  1. It is truly annoying to go looking for that elusive first to find only to find it hasn't actually been hidden yet. It's happened to me. HIDE IT FIRST! Jim
  2. I have used them before; in fact I have a couple in my garage as I write. I replaced them with real ammo cans because they are not water tight. They just don't withstand the elements like the real thing. That’s been my experience. Jim
  3. Will there be user defined buttons? I would like to be able to open GPXtoMaplet and GeoCalc from GSAK. Jim
  4. Why not post this in the GPS Units and Software thread and have your questions answered by ClydeE, the author of GSAK?
  5. Are you "opening" the file or using the "data import wizard"? If you try to "open" a csv file it will give you a bad format message. If you go to [DATA] and use the data import wizard it should open a csv file. Then save it as an est file.
  6. What version do you have? I use 2005 and it's there. Go to the drwing tool bar at the bottom of the page, if ithe drawing tool bar is not there go to [View][Toolbars] and turn it on. Elleven choices from the left is an icon thst looks like a page. Click on it. Move the cross hairs to the location you want and click again. Now fill in the text. I hope that helps. Jim
  7. We've met Charles Phillips a couple of times. We never would have guessed he was only 86 years old. He looks 100 but seems to get around like 60 . If you read this Charlie know that it's only in good natured fun.
  8. We use an E755 and an E355. They work great. Use GPXSonar (free) to view your GPX files. With GPXSonar you copy your Gpx file directly to your pocket pc without any other steps. I use Mapopolis instead of Pocket S&T. I have S&T but Mapopolis runs circles around it. I link an old yellow eTrx to it using a cable from Supply Net.
  9. I'm looking at our Yellow and our Legend and they both are off center. We've found more than more than 500 caches with them so I have to agree.
  10. I have not used them for sometime but they used to work just for me. Now I get nothing, no maps no icons nothing.
  11. Are the maps not working?
  12. Thanks and the "My Cache Page" just keeps getting better.
  13. I usually don't get involved in these Ford vs. Chevy type of discussions but I have to agree with NightPilot. The research I did before buying my PPC explained that the Palm OS was written to be a PDA where as a PPC with it's Windows based OS was written more as a full featured PC. Decide what you want to use it for and buy accordingly. I use a Toshiba e755 with GPXSonar and Mapopolis and it works great while others have the same success with their Palm Pilots. Jim
  14. Mapopolis works much better than Pocket Streets and Trips. I have them both.
  15. That would be sweet. Being in a paperless mode now there are times I would like to quickly add just a couple of caches without going through the whole PQ process. Keep up the good work, most of us appreciate it. Jim
  16. If you look in The American Heritage Dictionary you will find both "centre" and "colour". So who doesn't know how to spell? Thanks Clyde for a FREE program that replaces many. Jim
  17. Right off hand I can think of 2 caches that either my wife or I have had to climb about 10 feet to reach. It's all part of the game.
  18. I would like the field notes to not be buried 3 levels deep in the menu. Jim
  19. We use a Toshiba e755 hooked up to an eTrex. I tried Pocket S&T and it was pretty much useless. I then tried Mapopolis and am very happy with it. They have a free program called GPXtoMaplet that converts your GPX file to a landmark file for Mapopolis. Where Pocket S&T would only let you load a portion of a map Mapopolis lets you load maps of counties. It will then seamlessly open each contiguous map automatically as you cross from one county to the next. I use GPXSonar also. It works great! We cached from Houston, Texas to Portage, Wisconsin and back without any problems at all. Jim
