc... EDIT: Just noticed niraD's sig
  4. Why? Because you associate it with some activity? It offends you? If that's the case, I think your username should be "illegal" because eight people were killed by a bomb in Istanbul on August 20th. Some people might be offended by that... A number is a number and nothing more.
  5. Instead of worrying about forwarding, why don't you and your wife just set up that Gmail account on each of your smartphones?
  6. I'm very much in favor of this idea. In fact, I've made a very similar suggestion: Click-And-Drag on Map My idea was that you should be able to click and drag to draw a box on the map, so you could add numerous caches at once. There are some example pictures in that link. I think something like this would be more convenient than running a PQ, and especially clicking each individual cache!
  7. I'm going to be the guy that disagrees. A "special tool" is obviously required, since you can't solve this puzzle without it.
  8. I like this idea a lot. A guided geocaching tour would something I'd definitely be interested in when I visit other countries, especially if I'm there for only a short time.
  9. I would take the money and run. A nice house on the water with a garage full of exotic cars and a dozen motorcycles and a seaplane tied off on my dock? I'd never cache again.
  10. That looks really good! I don't know if I'd be able to trade up from that!
  11. I think a couple of reasons - we'd rather 'spread the love' - there are so many caches in the area, why devote all our attention to just 'one' when others have also gone to equal effort to place caches. It seems to us to be somewhat selfish to have so many caches devoted to yourself/team and to monopolize one area this way. We had already done the small number of caches that have been there for years continuing to earn their dues - now they're lost in amongst all the others - I know if I had one of the previous ones I would probably remove it now and be a little put out by it. At the end of the day - even though we cache in and trash out - we are in affect leaving non-biodegradable 'stuff' all over the place, also climbing up and down the banks of the trail will over time cause damage to the area and the plants. It was a nice bike ride where you could do 5 neat caches - now there's over 90! It just feels to excessive. How is it that those who like this type of thing wants are met where as others just have to tun the other way and 'ignore'. Maybe the rules for placement need looking at. 0.1m maybe to close - I'm not sure..... still thinking. These are just all thoughts out loud... Ok, I think I see what your saying. It's not so much that there's so many caches in a small area, it's that they're all placed by one cacher? So in your eyes they've taken away the opportunity for others to hide quality caches? I could see why you feel that way. Especially if, for example, it's something like a film canister stuffed in a tree when 100' further there could be a nice, big ammo can hidden near a scenic bluff. Or even a film canister near a scenic bluff.
  12. Why don't you go out on that trail but only find every fifth cache or so? Go back after a few days of caching and do the same thing again. Then go back another day and do it again. Repeat until you've gotten all the finds! Spread them out over a period of days, or even weeks, to break the monotony.
  13. PQs can work wonders once you figure them out! There's a great link floating around that explains them very well, but I don't have it on hand. Someone will post it here, I'm sure
  14. I'm not "after the numbers" but I'd have logged it as a find. If the CO wants to delete the log... Eh. Whatever...
  15. ...and 458 watchers! I don't want to derail the thread, but why would 458 people be watching an archived cache that has apparently been locked down to prevent any further logging? I'm just curious. Does anyone know or have any educated guesses? My guess is that many people just haven't "unwatched" it. I sometimes forget that I'm watching a cache until I get an email about it.
  16. That's a hell of a ride, brother. Glad you made it out alright!
  17. It never broke! So I don't know. Either it was a simple rumor or they're still keeping it quiet. Long story short, there was a guy out here who killed himself during his company's Christmas party. Up until now, people figured he was having money issues, etc... But a buddy of mine heard from a LEO that the real reason he did it was because they were starting to get close to him. But then, even the papers didn't come out and say "suicide" they said "found dead in his car." The police say suicide. But even my mother heard that rumor, from a guy who doesn't even live in the state anymore. So who knows what's really going on. I'll sit back with a bucket of popcorn and keep watching all the drama out here
  18. I'm allergic to dogs, but if I did have one, I'd name it Rover Cleveland. Or Deefer.
  19. I feel that way also. It seems like some people are too concentrated on trying to catch someone else in a slip-up or typo *Edited, ironically (ha!), for a typo...
  20. I'm planning on doing something VERY similar to this, but it involves a much taller, metal pipe. And more concrete!
  21. A big story is going to break on Monday regarding those Gilgo Beach murders. You heard it here first!
  22. I attached my birdhouse cache to a tree using giant hose clamps. I bought two of these U-clamps like this, with the flat metal pieces: I screwed them (the flat pieces, not the U-clamp... The U was discarded) into the back of the birdhouse vertically, one above the other. Then I took two giant hose clamps: And slid them underneath those flat metal bits before I tightened them down. Then I took the loose ends of the hose clamps, wrapped them around the tree (they were really BIG hose clamps!), and tightened them down. Very secure.
  23. Solution to your birdhouse problem: Go hang a birdhouse because you like birds. Then go back and say "Hey, this would be a great birdhouse in which to place a cache!" Back on topic: I agree that magnets would solve the problem. Hopefully.
