  1. Thanks for that! Have never seen it so far. ?
  2. That's what you get when a CO leaves traces of placing caches. I for one have learnt my lesson in that regard.
  3. Good one. That's exactly how I've been doing it. Especially when you're doing a circular route, sorting by distance is not helpful at all.
  4. This is actually a pretty common thing here. I've been made fun of several times when a new cache of mine got found by just finding it instead of solving the puzzle first. Oh well, it's all fun and games.
  5. The script works in every browser that supports extensions. You will of course need a userscript manager such as GreaseMonkey, TamperMonkey or ViolentMonkey.
  6. Just to clarify: by default, all caches are shown. The script just adds a button with which you can hide/reshow archived caches. For users with a lot of placed caches (like myself), it's handy to be able to temporarily ignore archived caches.
  7. Recently, I got into placing nightcaches myself, and I've just (2 hours ago) got my second nightcache published: https://coord.info/GC8RJM3, named: The Stars, Like Dust. Anyone get that reference? It's pretty hard out here in the Netherlands. Almost all forests are forbidden to be entered after sunset. Rural roads would seem like a good option, but I prefer nightcache routes that don't lead next to houses/farms, to avoid disturbing people who live there... so all in all, some creativity is definitely needed.
  8. Why not just ask the respective cache owners?
  9. For all cache owners out there, this could be useful to you. I've made a userscript that makes it easy to hide archived caches on the Owned Caches page. The script adds a button on top, and changes the header so that it mentions the number of active caches. After pressing the button: Link to the userscript: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/404233-toggle-archived-geocaches Feedback and/or feature requests are welcome!
  10. It's actually a virtual cache, but still: https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC88ZNB_cesta-hrdinov-snp-769-km is a 769 km long hike with 33 waypoints. Quote from the cache description: It is the longest and most important tourist route in our country. Depending on performance, you need to prepare for 25 to 30 days to complete it (according to hiking.sk, it is 224 hours and 15 minutes). You will meet long asphalts, wide forest roads, small villages and big cities. You will walk through the fields, but you will also climb to a height of over 2,000 meters above sea level. On the entire road, which is part of the European long-distance route E8, you climb almost 32,000 meters in height.
  11. You could try searching for caches with a lot of favorite points. The cache map of Project GC (https://project-gc.com/Tools/LiveMap) is very useful for that.
  12. That's the spirit! To each his own.
  13. So far, so good. I completed the 28th, 29th and 30th D/T grid, and decided I won't ever look at it again. (though I do remember saying the same when I completed the 10th, 15th and 20th grid - oh well) Only 5 more D/T combinations for the Large D/T grid. Only 3 caches in the entire country that would make for only 2 D/T combinations. This is one for the holidays I guess. As for the rest: meh. Though I decided the other day that I'll fly to Sweden as soon as things are kind of normal to complete the Jasmer.
  14. For me as a cache owner, the amount of favourite points plays a big part in my cache being a success or not - and when push comes to shove, archive it, or keep it alive for a while. I tend to maintain kind of a 10% finds/favourites ratio threshold.
  15. I don't agree. That's what local authorities are for.
  16. I'm pretty sure you are. Enjoy your HQ visit, I didn't find it that special, but still a must-do for every cacher of course.
  17. The Project GC Live Map has this built in. I've never had any reason to use Geocaching.com's map anyway, PGC's one is superior in every way I see it.
  18. This challenge came online last week, along with another 'international' one, for which you have to attend events in at least 5 different countries (named 'Blending in'). So much for the spamming part. On-topic: I've got 2 trips planned for this year, a business conference in Lithuania to which I'm adding a couple of day to visit Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Russia (Kaliningrad) and Belarus. In the summer we'll be spending 2 weeks in Romania, with a sidetrip to Moldova - supposedly the least visited country in Europe or something. We'll see...
  19. Unfortunately, they're actually the same cache type. Look at GC2401K, the Lost & Found event you've attended. It actually says 'Community Celebration Event'. But: come to think of it, I could implement some temporal logic based on the year the event was in.
  20. Haha, nice to see I'm not the only one wanting to find as many different cache types in every country I visit. I've got a fitting challenge cache in the pipeline, for which the checker is already online: https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC8JTHP/44683. It requires you to find at least 100 country/cache types combinations.
  21. Nice to see this topic return. Here are my goals, though nothing set in stone of course: Fill the D/T grid for the 28th, 29th and 30th time. Only 7 caches in total needed for that, shouldn't be that big of a problem. Fill the D/T grid for LARGE caches. Coincidentally, this needs 7 more finds as well, but it's WAY harder. Find the Signal Locationless cache. Lots of Megas here, no problem. Gotta get that new icon! Attend (and/or, if I'm lucky, organize) a Community Celebration Event. Again, new icon... Add a whole bunch of new country finds. 15 are already planned. Wishful thinking, but: complete the Jasmer grid! Will have to visit Sweden for this one.
  22. GSAK looks at corrected coordinates. Very possible that some mystery caches have their published coordinates in one county, and the final coordinates in another. This could account for a difference between GSAK and Project GC.
  23. Here's a quote from an 2018 article on the Geocaching Blog: Whether this is meant in a factual or restrictive way, I don't know.
