I launched a TB for my Daughter on Saturday, 12 March 2011. It traveled well in the beginning and then a cacher picked it up and has held on to it. It was picked up in July 2011. She still says she has it but will not release it even though I have offered to send a self addressed envelope. I realise I can do little to make her release it but can I get another similar TB and substitute the tracking numbers so my Daughter thinks it is still traveling? I am quite happy to start the mileage count again. If so how would I do it? Thanks

It's normal. I thought that my Dakota 20 was not as accurate as my old Etrex H. However when I tried to compare them they were just different! Neither was more accurate but they did give different readings if that makes any sense. The Dakota, even if it were an extra 15ft out which it isn't, would still be the better unit for Geocaching though. Combined with GSAK and a Premium Membership it gives as much information as I need as well as navigating me to the correct spot. My HTC Desire HD gives even clearer information, although not as accurate as a GPSr, and for most caches is more than adequate. I guess I just love Geocaching!!

But you just altered history. You DID find those caches before you adopted them, so I should think nobody expects you to remove those logs. We did and the caches are not showing on our cache count now so I will have to reinstate them and live with it I guess. Shame though as it is nice to look at all the caches in the area and see yours standing out! HISTORY is safe, just added the removed logs again (if that makes sense?) Can't alter history it seems without affecting other things!

HMMMM, not so silly a question then. Yes, the caches show as mine. I don't think its a 'found' issue as I own a cache I have never visited (YET). But I am going to try removing a 'found' from one of them and see what happens. UPDATE>>> Just remove the found logs from each of the adopted caches and they are now showing as 'stars' and it hasn't affected our cache found count. Not sure how but there you have it folks. I don't know if this is a silly question or even whether I should be bothered by it BUT I adopted 18 caches from another cache owner as he was moving out of the area. The descriptions etc are now all correct ie showing me as the owner, I can edit atc but only one of the adopted caches shows as a star on the map of the area. I cannot see anything different about this listing but it does show as 'our' cache o the new maps. Any ideas?? Thanks

Hi all, I have recently bought a Dakota 20 and I am very impressed so far. I do have a couple of issues with it and was wondering if anyone has come up with a better work round than mine (renaming all the caches). The problem starts with a cache name of say....Bristol Rovers supporters loop cache#1 .............. Bristol Rovers supporters loop cache#6 ect When the 6 caches are loaded and you search the GPSr for them you only get the first so many letters, so all the caches look the same. Renaming them makes it easier but at Easter I want to do 2 loops in Devon with many many caches (I forget how many but one has over 100) this is going to be a nightmare to rename tham all. Any ideas?? Many thanks Keith (hoping for cache # 100 this weekend!)

Yep, thats exactly what I did. I have tried to add a note and 'dropped off' but they still don't appear. I also tried deleting the previous entry and rewriting it. Mystery....Wheres Scooby Doo? Daddy EF

It was at two different caches. Cache...GC1PYR1 ...Trackable item TB3FTAW and Cache...GC1PYPP ...Trackable item TB2AKRA I hope I have done this correctly. I have recently dropped off 2 trackable items but they do not show in the log or in my log that I have dropped them off. Any ideas why? (AND I did 'drop them off' in the drop down box!)
