But if you don't have much elevation differences in country as flat as a pancake TOPO isn't going to be of much benefit to you. You probably would be better off purchasing one of the other mapsource products. team sidewinder LOST AND FOUND DEPT. I agree with your statement to a point. With flat lands that are void of wetlands, Mapsource Topo will show few topographic variations because there aren't any. What it will show is many of the woods roads and trails that the highway versions will not show. _________________________________________________________ On the other hand, you have different fingers.

The harm doesn't stop cavers, rock climbers, hikers, rock crawlers, mountain bikers, hunters, and everyone else. The harm caused by geocaching is minimal and recoverable quicly once the cache is removed. All caches have a limited life span. My preference is not to damage the resource at all so that it does not have to recover. This thread is just another "I am a protector of the natural resource vs I am a protector of my rights to do any darn thing I want". I vote for the natural resource. _________________________________________________________ On the other hand, you have different fingers.

  5. quote:Originally posted by wannafly:Sounds like great news! I have been thinking about placing a cache and am not sure where, theres a nice park near me that doesnt have one and i'd like to place one there, i'll talk to someone there. Regarding state parks, how can we find out if a park is a state park, besides asking? I'm pretty sure all the ones i know of are city/county parks and i'm not aware of who i'd contact. I'd be interested in some of the florida cachers posting here with what they've done. State Parks are easy to identify. All state parks have the word "State Park" in the name of the park. So if the entrance sign does not end in "State Park" then it's probably a county or local park or other public land agency. I see that you are in the orlando area. The state parks there would be Wekiwa Springs state park in Apopka and Lower Wekiva River state park and Rock Springs Run Reserve State Park. Hope this helps. _________________________________________________________ On the other hand, you have different fingers.
  6. geopug, sounds like you did things just right. I'm sure your cache will be a great one. Some folks get in a hurry to hide their first cache and lets just say, they could have done a much better job if they had found a few first. _________________________________________________________ On the other hand, you have different fingers.
  7. I don't think it will be approved simply because even the old roving physical caches are no longer allowed. There ain't but one way to find out though and that's submitt it. Good luck. _________________________________________________________ On the other hand, you have different fingers.

I read your log for the cache "above the clouds" and I'm a little confused. Did either of you actually find the cache or was it confirmed missing? I bet that was a real experience. I hope to do a cache like that one day. _________________________________________________________ On the other hand, you have different fingers.
  9. Think your missing it. Near the bottom right hand side of the cache list pages there is a button that says "Download Waypoints". _________________________________________________________ On the other hand, you have different fingers.
  10. The wife and I own, two Garmin Legends, One GPS V, One GPS Map 176, One GPSMAP 76S, and One Garmin Street Pilot III. We use the different units for different applications such as routing with a car, boating, Geocaching and one for mapping our property and timber etc. _________________________________________________________ On the other hand, you have different fingers.
  11. Vacman, I have to agree with the approver on this one. I think the timing is wrong to have any type of cache published in such a high profile place. I'm sure the cache is very worthy but the place and time is wrong. Don't feel bad, the approvers have a hard time sorting out all the variables and this time the approver is making a close judgment call and we need to support that. _________________________________________________________ On the other hand, you have different fingers.
  12. Please don't throw any stones, I'm a Park Manager for two State Parks. Oh yea, Geocaching is not only allowed but encouraged in the parks I manage. _________________________________________________________ On the other hand, you have different fingers.
  13. quote:Originally posted by funpilot:As the title suggests, I think it is tough to get one unit that can do both auto navigation and geocaching very well.... So, I would prefer to focus on only this sport. Also, I am one that always needs the "best toy" (still a kid at heart). As such I keep finding myself drawn to the new meridian color.... Will I kick myself for not getting a Garmin? I have to agree with Stunod if you want a one unit does it all. If you want the best of both worlds I suggest the "Street pilot III" for car navigation and anything you want for the foot work. I have a Gamin Legend, GPS V and a new GPSMap 76S and I love them all. I'm like you I need the best. Anyway, the street pilot is my baby and I got it for around $750.00 from GPSDiscount on the internet. Good Luck. _________________________________________________________ On the other hand, you have different fingers.

Those links are pretty simple URLs, but I think some of the data is populated from some Javascript functions. When you get the profile link dropdown, does it look like this? http://ubbx.Groundspeak.com/6/ws/elias/BrownMule_profile_issue.gif Also note the URL listed in the status bar of the browser in the image. When you put your mouse over the "View BrownMule's Public Profile" link, do you see a similar URL? Elias I get the same dropdown but the URL it is directed to is different. The one I get for BrownMule is: http://www.geocaching.com/profile/default.asp?A=$GS_NON_OT_USER_ID&u=8956050431 and the one I get for you (Elias) is http://www.geocaching.com/profile/default.asp?A=$GS_NON_OT_USER_ID&u=3686051431 _________________________________________________________ On the other hand, you have different fingers.
