  1. No the childproof lids aren't waterproof either. Pill bottles make lousy containers. Teflon tape around the threads seals them. My first cache was a pill bottle, and stayed dry for about 6 months (including during some torrential storms) on the ground before being muggled.
  2. Usually nothing. I'll stay up until I feel reeeeeeally tired (1 to 2 in the morning) then fall asleep. That's often necessary because after a long day of caching, I fall asleep in the car.
  3. I usually can't stand coffee. I can stand Golden Pecan-and that's iced with lots of sugar and cream. If I want to get caffeinated, I grab a can of Red Bull. Much faster (and better tasting).
  4. I've had fun with KCopoly I really don't cache a lot out of Topeka, but when I do it's usually in Kansas City. That's about the only cache series I ever have a chance to work on.
  5. No puzzle is too hard. If someone thinks it is, that's what the ignore list is for.

  7. Hmm, I was wrong about my area. 15 mile radius: 5 (19.2%) Micro 1 ( 3.8%) Not chosen 14 (53.8%) Regular 4 (15.4%) Small 2 ( 7.7%) Virtual
  8. May I ask how you're calculating that? In our area, we are probably 45% micros (guesstimation)... That's not saying a lot, since we only have about 20 caches within 10 miles. However, I like hunting the micros when I go out, some of them present a nice challenge. 3 I've found (well, one's not found, but I had a head slap moment and emailed the owner) were micros that looked like they were supposed to be there. I've made a few attempts at a terrain 5 micro (well, I guess it's a small... whatever) that's given me some bad bruises. Whatever, it's still fun Then I've found the altoids tins in rock walls, film canisters in drain pipes, and other LUMs following that path. I hope to hide a few devious micros in my area, but so far my only cache has been a regular. BlueNinja
  9. If I had a guide? Sure! I'd love to do something like this and learn how to use climbing gear.
  10. I don't have any SERIOUS caching injuries, but on Saturday I took quite a fall from an urban terrain 5 cache. It's hidden up under a walkway, and I tried to chimney climb up 2 pillars (others have done it before) about 10 feet up, and when I started to come down I slipped and fell right on my rear. I managed to hobble back to the car and go up another time, but then I was too sore to retrieve the cache (and get more than 5 feet off the ground). I WILL get it next time!
  11. I've always noticed that if you load a cache twice, it'll be in the GPSr twice. This is with a Legend, I assume it's the same with the Vista.
  12. No, usually I'm in a t-shirt and shorts I suggest you look here if that's what you're looking for.

Dang, I have to be over 18.
  14. I love caching in inclement weather. I usually have a coat and long pants just in case... That's all.
  15. I wouldn't think there would be more than 2 or 3 stores nationwide, and the chances of one being in your area (or close to your area) would be slim, so you'd still have to order online. Have your parents order. Nobody from Groundspeak is going to come to your door with a knife in the middle of the night.
  16. No, I usually don't use FRS radios because of the limited range. I recommend studying for an Amateur service license (aka ham radio) and getting a handheld on the 2 meter band and keeping it tuned to 146.52 or your local repeater. BlueNinja (from Topeka)
  17. I'm not sure about that.... Some species of orbweaver such as neoscona (niascona?) can build their webs extremely quick for something so small, I've seen a totally new web built overnight under our porch roof.
  18. Erm... Caches aren't allowed to be buried. More like "hidden"
  19. Usually every 2 hours or so. The thought is most often something to the effect of "I need more caches to find. When will the other locals hide more dadgum caches?" followed by "Why don't I hide a cache? Oh, because I'm home alone and don't have any suitable containers. Dadgum!"
  20. Personally, I'd ask permission and then log it.
  21. Sanding is all that is required for the foam to get a good grip. Some rockets I build use a plastic body tube (Yes, I think it's stupid) and G10 fiberglass fins, and once I get the tube and fins sanded, I pour 2-part foam in the back of the rocket between the motor mount and body and it sticks like nothing else.
  22. This miht be a stupid ques. but, is there like a conversion chart for that. Conversion chart? All that means is you can't have it under about a yard of water for more than 30 minutes.
  23. The manual should have something about it.
