  1. "JB" says it's okay. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...86-c332841529da Ummm no. Read the logs, people are talking about phony radiation sickness issues in a tongue in cheek manor. . If there was an 'abandoned nuclear reactor' that was still hot do you think it would accessible to the public? In Washington we have old nuclear reactors that are cold and have multiple layers of security. The CO talks about the site being under the DNR and that the DNR has given permission for people to enter a hot containment area. A real abandoned and hot site would be under the jurisdiction of the NRC or the DOD or both. More than likely it is an abandoned industrial site but not a nuclear reactor. Cute though. Rails are privately owned but are also considered a 'vital interest' and are protected federally as well as locally. Kind of like, oh I don't know, abandoned nuclear reactors maybe.
  2. Actually being in uniform doesn't help either, in fact it makes it worse. When I have time I have been caching at work, take a guess at what I do by my name. When looking 'official' people tend to watch you because they think something is wrong. Luckily I work nights but I still find it easier to blend in when I am in street clothes.
  3. Does not apply in this situation. The First Amendment applies to censorship by the government. An individual crossing out an offensive word is no more a violation of the First Amendment than the rules of this very forum. "However I do find censorship quite 'offensive' (that's also just me), so can you please not censor logs in future? I'd really appreciate that." So his belief that 'censorship' is offensive is more important than your (and most peoples) belief that children need not be exposed to offensive language. Quite arrogant when you think about it.
  4. A nano inside of a bison tube that's inside a film canister. The film canister is in a small lock-n-lock. The lock-n-lock is stuffed in a rubber chicken that is stuffed into a rubber duck which is stuffed into a rubber turkey. A turduckenlocksterbisonano.
  5. The micropocalypse? Does this correspond with 2012. Will the number of micros suddenly cause them all to collapse in on themselves and create a singularity? Will we all be killed in a vortex of spinning light poles and guard rails? Flaming film canisters lighting the world on fire. Truly to horrible to contemplate. Sorry. I know I am too new here to be such a smart aleck. I just couldn't pass it up. In my limited experience I find some of them to be very tricky to find. Some, not so much.
  6. Upkeep could almost be a full time job for someone.
  7. Hi my names scaramedic and I am new geocachaholic. I must admit I was absolutely clueless about LPC's. I find some of my caches at work. So my partner and I would occasionally find one in the bushes. but for the life of me I couldn't find the ones in a parking lot. I would wander around bathed in the very light of the LPC thinking I really suck at this. It was only after seeing LPC in a hint and googling it that I understood. Yes I saw the light. I do credit LPC's for one thing though. I've found one cache that I immediately assumed was an LPC for the basic fact of there being light at GZ, I work nights by the way. Imagine my shock when it wasn't there and I actually had to look for it. They make a good distraction. Same as putting one near a guard rail. These are things I will keep in mind when I start hiding. P.S. Am I the only one that thinks it would be funny to attach rubber bands on the base attached to the skirt so every time someone pulled it up it would just pop back down?
  8. Hello. New here, first post. I just had to know what a thousand caches would look like on the map. So I stitched together the maps from the search for the Alien Highway cache series. I assume these are not all LPC's or guardrails? I knew I should have bought stock in magnetic key holder companies. Seriously though, that is dedication to place that many caches.
