  1. "When only outlaws have guns; Only outlaw's kids will accidentially shoot themselves !" That would be a parental problem...
  2. Good God, no. I don't even own a gun. You make it sound like it's a sin! No it's not a sin, it's just not a choice I would make. In my opinion, those who own guns expose themselves to more risk, not less. But then, I don't want to argue all those warn out pro-gun/con-gun arguments. They're boring, circular, and have been done before ad nauseum to no productive end. You believe what you believe, and I believe what I believe. So let's just leave it at that. If carrying a piece makes you feel safer, more power to you. Just make sure everyone you cache with knows you are carrying it, I guess. Oh I assure you it is a topic that is strictly an opinional subject... I just chose to have it for my families protection. I went through training and have grown up with firearms through my time. If my family was ever in jepordy I would rather have it than think of what could have happen if I didn't... I thank God for our Bill or Rights! I wouldn't reccommend anyone who hasn't been trained to use a firearm. That would not be safe for anyone. I respect your desicion regardless if I believe in it or not. That's what makes this country great. I'm from the Great South and I have been raised with them. My only goal was to find out who uses them or not... I didn't mean to be confrotational with my last post. I appoligize if I offended anyone. ...But, I won't let every geocacher (or everyone else) know that I am carryin a firearm. I know when to use and when not to. No need to "flash" anything. That would be like showing my lunch bag to cachers "just in case" they are vegitarians... I don't plan to use my lunch meat unless I have too! lol...
  3. Good God, no. I don't even own a gun. You make it sound like it's a sin!
  4. When you go out in the woods or across unknow terrain, do you carry a hand gun or rifle for protection against snakes, or other unknown threats? I carry my firearm everywhere... read my sig!!! lol... legal advise: check your state and local laws!
  5. wow... and I was just tryin to find a cache. *throws rock at next poster* *hides behind chair* *runs and jumps out of open window* *yells "SUCKERS!* *chute doesn't open* *feels lucky*
  6. ...forgot to mention leap years into the days calculations! 3,711,431 days to be exact... oh and for the perfectionist, that includes daylight savings time! lol...
  7. Well now... since my last post, we have had some minor changes... We've all went up in age! We have broken the 10,000 year old mark with a total of 10168 years of age over 310 people over 10 years or older for an average of 32.8 years per cacher. If you figure all of the years into days, we come to (now get this!) 3,711,320 days total that we have all shared on this earth. I guess that means we have seniority somewhere with something... As soon as I find out what that means I'll let you know and you (we) can cut in line and be served 1st!!! lol... When you read this, have a good day and a better tomorrow!
  8. I appoligize to all for my deliquency on commited posts... Here are the calqulations. These were tallied on all exact ages from 10 years on up. We have 8878 years over 268 people for an average of 33.13 years of age. WE'RE ALL YOUNG!!! lol... Keep smiling and I will continue to average the ages as they are posted...
  9. Sorry all, I've been extremely busy. I will cruch the numbers Friday night and post them.
  10. Glad to see another airdale... I served proudly on the USS John F Kennedy CV-67. I still have dreams I'm on that fine Naval Vessle...
  11. Oh and by the way, as a Veteran myself, I wanted to thank you Mr W7WT for what you did in WW2. Whatever you did, thanks. I don't know of any other WW2 vets who geocache... Including you, I've only met 3 WW2 vets in my life. One man I know served in WW2 all the way through Vietnam and retired after that war was over. He went in when he was 16 years old... He is in his upper 70's and still bench presses over 200 lbs. He's in better shape than most people I know. His wife is a young 45 years old. Maybe his young bride keeps him motivated! lol... I like talking to him about his experiences during his Army career. Just thought I would pass that on to you.
  12. Ok... Here is the crunched number for the day. The numbers were calculated from W7WT on up, and I will include other posters in tomorrow's number crunching... I did this two different ways to see how the outcome would be. 1st I tallied the number based on everyone who gave exact ages who were at least a year old on up. Then I tallid the numbers for those 10 years on up. Here is how the numbers came out: So far we have 6396 years spread over 199 people. This includes everyone a year on up for a grand total of 32.14 years as an average. If you remove anyone younger than 10, you we end up with a total of 6200 years spread over 166 people for an average of 37.14 years. There are the averages so far... I find it interesting that 33 youngsters brings the average down 5 years.
  13. It looks like a wingding font from Windows Word program but I haven't checked that far... maybe this helps...
  14. So far I have averaged the number to 37.5 years... That's a nice average to find. For those who don't read through the posts before posting to the topic, please don't think I am determining an "old" age... I assure you 70 is young in my book... When I am retired and I am only 5 years into my retierment, I will slap someone if they call me old! lol...
  15. Aww now cmon! I said I think old is when you stop moving... !!! Please don't drop the guilt trip on me! I know a man who is 73 and can out do me on nearly everything with few exceptions. ahem... How bout if I said you're old when you reach 100 years of age? Now there's some time under your belt, but with the help of a scooter you can still GeoCache!
  16. All you have to do is find it using your GPS... DUH!!! lol...
  17. Actually I failed to tell the WHOLE truth... Team HHD1 is My wife 30, Daughter 10, Son 6, and myself... Glad to see folks of all ages enjoy this sport. I guess this is ONE thing that joins all generations. Not common among most things at all. Anyone else?, don't be scared - nothing to be ashamed of... I don't look at it as a year older; I see it as God giving me a promotion!
  18. It would be my 1st! I would have it attatched by a local jewler to a new travel bug and place it in my 1st cache. I have thought long and hard about this cache and I am currently making it. This coin would travel with the TB to many hands so many would get a chance to hold this coin. I would love to see how far this coin/TB will go. I'll even send you the TB number as soon as it arrives! This would be the best FTF item! *fingers crossed!*
  19. My guess is that it is more popular with older people (35-50) than the younger folks... I could be wrong. Please don't misinterpret my age range, I'm not saying 35 to 50 is "being old"! I think your old when you stop moving!!! lol... by the way, I'll be 33 this month...
  20. Mr Snazz you have to be joking about the ammo cans... You stumped your toe on one so they should be banned? Was you barefoot when you went looking for the cache? What happens if you are scratched by a tree limb, should trees be banned? This whole thing is rediculous. The cacher who hides the cache should use common sense. Doesn't this site frown upon hiding caches under bridges and other places that might draw unwanted attention? I wonder why other sites aren't doing this... Common sense... that's the bottom line. I won't paint mine red or purple. The camo can above is a great idea. The whole object of this sport is to keep it hidden. Not to arrive at a location and see a Hot Pink ammo can from 30 yards with signs pointing to it. Anyway, ... whatever...
  21. If it's a park, residential people shouldn't suspect a thing... A park is for people to gather. I wouldn't worry about it, I would worry about muggles (sp) being around if the finder were to try and find it. It's a park. People gather. Neighbors see people at the park, they suspect nothing.
  22. So far ours was done by the Nash's... here is the link to the site page, hope it works for you http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=232234 copy and paste if it doesn't... Maybe someone could tell me how to post links like I've seen the professionals do on this site? Very nice place to visit, wonderful for the family!
  23. I plan to take mine on my next flight... Imagine that little arrow over the map moving 300+ mph!!! That has to be cool. Anyway, as long as you don't take the New Garmin 9mm gangsta legend, you should be fine... lol...
  24. I just left my 1st note... My family and I were unable to search for the cache because the road was covered in water about 200 feet from the cache. Since we couldn't actually look for the cache, I didn't mark DNF. It didn't seem fair to mark that since we CNF (could not find) the cache. If I was able to look all around the cords and was unable to find it, I would mark DNF... fair is fair. I did mark DNF on another cache that we were able to go to and look until we decided to stop without luck. I like the note mark... It still allows the Hider to see that folks are interested in the cache and the reason the "search" couldn't happen...
