  1. Map segment limit is 2025. I'm sending 694 maps.
  2. Hey everybody! I got the 3.90 software version for my 60CSx and I just recently bought an 8GB Kingston Micro SDHC card to upgrade from my 2GB card. I try to build a 4GB map file to send to the card, but Mapsource doesn't want to send the file map set to the GPS. It stops with a thread error when it's ready to send to map set to the GPS. I tried a test send of 1 map segment of CNNT v8 and it worked fine. Any ideas as to what's wrong? Thanks in advance!
  3. The only thing you need to worry about regarding the City Navigator software is the fact that CN comes in two flavours: NT or Non-NT. As the 60CS is an older unit, you'll need to use the non-NT version of CN, other than that, CN will work just fine.
  4. Perhaps it's me, but has anybody noticed that the colors on the satellite page seem to shift and change? I didn't totally pay attention when I had 3.70 on my unit, but after upgrading, I'm noticing the colors changing on the satellite strength bars. Can anybody corroborate this?
  5. Here's my thoughts on trading... I personally feel that the idea of putting REALLY expensive items in a cache is not smart. For the most part, people playing this game either have NO swag to trade, or have simple items. It's all about the hunt, right? Having said that, if you WANT to have really expensive stuff to trade, why not make your cache subscriber only, or state that you'd like EQUAL value items only in your cache? I can't speak for other cachers, but one aspect of the sport I really enjoy is increasing the number of geocoins and trackables I find during my hunts. Because of this, finding Geocoins in a geocache for me is EXTREMELY valuable, and I'm willing to trade a good quality non-tracking item for it. Think of it as seeding a cache for the next person. Although I don't KEEP the geocoin (at least, not if I'm HONEST), my ability to add it to my list of coins found more than makes up (to me) the expense of leaving a good item in a cache. As to quality of items, I feel that dollar store swag is just fine. You have to think of the numbers here; there's SO many people participating in this sport, that you have to appeal to the common denominator and get stuff that's not junky, but not expensive (unless you live in Beverly Hills I suppose). When I go shopping for swag, I avoid electronics (useless as soon as it rains and gets wet), really large items, and smelly stuff. I buy simple, small, useful items that people would feel comfortable taking out of a cache.
  6. I'm having similar problems with my 60CSx as well. On my old man's 60C, if I selected a Geocache point, it would go straight to the compass screen and would have the found buttons, etc along the bottom. On my unit, however, using the find button to find a geocache takes me straight to the map screen as well. I can live with the unit defaulting to map mode, but I'd REALLY like to note the cache as "found" by using the button on the compass screen, rather than taking the long way around and selecting the geocache point, hitting menu, then changing the geocache icon manually. Anyone know if I'm doing something wrong here? And before you post, yes, I tried the exact same thing that was posted above, to no avail.
  7. To add my $0.02 worth I use... Garmin GPSmap 60CSx 2GB Sandisk microSD card City Navigator North America NT v8 I've only been geocaching for about a week, and although some people may think it's overkill to have a unit specced out like this, my belief is that if you're going get a tool that's as essential to geocaching as a GPS unit, you might as well go for the gusto and get a great one, since you're going to be using it all the time. That and the fact I can use the autorouting feature here in Vancouver REALLY made it appeal to me. All in all, a great little unit, now if only my screen protector would arrive...
