  1. I'd love to go out BUT I'm off work with a bad back Covering one's tracks should prove interesting
  2. We will reccy the site during Sunday to ascertain which end to start from. The crew members have (or should have) each others numbers.
  3. Put Team Balders (2 members) down for the 28th please.
  4. Before "Cut Down Cache (GCHBD1 )" disappears, Team Balders would really like to find it. As it now requires "Specialised Equipment" can anybody help us achieve our wish? We are quickly approaching 600 caches and it would be great if this could be number 600. Can any one help? Kev Team Balders
  5. In the last couple of days, two new caches have sprung up locally (W. Birmingham) but were placed over a week previously. The result of this is that now the caches have been published, they are already a week old and therefore do not show up as NEW caches. There is no NEW logo on the listings and the PQs don't pick them up either. Is this done deliberately by either setter or moderator to stop the usual gang rushing out for the FTF? Or is it that caches now take a week to review and publish? (I shouldn't have thought so.) And... A Merry Christmas and I hope you all find what you're looking for in 2007.
  6. Lots of other people seem to be having get togethers (We're off to Cannock, this Saturday) but there seems very little for that band of very keen cachers in the Coventry / Nuneaton / East Birmingham area. Would there be enough interest to organise a get together. I've never organised such an event but would be willing to assist (or be assisted by) some other interested party. Perhaps we could hold it around 10pm in the middle of a field?
  7. Them glasses is brill ! I was at an amateur radio rally this past weekend and saw a pair of NVG, but for £100+ I didn't think that Mrs. Balders would have been too impressed. Oh well, I'll just keep re-charging the torches' double As for now.
  8. Kev of Team Balders is G7OZE and James is M3OZE. Got into Geocaching via SOTA.
  9. With the usual rush of activity once a new cache has been published, with everyone trying for the FTF, it would make sense for the cache to actually be in place - would it not?
  10. Just to add my tupence worth... I've met (whilst out Geocaching) ... Snerdbe Super Ted Wisewol (sort of in passing) Starz Bars Grizly Pair and Daddy Cool Also, my friend. Brian, at work and I were talking to one of our bosses at work when Brian start taking the P*** out of my geocaching when the gaffer says, "What's wrong with that, I go out with my son cacheing!". That shut him up.
  11. "I" started cacheing so called myself Balders after a nickname someone gave me at work (my family name is Baldry - so not much imagination there!). After a while the wife / son / daughter / kids friends / dog came along too, so just changed the name to TEAM Balders. Whoever goes out now, logs under the team name.
  12. My maps show the A75 running from Gretna to Dumfries and the A76 from there to Kilmarnock. Much more scenic than Glasgow?
  13. Towards the end of next month (October) Team Balders is heading North from Birmingham to the Isle of Arran. Basically, which caches are... i) Close to the M6, A74, A75, A76 and ii) Worth stopping for We don't want to be too delayed going up as we have a ferry to cache but may have a little more time on the way home.
  14. As a FTF goody, in a cache I set near a pub, I put in a voucher for drinks to the value of £5 at the aforementioned establishment. Amazingly, it's still there after 50 odd visits and 9 months. You can't even give beer away!
  15. One of our travels bugs, which was released last year, has been placed in "Fairlands murder Game - Hideout" cache where it has been languishing since February. This cache is the final part of a series; five other caches must first be found to provide the co-ordinates for this one. Would it be ethical for me to go and retrive my own TB (after solving the 5 clue caches) and move it on? Perhaps if I only moved it a mile or so? Discuss. Kev Team Balders
  16. Alan - Does this summit count for SOTA? Kev Team Balders G7OZE
  17. Just for the record - Today's TEAM BALDERS consisted of Kev (taking the picture), Sue & James. A very unusual cache. Thanks for the congratulations, especially SP - I'll have to give YOUR caches another try
  18. Perhaps if I RTFM.... However, the previous post was what I was looking for - Thanks
  19. No, I don't think so. I've checked the Instant Notification thing but it looks far too limited. If memory serves correctly, it's a stand along program I'm looking for.
  20. I read somewhere in this forum about a program that you can run all the time with a broadband connection (or dial-up if you've more money than sense) that alerts you to any new caches. Any ideas?
  21. A short stroll along the canal from Hemel Hempstead to Berkhampstead should reward you with a fair few caches.
  22. I have an Autoroute datebase (.axe file) and would like to use Mapsource for all my mapping on the PC. Is there a way to convert from one to the other? Kev Team Balders
