  1. My bad. This is the gist of the cache: -WR
  2. Are you lucky enough to have a cache like this showing up on your first page of nearest unfound caches? -WR
  3. About 550 caches within 31.6 miles. I still need to find two of those. I don't live in Nashville, so there is little lamity. -WR
  4. This can be handled by letting the person who spotted the cache first be the first to log it online. Of course, that (re-)rasies the ethical question of whether EVERYBODY should wait for the FTF to get their log online. -WR
  5. We started heading directly for the second stage of a multi and discovered this rock profile the cache owner did not know about: -WR
  6. Somebody beat you to it: Just Another Lame' Micro -WR
  7. I usually print out a MapQuest sheet, a topo, and one or two orthos. My only other navigation aid would be a compass. -WR
  8. Check out the last sentence of this article. -WR
  9. Thanks Runaround. I sent you the original, plus a pic of the egret at rest, and another of a takeoff. -WR
  10. I took this photo while doing a paddle cache today: Based on the sheer size of the birds taking off, I figured I had caught a great egret and a great blue heron. I have the original high-res photo if someone needs a closer look. I actually was just trying to get the egret, but the heron flew into the frame as I snapped the pic! Thanks, WaldenRun
  11. On a recent trip to PA, I was able to visit a few caches this "pair" had been to. Theor was only one physical log entry, yet they both logged the cache online. What is up with that? Yes, SBUX signed the logbook for CCCooper. -WR
  12. Come to New England! We were 80% cleared at the turn of the (last) century, but now the forest has reclaimed all but 20% of the land. Our cachers specialize in hiding normal sized caches in the woods. Multi's are rampant, with wonderful hikes available in most every town. Micro spew has spread close off to the south, but I have not seen an actual infection break out in CT, RI, MA, VT, NH, or ME. Yes, one of these days, four male cachers might get together and realize that if they all hide 50 film canisters while leaning out their car windows, they can each "find" the other 150, or 250, or even 750! (TN). Hey, America started here. We won't let the newbies compromise our standards. -WR
  13. My bug hotel is up to 626 logged visits. It has had 553 bugs pass through it. -WR
  14. "According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, about 8,000 people a year receive venomous bites in the United States, and only 9 to 15 victims die. In fact more people die from wasp and bee stings than from snake bites." Must be harder to shoot bees. -WR
  15. My understanding is that gc.com recently tightened up their throttling software. This has impacted several stats sites. Personally, I don't think it is the limited number of such sites that were crushing the servers. There are far more people running their own bots to watch for new caches and bug drops in hopes of getting FTF. The people at the stats sites understand the concept of limiting their page queries. Joe Overload often doesn't. -WR
  16. Myth: Sexual assault usually occurs when a stranger attacks a woman in an isolated area like a parking garage or dark alley. Fact: 85% of sexual assaults occur between people who know each other (Warsaw, 1994). Rapists can be strangers, but most often they are people the victims know and trust. They can be husbands, boyfriends, relatives, and other individuals in that person's life.. -WR
  17. This is not a closeup of just THE disk!: -WR
  18. Awww, there're cute! Found this one along the trail today: -WR
  19. Yup! Although guardrail micros can become a challenge: -WR
  20. Hey, one of the closest caches to me right now is Haystack Hike! Back to the original question; Nothing has deterred me so far. You have to hit EVERYTHING if you want a cleared radius of 35 miles. Fortunately, we don't suffer from micro-spew in New England. Otherwise, I might be avoiding some due to extreme lamosity. -WR
  21. Here's one whose owner is a firefighter type: -WR
  22. Wow, I wish I could get service like this on software that goes for hundreds of dollars. Thank you so much for the quick turnaround on my issue. Forever a fan, WaldenRun
