  1. Okay, I've spent the last couple of hours reading descriptions of various caches withing 15 miles of Rocklin. Here is a list of ones which seem interesting. Please let me know if any of these are too difficult to find or too long of a hike for marathon caching day's, so I can weed them out. I'll probably have 2 day's to work with. Also, if somebody could put these in a good order in which to find them in the least amount of time I would appreciate it. I want to start in Rocklin and work my way out.

  2. I am going to visit my mom in Rocklin in Late May and am planning on committing one or two day's to nothing but caching. I need advice on which caches are fairly close and fairly easy to get to. (ie. not too long of a hike or too hard to find) I'd like to get as many as possible and will have my 12 year old son with me who gets bored easily if they are too hard to find. I also have an aunt in the Orangevale area and am fairly familiar with that area so caches in that area are fine as well.

I would be grateful if somebody could give me a list of caches that fit this criteria and could list the caches in the order that I should hunt for them in order to make the best time.

I also would like to hide a few caches in the Rocklin area and am wondering if somebody would like to volunteer to check on them for me from time to time to make sure they are in good condition etc. I am from Seattle so it would be pretty hard to maintain them.

I come from a huge family of avid hunters. We hunt the same area year after year for the past 40 years. One time 5 of us were so lost that basecamp almost had the search and rescue out for us. Another 10 minutes later getting in and they'd have made the call. It could snow and you could become very disoriented. Anything could happen. Don't get such a big ego that you get yourself into trouble. Better safe than sorry.

    Just my 2 cents. icon_wink.gif

  5. icon_cool.gif My husband works a part time job where he cleans up the parking lot of a strip mall. He found a Garmin GPS 12 on the ground of this parking lot one night. I was going to try and sell it on ebay to make some money. However, first I got curious and looked up the manufacturer on the internet. They had a link to geocaching.com. I followed the link and was hooked before I even found my first cache.

  7. I tend to agree with J&B Super Sleuths & Treemoss2. Maybe it would be a good idea to do a smaller scale conference. Foreign and out of state cachers could still be welcome of course but instead of making it so public keep it to a smaller scale. Advertise it in this forum and in the yahoo forums that different states have formed for themselves. Also, people who arrange various event caches in their local area's can advertise the conference by putting up flyers etc. Arrange a hotel with conference rooms and invite the vendors, Jeremy etc. I agree with most of the idea's people have put out as to things we can do during the conference. They are very good idea's. And it will be alot of fun. Just take it slow. If geocaching grows to fast then were going to have some serious growing pains.

  8. I dont think adult themed caches should be approved. The reason I believe this is that some of the users of geocaching.com are underage. Many of these kids are caching without parental supervision. If they see a cache that advertises an Adult theme they are gonna get curious and make a beeline straight for it.

I believe it would be very irresponsible of geocaching.com to approve these caches. At the very least these caches should be restricted to Charter Members Only. Most unsupervised children would not have the charter memberships. Just my two cents.
