Photomap now works for waypoints and track download from a magellan reciever (at least the meridian series). It is not perfect yet, I belive you have to do it before it gets a signal (that is easier said than done, I am in my basement, with my hands covering the antanna, and practialy have to sit on it to totaly cut of the signal) Wyatt W. MM stands for mils (military) magnetic. To change it to deg mag, deg true, or mil true do the following: hit menu, scroll to setup, go down to north reference and pick what you would like. You may want to check out the magelland meridian (exspecialy the green or gold). If you go for the green you will get the computer cable with it, and a database of some towns and major roads. After you get fimilar with it you can pick up a SD card and mapsend software to upload maps. With this set up you will still have some money left over and not have to worry about upgrading later to a mapping unit (trust me you will eventually want a mapping unit). Wyatt W. I had that problem when I was using a 315 cable with the black box (I heard somewhere that there was a defect with the black cable). Can you use the unit with no batteries installed at all? I was able to use it but when I turned the backlight on it would shut it self off. I called Magellan and told them that I had the 315 and the meridian and was using the same cable for both of them, I also told them that I was having problems where my batteries would die. I got them to send me a new 315 cable (gray box) which appeals (just got today- took a week to arrive) to run the unit with backlight on bright and redrawing the map. Wyatt W. I have never had the video so I can't say if it will help. I find it helps to sit somewhere with the manual and GPS, then read the manual and try what it tells you to do.
