  1. Can't say we beat that! Didn't start geocaching until our daughter was about 9 months old (last month). We did put her in the backpack and take her along (she loves it). Thinking back though, my wife would probably have given it the good ol college try up to about 8 months had her feet not swolen up so much! Happy caching!
  2. I can see your concern. I don't see a problem, as long as the location is well out of plain sight, and not anywhere near inhabited areas.
  3. I think the rules should be fairly open, but know that there are many families and children doing this, and you need to keep the items rated PG if you know what I mean. As far as value, the sky's the limit, and that goes for the number of items as well. The loot is always the secondary prize. The first prize is the hunt! We placed a cache recently with lots of good stuff. Next time we're going to think of a theme. We found one that had a "Mardi Gras" theme, and it was lots of fun. Happy Caching!

  5. We share your concern. We recently placed a cache in a rather high traffic area. If it appears that the surrounding immediate area is being impacted, we'll remove it and log the removal on the web site. I don't think it should be a problem though. I think we as Geocachers should be sensitive about the environment. The greatest part of Geocaching is exploring the wilderness. We try to follow these three very basic rules when we're Geocaching: 1. Stay on existing trails as long as possible. 2. Avoid bushwhacking as much as humanly possible. 3. Cache-In, Trash-Out If Geocachers are known as hikers/explorers who actually pack out trash in search of caches that have almost no impact on the surrounding environment, I think we'll possibly avoid what the mountain bikers (I'm included in this group) have had to deal with in the last several years; trail closures, fines etc. Let's all be pro-active and make it known that we're concerned, and we're leaving areas better looking when we leave than when we got there!
