Whew... it works. I was also able to put some Mapsource maps on it too. It's a big step up from my Garmin GPSMap 76 Thanks again 3XCrown

So how long should it take the unit to update itself? It's been 30 mins now and still nothing "loading profiles...." The unit is my brothers so I felt it was time to update it. It was never updated before.

A larger screen would be nice too... but I guess that will just eat up you batteries faster

I heard that if you use rechargeable batteries it some how "locks it up" I just DL the latest version 4.0? and found the my accuracy is worse and the time it takes to catch some birds is much longer.

So it sounds like everybody is in agreement that an external antenna is a very good investment, particularly if you venture into a dense overstory forest type and that the difference in reception between the 3' and 9' is negligeble. Sounds like I have to shop around for one. Does anyone have any experience with it on a Garmin Map76

I consider it an "activity". If you play a sport or game you win, lose, or tie. Until you define those ends..... as it related to Geocaching then it is an activity.... or hobby... or "JUST PLAIN FUN"

Garmin Map76 with the cable and car plug thing. Mapsource and Topo maps. It works fine for me but took a little time (trial and error as I don't normally read directions ) In hindsight I really should have "read the book". What do you think it is worth now? (I purchased it from Cabelas)

Wow............. the knowledge here is overwhelming. I checked out their (Garmins) Topo at their web site.......... the first thing I noticed is that it really did not do a good job at showing bogs or small ponds. I will probably get it (TOPO) though. The city street maps you mentioned also sound quite desirable but at the moment (and I'm still learning) the current Mapsource I have, set at the highest detail setting, seem to fill the bill. What is the general consensus when it comes to this unit. What should I have to get the most out of it. I am really new to this and only recently figured out how to upload and download maps and tracks from to pc to the unit? Thank you Brian
