I'd love to help / beta with you. I currently have a GARMIN GPSV & GARMIN GPSMAP 60C I run a G4 QuickSilver with OSX 10.2.8 Can I help?

I own a GPSV & 60C, I recently ordered & received my CitySelect v7 upgrade (from v5). I have already gotten a code to put the Cityselect on my new 60c, which I did (v5). Now that I've received my v7 upgrade DVD, I have questions because I don't want to make a mistake that will take long to correct. I want to upgrade the CitySelect v5 to v7 on both units I own (GPS V and GPSMAP 60C), can I? If not & I have to choose, I'll chose the 60c of course. But both should be upgradeable right? However, I do not have a DVD drive on my computer & will have to enlist the aid of family [to use their computer which has a DVD drive]. I primarily operate on a MAC & use an older PC laptop for CitySelect, track & waypoint transfer/storage only. Yes, I intend to purchase a PC laptop someday, but Dad's 60c was the last present to myself so.... Now my questions are: Exactly what do I request (from Garmin)? - a unlock code for the update disk and another code to update the 60c? And which (if I need both) do I request 1st? Also, is there anything special I have to do with regard to using family's computer drive to utilize my update DVD (since I only have a CD drive on my system)? I know this is kind of complicated, but rather than "guess" at what & how I should do this, I thought it best to ask first. I've sent a similar question to garmin but thought I would be able to get a heads up as to what to expect here as well.... Thank you, in advance for your consideration and support in this matter.

very cool idea..... However, ya gotta be careful about the laser pointer & the possibility of it "pointing" other than where intended. I have seen laser pointers upset people to the point where they've called the police AND I seen people LAUGH at them... I guess this depends on where else it could be pointed and what else is within range of [lazer] it.... just my 2 cents worth of experience

For those still wondering or entering the thread mid-way:

Not sure how it would tell a flashlight beam from the sun? a beam will be directed (aimed) light - or it can be "covered" overhead?? A TUBE would defeat MY wind-enhanced idea

One idea would be a reflective device of some kind that is "moved" by even the slightest wind, so that it alternated between two different [reflective] colors - this would solve the: • only active when hit with a beam • indefinite source • no maint. required Whatcha think??

When he says the GPS V, I think he means the GPS V. Great deal for this unit. I owned two, still own one as a backup & loved it - Mine is the GPS V deluxe package w/ B/W screen - Used it for Car / cache navigation for almost three years without a hitch brfore upgrading - 4aa batt will run it for 40 hours but it does have a small memory (map wise). good luck

Please realize, although there are many factors involved in this particular thread (threads often stir up other issues/cans of worms in your language) - the main idea are the RULES, our interpretations of them. their limitations and how they affect (ultimately), what your interest is - TO HELP EACH OTHER. But along these lines, IN MY OPINION - we shouldn't help the greedy monopolizing BILL GATES of the world get a further stranglehold on us by promoting THEM here - there has to be a defined line clarified between the two.......... you can agree with this I'm sure. Also realize, you said you've saved $$$$ in forums like this ..... but what about the people who SELL used merchandise overpriced in the very same forums / arenas????
