  1. Thanks for the response. I'm only asking because I'm trying to do this cache - ARRAN INDUSTRY - QUARRY. I am more than happy with Geocaching.com but as you can see, I need to find 2 caches that aren't listed here. I've managed to track down "Whiskey" on Navicache but "Coal" is proving more elusive! edited to correct the link Deceangi
  2. Apart from Geocaching.com, Navicache.com and Terracaching.com are there any other cache listing sites out there?
  3. Ding goes to Jerryo BASE stands for... Building Antenna Span and Earth Over to you.
  4. EARTH is correct Out of BUILDING, ANTENNA and STRUCTURE - Two are correct.
  5. Base jumping is jumping (with parachute) from any object permanently fixed to the ground e.g. a building or some other structure. Skyscrapers feature heavily but, when you think about it, it's the little buildings that are the toughest. Visualises base jumper splatting into ground then the parachute opens around him/her. Eckington was on the right lines. BASE is an acronym, but for what?
  6. Building, antenna, structure..............and...................can't for the life of me remember the "e" TWO correct!
  7. Thanks for that hollow victory - Googling is alright but not as good as the real thing A guess from Scanker for the last question mentioned base jumping. What is base in this context?
  8. OK, I'll allow a Google! I've googled - they can't touch you for it!!! In 1933, the aforementioned lady, committed suicide by jumping into a volcano. This started a craze and over 900 people, that year, repeated the act. (that's not 900 people doing it twice!).
  9. In this case, he would wear the yellow jersey. The runners up in the other categories would wear those shirts.
  10. Well I've been to TESCO and I don't remember that bit - maybe it was in the gardening department.
  11. Thanks all, I currently do not have a SatNav but recently I've been using my laptop, running Autoroute, connected to my Etrex Legend in the car - it's a long story! After this little experiment, I decided that a SatNav would be very useful getting to the cache areas then switch back to the Legend for the actual finding bit. I was hoping for a unit that I could use for both the road and off-road bits without having to duplicate a lot of the data inputing. I've decided to follow Pop Up Pirate's advice and have ordered a Mio 350. I already have an XDA for work (no GPS though) so I'm familiar with the platform. Today,I've downloaded a trial of BeeLine to see how it looks on the Pocket PC and I'm impressed. I'll probably use TomTom for the road navigation. If all else fails, I've still got my Legend and a book of maps!
  12. Probably a daft question, but as one of the few who hasn't got SatNav in the car and therefore a SatNav virgin I'd like to know if the unit for the car can be used out of the vehicle for tracking down caches? Basically can you input long and lat and get the unit to point you in the right direction? On a lighter note, could you get it to say things like "At the next oak tree, turn left" and "Your cache is in the ivy covered tree"?
  13. Unfortunately, Team Balders had to duck out of the St. Kilda trip this year but with lots of notice, we shall endeavor to attend this one - at least three of us!
  14. I can recommend the Oldham Way Series. It may involve moving the car a bit but there's a cache every few hundred metres and most are easily found and in scenic locations.
  15. Just read the answer to Simply Paul, so can I try - The Cutty Sark (or what's left of it)?
  16. Ooops, I appear to have posted this too many times. Let's ignore the others and run with this one?
