  1. Hi cachers! I'd like to introduce you to an application I wrote, which analyzes the results of your "my finds" query. It runs on Windows (sorry, Mac people). You can find it here: https://github.com/mmendelson222/geocaching-fizzy The app allows you to "deep dive" into your finds, allowing you to filter them in new ways, and quickly view your logs. I first worked on it 5 years ago, when I was motivated to write an application to tell me WHICH caches fulfilled specific d/t combos, or a particular calendar date. You get a d/t or calendar grid like the ones from Geocaching.com, but you can click on any grid square to see the caches represented by that square, with coord.info links etc. Filtering features mean that you can show a grid of ONLY the caches in one state, or of one cache type. There are many things that this is great for, including old challenges - you can search for words in the cache title, the description, OR in your logs! It's also easy to answer questions like "What does my d/t grid look like for New York?" And of course, which caches satisfy that? There's also a search by owner, a list of "avenged" caches, etc. I recently added attribute filtering too! For more info and installation instructions, go here: https://github.com/mmendelson222/geocaching-fizzy There's also a bug tracker if you encounter any issues. ALL of the source code is there for your inspection, if desired. I welcome developer contributions.
  2. barefootguru, thanks for trying out the program. But my app does a lot more than just the D/T matrix. There are 4 different ways to view your data (D/T, calendar, Jasmer and by co), and all of them can be filtered by type and the year found. What I like the best is that you can drill down, see the actual caches that make up each statistic, and see the actual logs for those finds! I have used project-gc a few times, but don't have a premium account. Maybe it can do all that. I'll have to dig a little deeper. The project-gc map is great - I have used that, but I don't plan to integrate maps (or any kind of live search) into this.
  3. Thanks Kunarion, I fixed that issue and updated the code. Let me know if you see anything else.
  4. Just wanted to point out that I have added a variety of additional features: Filter by year or cache type Click link in cache list to view web page Click link in cache list to see your log entries for that cache You'll see your geocaching data in a new way, guaranteed. Here's that link again
  5. Thanks folks. I have fixed the link. Any comments, suggestions on the software itself? Has anyone found it fun or useful?
  6. When attempting to fill in my D/T grid, I found myself wanting to "browse" through my grid and see how I had satisfied previous combinations. Like how and when did I get that 4/2??? So I wrote a windows program (sorry mac folks) that generates a CLICKABLE Difficulty/Terrain rating grid. Clicking on a square gives you a list of all caches found with that DT rating, (each with a link to its page, etc.). Click on the "Calendar" button for a clickable calendar as well. Click on day for a list of your finds on that date, through the years. At someone's suggestion, I added Jasmer as well. The program an installation instructions are here: https://github.com/mmendelson222/geocaching-fizzy. The software is free. After you click on the link (which should now work), scroll down for installation instructions and more. Finally, if anyone has suggestions for other ways to get the word out on this, let me know.
