  1. Right, having just caught up with this thread it seems that what started as a discussion about a new site turned into a promo by the site owner. Thread closed.
  2. Thread closed as it's started a slanging match.
  3. I take it you've never seen Everton play football (No, not many people have   ) Ahhh... That laughter! Yeah... Seen Liverpool play for 20 years with no title too Yep. Saw the same with Man Utd not winning it for 26 years. They had to get relegated to win trophies in that time, Liverpool just went to Europe. Relegated 74, promoted 75... No trophy that year! Or my first game in 76... Bloody saints! Looking forward to this season... As now I know fergie is sane... Back in 86 when he said Liverpool had more titles and he was going to put it right, I thought he was a nutter!!!! My grandfather was a good friend of one Bob Paisley... How he wasn't knighted I'll never know. Nice guy, enjoyed his company a few times. Nothing against Liverpool... But the Beatles are overrated, and the comedy overplayed... Surely football is Merseyside's best export????? Can we drag this thread back on topic please??? 4. It's time this one was put to bed since it turned nasty. Regards Paul Geohatter Volunteer UK Reviewer & Forum Mod - geocaching.com UK Geocaching Information & Resources http://www.follow-the-arrow.co.uk Geocaching.com Knowledge Books http://support.Groundspeak.com//index.php
  5. With the potential for how nasty this thread could get I had considered locking it to avoid all that. However, it is a valid topic of discussion and the above post is an good example of how not to respond. Tony, I admire what you're trying to do for Lilian but the second anyone gets nasty I'm shutting this thread down. Unfortunately, the style in which you wrote is enough to provoke a nasty reaction. If you are going to respond, please think about what you're writing before posting it.
  6. That system is already in place. All you have to do is write the request in the 'Note to Reviewer' section and we will endeavor to accomodate your request. 7. That's pretty much what I do as well. I will spend a lot more time reviewing on a friday evening to get the queue clear for the weekend as well so you may get stuff from me up to about 10/11 ish
  8. Well, since the reviewing team are representatives of Groundspeak then yes they are applying the guideline. However, it will not form part of the guidelines in the knowledge books. That said, the Groundspeak Wiki goes into more detail on the local guidelines and links to the GAGB guidelines. This page is managed by the UK reviewer team and we have the support of GS. I hope that answers your question. If not I'll be happy to help you further. 9. I locked that thread because it went out of control. Like I said, feel free to have a discussion about the guideline. Just don't get into the sniping again. Anyway, back on topic. To answer your question, the UK reviewers are appyling the guideline. The same way we apply the GAGB guidelines on SSSI, dry stone walls, churches/cemetries, war memorials and railway stations. These are not Groundspeak guidelines yet noone questions the validity of the GAGB when we apply them. I admit the new urban guideline was rushed. I see some more work has been done on it. As with any guidelines (even GSP ones), changes are made all the time and they're not always perfect. Why not get involved in that process????? GSP have a feedback forum for situations like this. Maybe you should approach the GAGB directly with your concerns and hopefully we will have a situation that will be acceptable to most (and hopefully you). 11. Closing this topic as it come to it's inevitable conclusion of a slanging match. If you want to have a constructive discussion please feel free but do not use this forum to have a go at each other just because you don't like the other's opinion. 14. I think I may have seen a post about that but it seems to have disappeared
  15. Hi The fact that the only mods for the UK & IE forum were based in the US is the reason I was brought in to do it. TBH there's not a lot for me to do as you lot are all fairly well behaved. As has been pointed out, the main action I take is moving threads that have been posted in the wrong forumn and also removing spam. I am glad of this because my reviewing duties take up a vast amount of time. I did laugh the other day when someone posted on facebook that they reported 2 spam posts and I didn't take action. I think he temporarilly forgot that I have a life away from this site and was, in fact, at work. I was then greeted by 46 emails. I repeat. 46 emails all reporting the posts. This is the reason I am here as the mod. The rest of the time I am behind the scenes until I am needed as all good mods should be. 16. This is exacly what happens. I've lost count of the number of notes I've sent about unmaintained caches and all it takes is a note and any quoted deadline will be increased. Question 1,2,and 3 = no. Question 4 and 5 = don't own a Net book or Ipad and never used our lap top for caching outside our home . You are one person and we have to cater for the entire country and with the increasing use of the above devices among the populace, deadlines are a lot shorter than in the old days of geocaching. Incidentally this was Deci's point which you seem to have missed. Also, as any cache can be unarchived after discussion with the reviewer (which this one has been) there has been no real harm done.
  17. Not to pee on yer bonfire but most of the UK & Ireland reviewers actually do it in their own local areas (I can think of 8 off the top of my head). I'm not gonna list them cos that would be a tad condescending. BTW. Welcome to the team Mr/Miss/Mrs/Ms Duster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
