  1. This is very impressive. I look forward to actually being able to afford Glass and using it like this.
  2. I thought that this upgrade was going to improve navigation, but really it hasn't. As a web developer that's been designing websites and user interfaces for over 12 years there are a few things that I've picked up as common place practices in web design. One of these is the drop down navigation bar. These things are marvelous and when I saw that you were going to put one on the site I was excited. Unfortunately it too me all of 10 seconds to realize that it hasn't been used to its fullest potential. The concept of a drop down navigation bar is to allow necessary links to be available on every page. Nearly all the links on the My Profile page could be placed into the nav bar and make this site so much easier to find things. I highly recommend you add the following to the nav bar: (items without dots are menu names, items with dots are the choices once the drop down shows up. Premium Features Get Started Build Pocket Queries Saved GPX Files Manage Lists Set Up Notifications Account Options View Your Account Details Find Another Player E-Mail Another Player Upgrade Another Player View Your Friends View Your Stat Bar User Routes Create a Route Find Routes Upload GPX/KML Route Your Profile Quick View Lists Geocaches (Yours) Trackable Items (Yours) Trackables Inventory Trackables Collection Souvenirs Statistics Benchmarks Member Features Your Friends Your Account Details Now admittedly some of these are duplicates and the lists could be trimmed, but at least you'd be able to access, say, the Pocket Queries page from any other page on the site rather than having to go back to the Profile page every time you need to manage your queries, etc. Please make this change. If I need to put it in the feedback section I will, but I beg of you, make it simple to navigate to ANY point of the site FROM any point of the site by adding these menu items.
  3. There is a great Droid app for getting GPS coordinates called GPS Averaging. Does a great job getting coordinates and lessens the chance of an accidental inaccurate reading.
  4. The problem with this study is that it's missing another group... one that is both rewarded AND punished.
  5. If we did have a "lame caches" vote, I'd prefer that it was a separate number than the favorites vote instead of it being a -1. Could even possibly lower the ratio at which people get lame cache votes. Like 100 to 1
  6. I'm pretty certain that all carriers require you to get a data plan with any smart phone. They do this to keep people from accidentally turning on the data connection and running up a huge bill without realizing it. AT&T has tiered data plans that allow you to purchase a smaller data package than the unlimited for a lower price. Get the smallest you can and keep a close eye on how much you use.
  7. My suggestion to you: make a Pocket Query that will pull up LARGE caches with a low Difficulty and Terrain rating. Then find the one that's closest to you before you take your kids out on Christmas day. Make sure you bring trinkets for them to trade if they find something they like.
  8. They really should let you make PQs for Archived caches so that we can attempt to clean up some geotrash.
  9. Somewhere around 27 for me, but I almost wish that I'd waited to see some of the more unique hides. I want to plant devious caches and at 70 finds still haven't found too many of those.
  10. Maybe I just care more about this than I should... When I first started caching I created separate accounts for myself and my wife. However, she only has interest in caching with me, but I tend to cache any chance I get, and that includes times I'm not with her (often with friends.) Even then, she really doesn't care to sign in and log her finds, so I've often taken it upon myself to do it for her. This is getting old, however. I know that the numbers don't matter, but if she ever did really get into it, she might want to keep track of all her old finds. Then the other day it occurred to me that a trackable might be a good way to handle the issue. She could keep it with her, but in my inventory on GC.com and whenever we found something together, I could just have the trackable Visit the cache. It would work well for babies too, since I, personally (and this is not a knock against those who do this already), feel creating an account for a baby and having to write logs etc for them is just a little silly. Your thoughts? Oh, and if I did this, should I go back through her history on her account and log the trackable through those caches just to make certain it's a full record of all her finds?
  11. I'd first heard about it on facebook, once of my wife's friends mentioned she went geocaching. I did some research on it, but it didn't interest me because it was all about hiking and being outside, something I've never really been interested in. Then I'd heard about it from a user on another forum I frequent and still, it didn't interest me. Then a friend of mine that I worship at church with mentions he saw some lady wandering around our parking lot with a GPS in her hand and he asked her what she was doing. Apparently there was a geocache at the edge of the parking lot there. I did some more research and found out that there were several near my home and work. Then I became a man obsessed. I had to have them all. Drives my wife batty because I pretty much know exactly where all the geocaches are in the area around me and insist on pointing the ones I haven't found out every time I pass them.
  12. I'm still new, and my greatest frustration are needle in the haystack hides. Stuff that's so well camoed and stuck in bushes. It's the creative hides that make me grin.
  13. There is a cache near our church building. Saw some people wandering near the buildings there, and I just simply shouted (good distance away) "Hey, are you looking for the cache?" Started a good convo.
  14. This is going to be perfect for one of my upcoming hides... I really didn't want to just place a nano and be done with it, I wanted something that's more fitting for the situation. Think you might be willing to share what you used to put this together?
