Could you please describe exactly what you did and how you did it?

Since my eTrex yellow has a 500 waypoint limit, it would be ideal if GSAK could filter for the 500 closest waypoints to my home (or any other waypoint). I can't find a way to do this. Any suggestions out there?

Temporary Cache At The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival
Team Tired Boy replied to the hermit crabs's topic in Northeast
I believe we had four people sign our log at FRFF. Thanks to the Hermit Crabs for their excellent cache. There's nothing like combining geocaching with Falcon Ridge! -
I don't think it's silly. I lost my notebook a while back too, and I was pretty bummed.

Custom Made Geocache Containers
Team Tired Boy replied to White Whiskey's topic in General geocaching topics
I tell you what, that's some nice looking work on the website. Somehow I get the feeling I couldn't afford one of your containers, and, if I could, I might prefer it on my mantle than hidden inside a rotted out tree stump. -
I disagree. There are lots of CD players out there that won't play mp3s. I want to make sure everyone who picks up the CDs I leave can play them, so I actually convert them from mp3 prior to burning them.

Some might disagree, but for me the acid test is whether or not I signed the log book.

Temporary Cache At The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival
Team Tired Boy replied to the hermit crabs's topic in Northeast
Yep, we'll probably hide ours on Wednesday afternoon. -
We leave a mix CD of one of our favorite song writers in most caches we find. I guess it's our signature item. But in our case we actually do have permission from the copyright owner.

My feeling is that quality is more important than quantity.

I checked last night, and the Etrex Yellow package was $99. The Legend package was $169.

Someone in my area leaves handmade wooden bowls and plates. They're very nice, and we were happy to find one and bring it home.
-
You do that too?
-
I may be in PR in a couple weeks. If so, I'll definitely do some caching!

Bump. Leaving Wednesday morning and will have some time in the late afternoon for some caching. Any suggestions? How about on the way to Rockford from O'Hare?

Selling A Used Copy Of The Gc For Idiot's Guide?
Team Tired Boy replied to huskytown's topic in How do I...?
Actually, I sold huskytown my copy a week or so ago. But S.C.Geocacher gives good advice. There's not much in the book that isn't on the web page. -
Meravella, I don't quite understand what you're looking for. GSAK will download waypoints to your PDA, if that's what you're looking for.

aleoop, follow these directions.

What Things Have You Found At A Cache Site?
Team Tired Boy replied to Prof_Fate's topic in General geocaching topics
I took home a stray kitten a week or so ago. She was about 6 months old and nothing but skin and bones. We took her to the vet who said that other than being hungry she was healthy. She's a sweet kitten, and she's fitting into her new home well. -
I'll be in Rockford, IL for a few days next week and was wondering if someone could recommend some especially good caches to do while I'm there.

Anyone Found Any Dangerous Caches?
Team Tired Boy replied to hunterlks's topic in General geocaching topics
You could just search for caches with a terrain difficulty of 5. -
Are Elevation Changes Part Of Distance?
Team Tired Boy replied to Team Tired Boy's topic in GPS technology and devices
Hmm...now I'm starting to think there's no way they could incorporate elevation changes into the distance calculation. The GPSr might know your elevation, but it wouldn't know the elevation of your target, so how could it take it into account? I'm more interested in distance to a cache than in distance traveled, if that makes any difference. -
For example, suppose I am 300 feet up in a tower. My target is on level ground 400 feet from the base of the tower. Will my GPSr tell me that I am 500 feet from my target (thus taking into account the altitude) or 400 feet?

Get a Gilsson cable. Much cheaper than the Garmin one, and it works just fine. http://www.gilsson.com/garmin_gps/cables/epc.htm You may also be able to find them on eBay.
