  1. Moose Mob that is my favorite line so far! I just might have to use that one!
  2. I was in the Civil Air patrol as a young man and went into the US Navy out of highschool... I served in the last leg of the Gulf War and went on to support the Bosnia reflief flights from the Deck of the USS John F. Kennedy as a communications and intelligence specialist. I still have dreams that I am back on board that fine Naval Vessle...
  3. When you post your find, type the following: Took log book and pen, left a stick and pinecone that was close by... Anyone else have a pratical joke idea? Seriously, I have no intentions on doing this... I just thought it would make a good post!
  4. Hopefully I can be the FTF on at least one of em... The caches are kinda out of the way for most folks and the sport isn't real popular around these parts to strong. (yet) Thanks for your input!
  5. I'm not wanting to be considered a "hound", I just want to find the caches!
  6. All three are placed by the same person. I'm not sure the "unspoken rule" if there is one... I would like to find them all even if I am the FTF, but I'm not looking to offend the person who set them up. Would it offend you if someone was the FTF on more than one of your caches? All 3 of these are within 10 miles of each other so it wouldn't be an out of the way thing to get to them...
  7. I've yet to look for one in the dark and it never occured to me that someone would do this until I noticed a few posts about it...
  8. ...when you're pulled over and have to explain to the cop that the gps unit stuck to your windshield is NOT a radar detector!
  9. Hey at least you go an ammo can out of the deal! lol... recycle the cache's container and hide your own with it. You'll be doing good by the sport and even the old owner. Someday maybe he will find his own ammo can with your cache in it!
  10. The mystery caches seem like a fun experience. I bet it's harder than one would think!
  11. I have the latest topo maps... Can I do it with those?
  12. The only way I would go to your virtual cache at your University is if it includes acceptance into a sorority with kegs a-plenty!!! lol... jk. Good luck with your virtuals. I've been to one, but it wasn't the same as finding "something" and leaveing my "mark" on the log book... no-wat-I-mean???
  13. I checked out the Member only pocket search feature and it listed several caches close in my area... But I don't see a way to click a "map" feature to see it virtually... I can click the cache and see the cords but not place them on a map... any ideas? Being I am new to this, I am probably missing something. Surely there is a user freindly way to do this.
  14. But it seems that ANYONE can log onto the site, find a cache and rob or steal the entire cache and the cacher who set it up would never know about it... A members only cache would (in my opinion) set some ease to the mind of the cacher who set up the cache... Comitment is part of trustworthiness... I'm just fishing for opinions...
  15. It seems geocacher's from this site would prefer the member only cache versus the nonmember for security of their caches, then again, a popular cache couldn't be a member only cache... What is the preference of the viewers here?
  16. Thanks! How many would you say there are compared to non member caches? 20/80%? more/less???
  17. So they aren't a different color than regular caches? I'm just confused as to how I distiguish them from non memeber caches...
  18. How, where do I find them? What color are they on the "map" page?
  19. What did you do with your old legend with the broken screen?
  20. I understand about the hidden part... thanks for the heads up. I did notice that in the faq, but I have seen some posted that said they were partially buried. I hope to get my FTF in the next few days if I'm not beaten to it!!! Thanks for your post.
  21. When I first considered this sport, I borrowed my Uncle's Yellow Garmin Etrex and was able to find 3 geocache's. It was nice and accurate. I wanted to get my own but I wanted a basemap and plenty of room for downloaded waypoints and more accurate maps. The legend was by far the best economical of anything I looked at. I have tinkered with it and I am convinced that I made the right choice. I found it on ebay and got a great deal on it. I guess it depends on your preference, but I don't think you will be dissapointed with the legend.
  22. I plan to find 4 or 5 more for ideas as many mentioned above... I will then place one. I have a place in mind, and I feel it's a pretty good spot. Just a couple of quick questions though, can I bury most of the cache? Have you ever found one that was partially or fully buried? Also, since I'm new to this, I was reading somewhere that there was a First Time Finder specail gift? What is this... I'm not wanting to disappoint my FTF'r... lol I plan to spend around 25 bucks for the cache and that includes the container... how much of that should be spent on the FTF gift? Thanks folks for all of your input so far, I'm listening to you... and thanks for putting up with this Rookie thus far!
