For sale: DeLorme's TOPOUSA 3.0 CD set
Vertigo replied to jollybgood's topic in GPS technology and devices
this is 3.0 and not 4.0 right? -
It's a good idea to average when placing a cache, but not totaly necciary. There are other methods to do if you cant (i.e. eTrex), but I dont think it's as good as averaging. You dont need averaging at all for hunting, only placing a cache.

Everything you describe could very easily be caused by software problems. We're only on the first software revision, I wouldn't start bashing the hardware just yet. I havn't had any trouble with my V.

I'm sorry this has gotten out of hand, I didn't want people to start *****ing at each other about right and wrong. I simply wanted to know how someone would react if they discovered something I did. I think it's clear that it is stealing, but the object of the post was not to condone it or to encourage it, only to see how others would react.

Working great for me

Has anyone ever found a cache with coppied CD's or software in it? If so how did this make you feel? I recently found a cache with some fairly expensive coppied software in it, and I didn't quite know how to react.

First 5/5 SCUBA MultiCache now online...

If it took you that long to find a place to put the plaque, how long will it take someone to find it without having any idea where to look? -

Well, you should be loosing the poor signal reception under heavy tree cover. You'll be loosing the lighter weight and smaller size of the summit.

Man why is it taking Garmin forever to update and add new features to their most versatile GPS on the market? Afraid the firmware would be to big? I say loose the stupid game

Youre such a stickler! Anyhow this is NOT why your GPS has poor coverage under tree cover, although it may contribute a very very very small ammount -

The water doesn't "direct" the radio waves, it just basicaly absorbs it. Radio waves are just like light waves, nothing (aside from mass, i.e. a black hole) can bend or suck them towards it. The only way the tree can block the signal is if it's within the line of sight from you to the satellite. -

How do I see a subscription only cache? Is there a way to search for subscription only caches? I havn't been able to spot any of these yet and I'd like to know when I see one.

Wow, I'm glad you're pleased. I cant say I've had the same experience with any GPS. Let us know how it does in the woods. Vertigo -

NEED RECCMD. FOR CACHE #100 in NC or VA AREA
Vertigo replied to Hawk-eye's topic in South and Southeast
This is a great cache, that I found expecialy hard, but not really because of hte terrain though. I had trouble with the questions... Make sure you study up real good for this one or have someone sitting at a computer to look stuff up while you're in the field. Great Cache though, I had to make a few trips since I had no life-line
