  1. Just for the record, since I grew up in Wisconsin and now live in Florida, I only log events once, and if I put caches out for an event, they are real permanent caches. I've seen this practice and just don't get it. For that reason alone I spent a lot of time finding a way to get 3 new caches placed for a local event recently. Last I checked everyone logged the event only once. Progress.
  2. If I had the time (work gets in the way), and money (family, bills, food etc., thus the need for work) I'm sure I could get numbers like that also. It would be great to be able to spend that much time feeding mosquitos, finding every thorn in a field, getting caught in the rain, or trying to look like I'm supposed to be here when muggles look at you sideways. An idea, anyone want to sponsor me so I could become a professional cacher!
  3. Most of my FTFs are a result of my work schedule. I work 3rd shift and new caches generally get approved in the early AM just before I leave work. As long as I don't have to rush over and pick up my 9 month old daughter from her grandparents in the morning, I'll go look for them. I've also found all the "local" caches, so between the price of gas and being a parent, I look forward to new caches in the area since I don't get as many caching trips anymore. FTFs are cool, but I enjoy the sport just as much being the first finder or the 50th finder, it's about the hunt and the experience.
  4. Any updates on this coin? I haven't seen any sale information yet! Hope I didn't miss it.
  5. Cool, ordered one, it pays to be online at the right time. Thanks.
  6. 3rd shift supervisor for a well known air conditioner manufacturer. My location builds those roof top units you see on orange home improvement stores and other similar structures.
  7. Great story, sounds like you had a great time. Glad to see another proud Packer fan out there, especially after a year that was not the best. For the record, I too am a die hard Packer fan, I grew up about 40 miles from Green Bay and can say I am one of the team owners!
  8. I've found a lot of stuff in caches that had nothing to do with geocaching other than that someone put it into a cache. I've also seen a lot of travel bugs that have nothing to do with geocaching other than someone attaching a travel bug tag and putting it into a cache. With that said a nicley designed coin that is trackable is just a relevant to geocaching as all that other stuff. Well I guess that assumes people still put coins into caches (their intended purpose) instead of just on the shelf to display!! I personally think the coins are great, I'll sign up for 2 of each. Yes that would be one for me to put on the shelf and put the other into a cache somewhere.
  9. Ditto what gridlox and nielsenc have to say. I work for a large worldwide manufacturing company and we recently expanded to China. During that expansion we sent some of our people to China and had some of our Chinese employees come to visit the facility I work in. I can't speak for all the factories in China obviously, but I know our factory in China follows the same corporate quidelines as the ones in the US, Europe and elsewhere. As for the Chinese people I've met, they are a very friendly hard working people who want more for their children. Hmmm, that sounds a lot like most people to me.
  10. Received my Serial Finder LE Pewter coin today. All I can say is very cool coin!! Thanks again for the contest, I had a great time doing it and still can't believe I was lucky enough to win a coin. This coin will travel with me and be shared with the cachers I meat along the way!
  11. Wow, I just checked my email before coming here and found out I won a coin, then I saw I was the FTA (or email correctly). I'll have to do a FTF dance for that. This is a great story and I really enjoyed the contest, thanks for doing it. Can't wait to see the rest of the story.
  12. Sent my answers in, I'm sure they are right, just hope they are in time also. This was like the race to get the elusive FTF!
  13. It's finally here!! Emailed for the other contest, hope I sent it in time to be #2.
  14. Put me down for 2, I'm a biker also and this is a great cause!
