  1. A bit slower? The numbers you posted show it is 50% slower. I loaded up developer tools in FF and I see a few things worth mentioning. There's a 269KB file at https://www.geocaching.com/images/tlnMasters/topo-tile.svg that is being loaded on the page though I don't see being displayed. There's a reference to HotJar being loaded so I expect they are using hotjar which is a tool that shows the GS team where people are mousing, clicking, scrolling, etc. It can be viewed in aggregate or each individual user's session to track the interaction on the page. That doesn't help the page load time and should be disabled as soon as they have enough data collected, which on the log page should be by Monday morning. The server response time to return the root HTML for the latest log page is almost twice as slow as the page was yesterday, even though yesterday's page payload was larger. The ajax calls are likely checking for new messages It's as if we went in features, usability and performance from a v4.3 site to a v0.3 site. Maybe the source code was lost and they needed to revert to a 3.5" floppy zip copy from 2003? I posted in the other thread but adding here too: Thanks for letting us know - we've received other reports of this as well. We're looking into this now and will provide a status update as soon as possible.
  2. I assume you know this, but the help center article is now wrong. It refers to the helpful formatting buttons that are no longer there. The "button" column in the help article should be removed so people know to format using wiki-ish style formatting. Thanks! Yes we are aware and are making updates.
  3. At least you get a result after 3400ms. For me the spinning circle just stays there and I can't do anything Windows 7 firefox 53.0 (32-bits) Thanks for letting us know - we've received other reports of this as well. We're looking into this now and will provide a status update as soon as possible.
  4. Thanks everyone for your feedback; we would like you all to know that we are reading and reviewing everyone’s feedback. This release is not the end of our improvements, we’re continuing to monitor, review, and iterate on this new logging page. I’ll be back to update you on our progress again soon
  5. It's not actually. Only the first 5 trackables in the list are shown, unless you notice and click on the "Show More" link at the bottom. This list should show all of the trackables a user has, if they've chosen to show the list. Even the "first" five is arbitrary, they are not sorted in any particular order I can discern. Thanks for the feedback - the sort order is by most recently used trackables.
  6. Thanks for pointing this out, we'll look into getting this fixed! Could you let me know what browser you're using?
  7. The regular logging page will be updated to the new logging page soon. You can read a little more about why changes were made in the blog post here: https://www.geocaching.com/blog/2017/04/test-a-new-logging-experience-is-coming-to-geocaching-com/ The text box is expandable, type text and the text box will automatically expand.
  8. Thanks for the feedback - Regarding timestamps/ time zones: We’re taking iterative steps to having logs displayed in the time zone of the cache. The Drafts page is currently displaying in UTC and in the coming weeks drafts will also be in listed in the time zone of the cache. You can see a little more about timestamps on the Drafts page here: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=343801 The “add coordinates” function was intentionally left out in an effort to streamline logging (and also due to the infrequency of its use); we encourage folks to take advantage of the other ways to share a suggested coordinate, via the log text, a message to the owner etc. Regarding photos: we’re continuing to make improvements with photos - stay tuned for future updates. Markdown/smileys: these continue to be supported in the new logging page; we do not currently have plans to include a preview of the post. After posting view log: we do have a direct link to the log after posting the draft - see the blue banner at the top of the page after posting a draft. Trackables: yes, it’s sticky
  9. Thank you everyone for your feedback. We do have plans to display the timestamp on the Drafts page once we are farther along with the time zone improvements in the next few weeks. Stay tuned to upcoming release notes, thanks!
  10. I had most definitely not already logged a find for this cache! In fact, the message appeared for both of my today's finds, GC736G2 and GC730HM. Of course, by now I have logged my find. It appears we had a bug and it has been fixed - once you clear the cache on your browser, you will no longer see the invalid warning message. Thank you!
  11. Hi there! This has been resolved now. Drafts listed on the Drafts page will be listed in UTC. When finalizing your draft through "Compose Log", the date will be the timezone of the cache. (Soon, the drafts listed on the Drafts page will also be shown in the timezone of the cache - keeping consistent with the rest of the website). Thank you!
  12. Hi baer2006 - Thanks for sharing this. Could you tell me what cache this was happening with? (My assumption is that you received the message because you have already logged a "Found" for that particular cache - this is related to the upcoming log type changes noted here: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=343632)
  13. This has been resolved - players can now open drafts in a separate tab. Thank you!
  14. Hi bear2006, Thank you for sharing your feedback about logging drafts. We are Beta testing this updated feature with a small group of geocachers in the community for a brief period of time. Feedback like yours is greatly appreciated - thank you for helping to improve our products!
  15. Thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts on this. We are looking at options for addressing this and should have a fix soon - thanks for bringing it to our attention and for your patience while we work on it!
  16. Hi there! Thanks for letting us know, I would recommend clearing your browser cache - you should see the badge on the profile once again
  17. As promised, we've worked to address some concerns raised since the December 5 release. Today's updates include: -Minor updates to the icon colors. It's possible that most users will not notice the changes (ie. the green of the Traditional Cache icon is a slightly "brighter" green), but they're aimed to address problems experienced by those with colorblindness. -The large circle icons, with cache icons in the center, were formerly available only at the closer zoom levels. Now, those icons will display at zoom levels a little further out. This helps users who like to identify caches while zoomed further out, while also assisting players with colorblindness. -We have improved the clickability of the cache icons on the map. The new icons at the closer zoom levels are now slightly larger. -On 12/15 we removed the point of interest icons from google maps (to avoid confusion between cache icons and the google point of interest icons)
  18. Thank you everyone for the feedback. We’ve investigated the colorblindness concerns and have identified areas for improvement. We’ll be rolling out the changes in the coming days.
  19. I think this refers to my comment, and I would like to add that something is lost in translation. I have no doubt that the GC crew have the best of intentions, it's just that the result in this case is irritating. For eyes and otherwise. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. While we do accessibility testing prior to implementing design changes, based on feedback we’re taking another look at this to see if there’s anything we missed.
  20. I'm curious to know how it was determined that the PMO descriptor was not "used by many users". I certainly appreciated being able to identify which caches were PMO or not, by having the icon be a square or circle. If there's no way to identify PMO caches on the map, then could GS at least add a toggle in the Filters pane so users can toggle on/off PMO caches. I know this can be done via Search, so I'm asking specifically in regards to the Browsing Map. Great question. In an effort to streamline, the map (used alone simply for browsing) will offer filters for cache types and hides and finds. As you noticed you can accomplish PMO cache filtering on the search page, but the intent is to merge the search filters and map experience at some point.
