  1. In my opinion, this is definitely a little harsh, and you are suggesting that you speak for "we, as geocachers." That's more than expressing an opinion. I would agree it is harsh...And I am glad the OP let us know about it. I am close and plan on doing this in the coming weeks Thanks!
  2. Answer: I never won a free geocoin contest... And I was not geocaching in 2007 when these ere made!

  5. Well apparently Garmin does read Geocaching.com. I think Garmin should be thankful Mpallen helped them. Because most likely I would have returned my GPS and went with another non-gamin GPS. I am still trying to figure why Garmin still has 2.30 available as an update... Thanks again!
  6. I rolled my firmware back also and I have an eTrex 20. I used Mpallen's firmware he had for eTrex 30. I figured if it broke it I would return it as I am still in the 30 day window. But downgraded fine back 2.20.

  8. I emailed Garmin in regards to this issue. (http://www.garmin.com/us/support/contact) It maybe helpful and speed the fix if several others did also. But as someone mention it may get fixed rather quickly since its a new product and I have already seen 1 product review mentioning this issue.
  9. Thanks for the reply. I appear to have had some success last night and today. My Etrex30 now has several GPX files on it and they all load. The largest is 8.3mb and there are others of 5.1mb, 3.4mb and 2.1mb. There are also several less than 2mb. These gpx files are inside the Garmin/GPX folder on the device. Most of them were copied across using Basecamp but the largest 4 were just dragged and dropped in Windows Explorer. The only thing that I can see that I've done that is different from previously is that I installed 3 routes on the device. This was done by importing 3 route gpx files (from a mountain walking website) into Basecamp and them exporting them from basecamp to the device. Since having routes on the device I've been able to export several gpx files of caches. After exporting each file from Basecamp I closed Basecamp and then did a 'Safely remove hardware' in Windows. The export worked every time. With the files that I dragged and dropped I usually did a SRH between each one. In two instance I dragged and dropped 2 files - the time with small files both copied across and worked as expected but the the time with 2 large files the GPS hang as previously. I've been able to copy across over 10 files now with a successful one at over 7mb. It would be interesting to know if creating routes on the device works for others as well. Duncan Did not work for me.
  10. Thats my issue! Do you know if in GSAK you can change the file size? It's really annoying to use 2MB as a max file size. Saw a post that Garmin is aware of issue but I am also wondering if it will take days or weeks or months to fix. Also does anyone know how to downgrade software on the etrex yet?
  11. Anyone know if GSAK will split a large file into smaller ones? Kipper01
  12. Anyone else have the etrex 20? I am stuck at the "loading waypoints, tracks, and routes screen." I pull the batteries just to get that past that screen after waiting an hour and once I power it back on I still get no caches in the device.
